| Potty brakes for adult dogs How often do you make your adult dog go potty? Callie has a doggie door and goes out when she has to and boy can she hold it forever. But I ask this because when its raining I think she holds it way to long so I send her out for potty brakes. How often would you or do you send your adult dog out for potty brakes?

| Gracie and Rubin go out 4 times a day unless they ask to go out in between. Exampel 8:30 am, 1pm, 5pm, 11pm The puppies about every 2 or 3 hours. Our Lab Lily only needs to go out about 3 times, she can hold it 10 hours or more ! |

| Ziva (aka peepuddle ) goes out every 2-3 hours during the day, either to pee or poop, never at the same time! Thank goodness she goes on a potty tray in the garage when its raining or dark. The wheaten would just go morning, noon and night- but since I'm taking Ziva out I make her go more often. |

| Ginger goes out first thing in the morning when we wake up; whenever that is. Then I let her out as soon as I get home, so she may hold it from around 6am til 3 or so when the kids get home from school. Then I let them out around dinner time and then again right before bed whenever we head upstairs. Ta-Tudie is crated with her and has never had an accident (knock on wood) and is on the same schedule. I am a little tense about how Fergie will do when she's home for the first time Monday... |

| My girls never go outside alone. I wait till one of them either does a little spin in a circle or one goes to the door, then I get all four to go out and I keep them outside for about 10 minutes while I pull weeds or trim a bush. No matter where you live, there are birds of prey that can either carry a Yorkie off or do some major internal damage trying to carry it off.

| You'd be surprised what eagles can carry off. This is my main fear living here on the island and it has been known to happen. Last year a yorkie was picked up down in the beach area by an eagle. Thank God the eagle dropped him but the poor little guy ended up with 2 broken legs. I'm always close by when Howie's in the garden and when walking down at the beach I'm always on my guard. |

| F.y.I Eagles have been known to kill full grown deer and pronghorn antelope, but an eagle can actually carry only about half it's own weight. Eagles weigh anywhere from 8-15 pounds, which means they can only carry prey that is about 4-7 pounds.

| Ellie is just weird about potty. She probably should go out every 2-3 hours. Rylee (when we aren't having urinary issues with him) can go a very long time. Hours and hours.. During the day when I'm home he asks to go out a few times a day. If he doesn't ask, we don't go. I have to guess with Ellie. Rylee is 15 pounds and he is not allowed outside alone. Well, I'd make an exception for my pups if I was staring out a screen door at them or something. Still with Ellie I couldn't really even be comfortable doing that. People love to steal dogs, especially Yorkies. There have been Yorkie thefts all around here. Usually it's the whole just letting them out for a few minutes thing and then their dog is gone forever. People wait and watch for them. IMO, it is completely unsafe to let small dogs out alone (and probably large ones too). Notice when there are missing Yorkies on YT, it's not because somebody broke in the house (although that does happen). It's that the dog was sent out before the owner. Stolen. Got out of the unlatched gate. Got attacked. Owner wasn't watching dog in the yard even if out there with them. Better safe than sorry.

I dont let Callie roam aimlessly in the back yard for hours or anything. I can see the hole yard from our kitchen table where I sit with my computer and check on her every few minutes. Her favorite thing to do is sun right outside of the door on the deck and she likes to go out until she gets hot then come in until she cools down and then go back out. Me and my grandpa are crazy about checking the gates. Callie is very cautious of people she doesn't know even if they offer food. She doesn't go out at night much unless she has to go potty and I do watch her those times the hole time.

| I feel like Roxie wants to go out a million times a day sometimes...LOL. When I am at work she can stay 8-9 hours with no problem. When we are home, she scratches to go out every 2 hours or so. Though, I have to be honest, with the bad weather today, she only scratched to go out once. We took her out two other times, but she was very reluctant to go. She hates rain, and I guess decided to hold it as long as she could to avoid going out in the torrential rain.

| Well, like, in the storm last night, he held it for 12hrs overnight. I forced him outside around 7pm and we woke up again around 7:15am. He refused to go out and he won't go in the house usually. I checked all over for poop with no luck. Highly doubt he peed because he never does in the house but I was just hoping he would last night lol. I am pretty sure he was curled up to me all night, we did not have power lol. But in general, he willingly holds it for 10 hours overnight. During the day, he's usually out every 4 hours.
