How Many Do You Have? Just curious. I have two female Yorkies--Sydney is two and Suzy Q is 5-months. I would eventually like to have three. Am I out of line with this thinking? |
Definitely not. There are many on here that have multiples. I have 4 dogs but only 2 are Yorkies. The other two are a Papillon and a Boston Terrier. They all play and get along. |
I have two and would also like to add a third someday. I used to be always on the "lookout" for number 3 but have decided now to wait until I own a home to get a third- but that day will come, honestly I think 3 is better then 2. If you take one somewhere, the other two always have company :) |
Thank you, jltwigg10. That makes me feel better. Good logic, Armani. Right now I live with my parents. They have a female Yorkie named Ginger that's 1.5-years-old. All three play great together. Tomorrow, my 5-month will be getting spayed and will be gone all day (and I'll be pacing, of course). The other two will at least have each other while she's at the vet's office. I would like to get a third eventually when I have a job and my own place. Timing was right to get the second. I am able to dedicate myself to her training. |
I would like to have a house full one day lol. For now I just have Callie and it will be like that for a long time probably. I live with my grandparents and Callie pretty much likes being the only one. Also with the issues and tests Callies been having I could not afford another one right now. I think 3 is a pretty good number as long as you can afford vet care and everything they need. My mom has a boy yorkie so Callie does get to be with him at least once a week and we take them both to event and the pet store together and I get to dress them up in boy girl matching things :D |
I have 5 dogs The 2 yr.old Black Lab Lily is technically my husband's. She is in agility training. I have 4 Yorkies right now. Rubin is 7, Gracie is 2 and was a rescue. Ginny Joy is 5 mo. old and is being trained in therapy. Abba Boy is 6 mo.s old. |
I have 4 Yorkies, 2 females and 2 males. They are spayed / neutered and get along good most of the time. |
I have 4. All females. All related. Cozy is mom- 5. Roxy and Zoey-3. Lucy- 2. |
Just one..."One Lexi" I would love 2 more...always loved the number 3. But, Lexi would not be happy at all...she has to be a only furbaby! Spoiled little girl....and not good with other furbabies :( |
I have 2 and i love them to pieces... but i am staying @ 2!!! no more for now!! they are a handful!! adorable, cute, beautiful, evil, little things...wouldnt change them for the world, wouldnt add another one either!! :) |
I have three and we do just fine. Gizmo just turned 14, Barkley just turned 4, and Molly will be 5 in December. We just adopted Molly last year from Brenda at Greens Treasured Yorkies so she has not always been here. Of course she is the boss now. Mine are all three full-coated and I don't find that three are any more trouble than two. Go for it. |
I have 2. One head for each hand!! Haha |
I have 3!! Just had one for 2 years...but now we have a 7 month old and (well, we had a 4 month ol, but just recently lost her) but now have a 11 week old! My oldest, who will be 3 in one month, LOVES the new babies!!! Our city limits 3 babies (dogs) per household, or I might just have 5 million!!! Lol |
Just the one for now. I want to add #2 in the next year. I'm just waiting for the stars to align. :p |
I have 4 girls now, and still find myself looking at babies sometimes and get the wants. Maybe someday, but for now 4 works perfectly. |
I have two! Miso- 3 month old male and Kimchi 6 month old male. We will add a 3rd dog, but it will probably be a large breed, and a few years from now! |
I've always considered myself the exception to the rule of "Yorkie addiction". I have just one, and am perfectly happy with that. She can be a handful sometimes...spoiled little princess that she is. :p I don't think I would have the time or patience for more than 1, and my SO would surely disown me if I brought another one home. |
I have three dogs. Only one is a yorkie, I also have a shih tzu and an Australian Shepherd mix. They keep me busy, but they also keep each other company and are great friends! |
I have two dogs, but only one Yorkie. Maybe someday I'd own more than 2. Most definitely not now. They completely exhaust me. Like right now they are wrestling and I'm afraid they will poke each others' eyes out. So then comes the headache. With my life right now, I really shouldn't even have 2 (or 1 for that matter). Didn't have a ton of desire for a second dog, but things fell into place. Now I don't want and would refuse a third. For those of you who have time, energy, and lots of $$$ to spend, I say go for it. I have none of those things, so 2 will have to do. |
Right now I have 2-a male and a female both 6yrs old. Bubba, I got as a Christmas present (I got to pick him out though) and Sissy was a rescue. I'd love to have a 3rd, 4th and......... We have a home in NJ and just purchased property in S. Carolina and will build there. Maybe I will apply to foster then but time will tell. I don't feel inclined to purchase another when there are so many in need of a warm, loving home(just my opinion) |
I have 4 but no yorkies. Sadie is a Silky, Scooter, Thor and little bit are Yorkie poos. I have my hands full but I would not have it any other way. I to am always looking at petfinder and yesterday I found a beautiful male yorkie in the kill kennels so of course I am on the phone with all my friends trying to find this guy a home. He will be availible for adoption on the 31 so I will be the first one at the kennel to try and pull him. Once he is safe I will work to find him a home. He is little and young and should not be in a kill shelter. |
I love reading about all of your dogs. I'm glad I asked. I was very happy with just Sydney, but eventually, when I get a job, Sydney would have been by herself. I've had Sydney for two years now with no job. When I do return to work, it will be a big adjustment for both of us. At least now with Suzy, she won't be alone. That got me thinking, it would be nice to have three girls to come home to some day. |
We have 5 dogs a yorkie, a shorkie, a shih tzu, and two basset hounds. We are thinking about adding another yorkie to our family one day. |
We have 2 female yorkies. Ginger just turned 8 and Maggie is 2 1/2 yrs old. We also have a female Maltese, Lilly, who will be 2 next month. And we have a yellow lab, Lady, that is 10 yrs old. |
Went to the shelter this am and someone had already gotten that little Yorkie. Thank God. |
I just have one. Most of the time, I'm very content with it. :) He's like my best little friend - that typical "human/dog bond" you see in the movies (LoL- think about it, most dog-related movies, they only have 1 dog) and I must say it's pretty easy. I like spoiling him, he gets plenty of exercise and doggy socialization, he goes most places that he can with me including family get-togethers, running errands, etc. All in all, I like having 1 dog but I miss the aspect of him having a buddy to play with inside. My moms dog lived with us until she died and he lost his play buddy. :( But we still do go to my dads house once or twice a week where he gets to play with his dogs. Basically, it was nice having the playmate but not the responsibility. ;) I know I'll get a 2nd dog eventually and I think I'll just know when it's time. I start dogsitting tomorrow for 4 nights for a pup around Jackson's size so I guess it will be a good trial-run. |
i have one shih ztu (im looking for a yorkie) but i have been fostering so now that my momo has a friend im glad but soon he will go to his furever home i think its great both ways alone or with another one or more then 2 |
I've had two dogs at once before and it was a lot of work, time, money and energy. I loved both like crazy, but have realized that now that I only have one is the best situation for me and my family. I know to each their own. My reasons for liking the "single life" is because its easy to travel with one, it's cheaper and I get all the snuggle time. If you have the means, time and want for more go for it. Yorkies are like potato chips you can't just have one ;) |
I only have 1. I would like to get another one later on. |
We have one female...our sweet Miss Sophie :). We have a very close bond. She enjoys traveling with us and is our constant loving companion. We love her so much! Lately we have talked about adding a rescue yorkie or yorkie mix from a shelter. We hesitate only because everyone is happy the way things are now, We tried adding a female (Hazel) a year or more ago and we had problems for months with both being females close to the same age and Hazel being larger and far too aggressive with Sophie. Reluctantly we let my niece take Hazel home where she's happy being in an only dog household. Still, we think about trying again now that Sophie is over 2 yrs old and weighs 4 lbs.. We just don't want to make another mistake . |
