I can not believe this This is unreal. Let me start by saying that I usually do not go to bed until 1 am. I always let the dogs out to go potty before we got to bed. I let them out tonight and I walked over to the other end of the yard to check out the garden and see if I had anything needing picked and all of a sudden I hear Scooter growling in his low, I mean it growl. I run over to the other side of the yard, my yard is huge, and someone was on the other side of the fence trying to get my dogs to come to them. I hollered over the fence, can I help you and they took off. I think they were trying to steal my babies. I would have called the police but I have a 6 ft privacy fence and I could not see anyone, just heard them. I guess from now on I turn all the outside lights on when we go out. I just can not believe the nerve of some people. |
How disgusting :( I don't understand the nerve of people... |
Scary what it is coming too. Glad you were with them. Sounds like they were sure not up to no good. |
wow glad you were with them. This world has gone crazy! |
The reason why I don't let mine out! |
Our babies never go outside unattended! Its just not safe! Several dogs have been taken in our area and I don't want it to happen to mine! I don't know where you are but sounds like someone knows about your little ones!:animal36 |
This is real common right now every one needs to be careful because theft of dogs is up |
We have 5 acres and woods near us, I never let mine out alone and when I do they are on a leash. Glad you were outside with them. I worry everyday about someone stealing my babies. |
wow! thats pretty scary! Glad you were there with them!! It is very sad that your babies can't be safe in their own yard!! :( |
That is so scary! Glad that you were able to stop them. It's so sad what this world is coming to. :( |
Oh that sounds so scary knowing someone was lurking behind your fence  I hope you have a good lock on it inside |
That is a very scarey eve! I'm w you, I would turn on all the lights out back when you take them out. That is absolutely terrible. They say the theft of these yorkies lately is outrageous. Please be careful. I always take my cell w me even when out in the yard so I could call 911 if anything happened. |
The reason I never turned the lights on is because it lights up the yard like a runway and I didnt want to disturb the neighbors but thats just to bad now. Everyone knows I have these babies cause I walk them all the time so it could have been anyone but the funny part is my babies are not pure bred yorkies and they would still steal them. crazy world. |
People are crazy anymore. I never let mine out without me standing right there with them. Hawks and Owls are around my 2-acres we never go out unless on a leash after 6pm. |
I have heard that people are stealing dogs...WHY? are they using them for experiments or something? This is happening in our area too...my girls are NEVER out alone... |

That's so gross. Too bad you didn't have a pit bull. We have a 7 foot privacy fence that's pad locked on both sides and we still go out with our dogs. I don't know what I would do if anybody ever got my dogs. We have 2 basset hounds that guard the little ones and if anybody would ever try anything they would rip them to pieces and I would stand there laughing. I wouldn't even call them off. |
OMGosh how awful ! I don't know how parents cope with children now days. I could see myself turing into this crazy over protective nut case. My list of things to worry about concerning my dogs gets bigger every day. My dogs are never out of the house without me or another human guardian. Our Lab is so sweet and friendly she would lick a dog napper, instead of bite. The list goes on........................Owls and hawks and bees, Oh my ! Fire ants, poison toads and blow flies, Oh my ! Sneaky people, heart worms and fleas, OH My ! Big dogs, alligators, and foxes OH MY !!! Snakes, rawhide, thieves, OH MY ............. |
Any way you can set a booby trap? If your fence is shared with your neighbor(s), then are your neighbors aware that someone was on their property?Maybe you could get up with them, if you're in good standing with them and set up something. There are some really bad folks out there-desperate times, if you will, and will go to any lengths to get something that does not belong to them if they want it. |
gosh, i would have jumped the fence and ran after the person!!!! well done you for acting quickly and making them run away! these babies are so teeny in stature we have to be the ones to guard and look after them, right? |
wow, how scary. im just happy that nothing happened. wow, some people just are crazy |
Good boy Scooter  |
Some people will do anything if they think they can get a little bit of money, it's disgusting! I'm so glad you were out there to run them off! |
Wow, that's scary! Dog napping is on the up here in the UK too, the most common one at the moment is puppy napping where a 'potential new owner' comes round to see the litter of puppies.. they wait until the breeder is distracted or they make a distraction then run off with the pup. :( Very sad but those breeders need to lock their doors and be on guard. |
I am so glad you were out with your babies. Everybody in my town knows my Gizmo, all the businesses and neighbors alike, even so Gizmo is never out of my site unless I leave the house without him. My husband use to let Giz tide to the store with him but now a days he will not take Giz out at all because he does not want to have anything happen while out of my care he knows it would kill me. It a good thing I have 3 german shepherds on my property who let me know really quick if anyone or anything approaches my front porch, and although Giz does not get along with them they are protective of him all the same. They are outside most of the time and crated when indoors. Cannot be to careful when it comes to our babies. Cynthia |
Our neighbors all know who our babies belong to too! Which is a good thing! We also have a neighborhood watch program so we like to get out and walk on "furpatrol"! LOL! But this doesnt happen just in the evening! My husband and I were out of town on one of our rare trips with out our babies and my brother was puppy sitting. Someone was at our fence and gate in broad daylight and we live in town! When the person saw my brother they took off. Since than they only go out with someone. Sad that they cant enjoy their yard on their own! And our babies also know no strangers! We have tried to socialize them well and they like everyone! Maybe a mistake on our part! :animal36 |
That's awful! Some people these days...I just wonder about them! How could you steal what is not yours? I just don't get it! Glad you were outside! I'd keep a sharp eye out! |
That's awful! Thank goodness you were out with them! You know, I might still call the police and let them know what happened, just so they're aware. If someone attempted to take your babies, you can bet they'll try with other dogs... |

I was told this by a cop last week when our office got broken into and I mentioned putting sheet metal across my door as a safety precaution, (with a battery hooked up to it to shock the hell out of anyone who happened to touch it). He told me he could take me to jail just for suggesting it! |
That is too scary! I always have Abby on a leash when I take her out. Always have to be alert to surroundings even when taking her for a walk. This is just a sad time in this world.:( |
