I'm so excited, made my first rag quilt and it came out so cute. Shinja was so kind to send me a couple you tubes to watch.

It was so easy...now if I just had an embroidery machine...I could be stylin like Lis Sis, ;)

Wow, Tena! The rag quilt is beautful! You don't have a lazy bone in your body, girl!:D Send me the two You Tubes and I'll have a go at it, too! I made one by machine not too long ago. I need to post a pic of it. Actually, it is pictured in the raffle thread, along with Betty Boop and her new nightie from 107Barney. Your colors are prettier, though.

Sure, it's an 8" square, then sew with 1/2 " . So very easy.

It done with flannel materials. I have been looking for more yorkie print flannels, but so far, can't find any. :(

Oh, and I cut 6" batton for each square. Hope this helps. Be sure to post when you get it made ;)

I can't find the exact link I watched, but get on you tube and type in rag quilts there is many, just watched one and they are all the same process.

Good luck girls...have fun and post me some pictures when you got them made :thumbup:

You tube said flannel material, but I'm going to try my next one out of my woven (cotton) scraps too.

I love the 2nd picture with her yawning. After I snapped it, she immediately dug it up and went for a snooze. :D All that work and the digs on it like crazy, LOL. Looked at me like....well, it is mine :p

The backing is like little pale yellow pins stripes, so I rotated each square opposite instead of all going the same direction. Can't really tell that by the picture. I looks really pretty like that on the back too.

Thanks all. Yes, just go to you tube and then search rag quilt. Several different ones with come up. I watched a couple of them and then started doing one.

It's really simple, cut 8" squares for your quilt top, then 8" squares for your backing, and I cut 6" batton(I used low loft batton) it was perfect, for each square to lay between the front an back square, the sew 1/2" all the way around that square.

Then joint the squares with the seam on top of quilt, it will show. Once all the squares are jointed, I did 5 squares across and 5 squares down, love the size, but you could make it a big as you would like, you clip every 1/2 or so along the seams that showing on top. Also, once joined sew a 1/2 around the out edge too. The outer edge will also be clipped 1/2 all the way around.

Wash it and pull off all the remaining loose threads and that's all there is to it. It's so easy and you will love making it!:):thumbup:

Thanks!!! Once I make one, I will post it!! It won't be for awhile though. I've recently learned to make no sew fleece blanket and I LOVE it!!!

That is so beautiful! I actually buy rag quilts for my daughters and yours is so much prettier than the ones I have purchased (shh... don't tell them I said that)

Zhoie is on it right now....and loving it! She goes crazy digging it to the exact right spot...good thing it's already fringee :D
