Could you share pix of where your Yorkie stays/plays? Hey guys! I am curious...can any of you post pix of your Yorkie's crate/x pen/play area set up in your home? I am thinking about our set up in our home for our future Yorkie. I know I want it to be in the kitchen since the floor in there is easy to clean up in case of accidents. Of course I want our baby to have free roam of our home once she is potty trained and at play, but she will need a place to sleep and to stay any time we are not at home. I plan on taking her most everywhere I go if at all possible. But I do know there may be times when she may have to be at home by herself for just a little bit. Thanks for any input you can give me! Happy Labor Day everyone!:) |
I don't have any pictures, but I can describe what I had for my boys when they were pups. Max had a single xpen, 4' square. He had a bed in one corner and a piddle pad in the opposite corner. Toys and a water dish/water bottle. Teddy was 8 months old when he came to us. He had 2 xpens connected for a much larger area, an open wire crate to house his bed, piddle pad, toys and water. |

Also, for Teddy's crate, I covered the top with a fluffy towel to make it seem more den like, his safe place. :) |
1 Attachment(s) I had this x-pen for Riley which I ordered from petedge.com. I had his bedding/play area at one end and his peepee pad on the other. He now has full run of my place.... I live on the 5th floor of a building in the city.... I have a peepee pad in a corner in one of the purina second nature doggie litter boxes...just in case he needs to go when I am not home. I also bought a diaper genie to put any used pads so there is no smell. |
I have a crate with blankets & a stuffed toy in it for SHield. It is in the kitchen. I have the kitchen gated off to help control when I let him come out. Right now he is allowed to hang out with us in the kitchen, downstairs bathroom(it's off the kitchen),dining room, & living room with no problem. He is doing well, he earned it! :) When we leave, i walk the dogs so they don't have to potty then put him in the crate & leave. & i don't use the pads. I just take them out frequently. Does that make sense without pictures? |
1 Attachment(s) Here's a picture of my babies' place. They stay in there when I'm out, but they sleep in my room with me at night. I had to put up a fence because Emma jumped out one time! |
Thank you all very much! I appreciate all of your input! I'm getting a lot of ideas. :) |
I have her crate in a corner of my bedroom where she can see both me and the wife in bed (I can lift my head up and make eye contact if needed) and my other two dogs in their crate. I have a pillow-pad that covers the entire bottom of the crate for cushioning. No pee-pads as I don't want to encourage going in the house at all. She's been home a little over a week now with no accidents and this weekend she's started going straight outside when I let her out in the morning. Very proud of her. When she's up, she has run of the house and she typically lounges somewhere where one of us is at. No favoritism on her part thus far (which frustrates me no end..lol). She'll lay by me at the desk, by the ottoman and the kids watching TV or under the kitchen table if the wife is working on the laptop over there. |
We have an adjustable exercise pen set up in the corner of the livingroom with her bed, food, toy box and rascal potty box. I call it her condo. She can see our bed from there so works out very well. We open the pen door when home and she is allowed only in the livingroom and Kitchen area which are connected. We close our bedroom door. I will try and upload a picture sometime today so you can check my album photos. This has worked excellent and we are having very good luck. I also have a bells hanging from the front door so she can ring when she wants to go out. Good luck Molly's Mom |
1 Attachment(s) We also used the adjustable x-pen for Brielle until about 2 months ago. She is 1 1/2 now. Now she stays in the gated kitchen with her brother when we are not home. For bed time she has always slept in a child's pack and play that I got at a consignment store. I have her bed and blankets in there and a pad just in case. Most night she does not use the pad but occasionally she has to go. This pic is her in her bed in her pack and play |

Wow! What amazing spaces! I am really loving all of these set up's and I like the term 'condo.' LOL! I think I will call ours the puppy condo too! That is too cute! I really like all of your x-pens and the pack & play thing is a great idea too! Thank you all for sharing your spaces!!! |

Mine sleep in my bed- I shut my door at night so they only have access to my bedroom and the connected bathroom. They can get down and play in the room if they want- they just can't roam the entire house. During the day when I am home, they have free access to the entire house. When I am gone they again are contained to the bedroom/ bathroom area. I haven't used any expen/crate setups since they were about 6 months old. |
3 Attachment(s) Here is Lexi's apartment...LOL She goes everywhere with us and sleeps in our bed..but if we have to go out without her for a bit this is where she stays and we know she is safe :D |
3 Attachment(s) I did the x pens when they were smaller and expanded them as they grew. They are potty pad train now and they have the kitchen and their room during the day when I am not home. When I come home they can roam anywhere. I do keep gates up at several rooms all the time. Usually they stay right next to me. Attachment 352515 In kitchen where they noramlly greet me when I come home. Gate is behind the little green bed. Attachment 352516 Jack usually goes here when I leave. It's his sad area. Attachment 352517 Quiet room which is really my computer room. There is a radio and TV. I leave one or the other on low when I leave. I think they sleep some during the day here. They have toys also everywhere. Potty pad off to the side in kitchen and quiet room. There is a low chair in front of window in kitchen that Jack gets up on and can look at. There are hedges in front of window so he can see out but you can't see in. He goes there and looks out when he hears the gate open. I live alone so I have more space and room to spare. |

Thanks everybody! I am loving all your little spaces! Love Lexi's little space and how it's coordinated in the zebra print stuff! I think I like the idea of it all matching. I need to think on that and figure out what I could do. I know I want pink. Maybe black and pink, brown and pink....gotta see what I can find. |

oh wow! I love this! I am still trying to find an "apartment" for my Bella. Hubby got her as a gift, so there wasnt time to plan :(. |
I really like that plastic pet fence thing that many of you have. Would you be able to use that outside for play as well or do you need a separate one for that? |
I thought you\'d like to see where Bitsy put little Peyton when she brought him home: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-11-weeks.html Isn\'t it cute?:p It\'s been so long since mine was a puppy that now my answer would be my lap, my bed, and my desk.:D |
