Is it ok for Tibbs to hump things?? So Tibbers has gotten very ...um ....ya know lately and has been humping on things ... He even tried to hump on Bella  She is only 13 weeks old so she cant get prego but I am worried about him hurting her....She usually sleeps in the same crate as him but last night I took her out because he was trying to hump her.... She cried and cried ...IDK what to do should I just let him hump on her?? Is this normal?? He gets fixed in a couple weeks he will be 6 months old . Will he stop humping then>?? IDK I hope Im allowed to post this thread.... |
It's really up to you. If you allow it, he'll do it. Some people find it funny/entertaining, and others don't. I personally don't like it, and the few times Kaji did it I stopped him. He only ever humped my old roomie's pom, and I put a stop to that. That was 2 years ago and he hasn't done it since. He's not a humper and I'm ok with that. :D |
I wouldn't allow humping of another dog or people. But Jackson does occasionally go at it with this big pink teddy bear and I let him *shrug* It's not like he does it in front of a ton of guests or does it ALL the time and like I said, he never humps people or other dogs (that's a no-no in my book -- as we are around kids and other people a lot plus dog parks, etc, and I don't want the dog that is humping everyone). He's neutered and 3yrs old and only has a few special 'toys' he plays with. It seems like it feels good LoL and he likes it and all... so yeah, I just allow it on occasion. Gets some of his energy out! Ha! |
LOL!! Thanks guys . Ive been telling him "no" and "stop" sometimes he listens sometimes he doesn't. How did you get yours to stop. Is it like potty training just patients and consistency? |
Mine all hump a stuffed lab puppy nothing else. It is so funny to watch. They stand in line to take turns. Poor abused stuff animal. It is so funny. |

My HD and little boy thinks it's funny to even though my 3 year old says "Tibbs is jumpin and laughs..." Im like OMG guys really!!! How did you get them just to hump one thing? lol I don't want him humping Bella for sure Im scared he will hurt her. But I don't want him being sexually frustrated....ya know! |

I think it's easy to teach them to hump one thing. If he humps the one thing your ok with let him do it. When he focuses his humping on something else, like your arm, his fursister, or his skinbrother, then you say no and remove him or the object. Like you said, consistency and patience and eventually they'll get it. :) |

I hope it works out for you. :) |
Ban humping, its so boring wen dogs hump constantly, if he humps other dog he's trying to dominate (or just wanna get laid haha) but just ban this behavior. |
I would make him stop, IMO I can't stand when dogs hump other dogs. In fact my friends yorkie/pom (todd) humps Pnut whenever they are together and it drives me bonkers! I know it bugs Pnut also! |
Ya know, since I got Bevo neutered, he's doesn't hump anything! |
Kaos used to hump one stuffed animal dog a lot. I got him fixed when he was like 5 monthes and he never did it again. :) |
lol, ziggy humps alot too. but i stop him when he does it. |
I'm the type that doesn't mind the humping as long as both dogs are ok with it. I have three dogs two that are fix and one girls that's not yet. If my neuter male tries to hump my not spayed girl she gets mad so I separate them. My spayed girl LOVES humping Lil' Man and he doesn't mind. I have seen her given him belly rubs afterwards :D I have seen other female hump Lil' Man so I just think his a ladies man :) His not a humper unless the female is in heat. |
Dink is neutered, but still has those times when he likes to hump. He does it when he plays with his Poodle friend, Brandi. It's not excessive, and I figure he has to have some fun. The poodle's mom always says, "Get a room." I just shake my head. Pretty harmless. Before neutering, he went after one of his squeaky toys quite excessively. I probably would have taken the toy away from him sometimes if he had not changed after neutering. |
Buster has a snuggle puppy (stuffed animal) that he humps. I figure it is a stress reliever and don't mind that he does. He is quite the rodeo cowboy but always kisses (licks) the dogs ear after wards so he is a romantic. If he was to try and hump a person or another dog I would discourage it but see nothing harmful about his fun time with BeBe the snuggle puppy. |
I'd stop it also. I would not pick him up & move him. |
Bennett didnt start humping things until after he got fixed...I try to stop it but he doesnt listen so i just walk away....Since he is neutered its not a sexual thing its more to show dominance. He only humps his blanket that goes over his kennel...My 4 year old niece came into my room one nite and he was humping his blanket and she asked what he was doing, I panicked and said he is being a werido...and now whenever she sees him humping his blanket she yells Bennett stop being a werido...haha |
