| ![]() This is something new with both Brody and Rhianna . . .they had metal food dishes that all of a sudden became an issue. They would eat from it, then walk away and when they wanted more from the dish, they would just stare at it awkwardly . . .like as if to say "I'm not eating from that" So I replaced those dishes with plastic figuring maybe the metal was starting to taste funny or something? ![]() And like a trained fool, I've been doing it . . . ![]() Any advice on what could be causing their strangeism? ![]()

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() People have said that some dogs may get spooked because metal dishes have a reflection, plastic dishes can probably pick up odors, and dogs are very sensitive to odors, their noses are 1000 times more sensitive than ours. I like porcelain dishes, they have no reflection, no smells, and lead can’t leach. Lol, otherwise just use the paper plates, I think dogs like these because they’re quiet. By the way, do you dogs wear tags? Sometimes that sound made from tags tapping on the side of the bowl bothers them.

| ![]() Neither of my boys will touch plastic, with the exception of the occasional Aquafina bottle. I recently changed their water dishes from stainless steel to glass and they are loving it. Max didn't like seeing his reflection in the stainless steel. The water out of the glass must taste better too.

| ![]() No, no tags . . .but maybe there is something with the dishes making noise that spooked them . . . I'm going to try the glass and/or porcelain and see how that works . . .I feel kind of strange putting their food on a paper plate . . . ![]() Thanks! ![]()

| ![]() Yeah I use porcelain dishes and never had a problem with them not eating from their dishes. Try that!

| ![]() My Bella likes to carry her metal food bowls around and then hide them on me. Every feeding has become a game now. She gets excited and follows me while I search the house for her bowls. I have learned to put them up after she eats but it seems like feeding time isn't as fun to her anymore. Although it can be a hassle sometimes to try to find her bowls (she dumps the water bowl out and hides it also) I am tempted to go along with her game because she is so darn cute! ![]()

| ![]() HAHAHAHA!!! Must be something about the floor! MY boys will take food out of their bowl by the mouthful, then drop it all on the floor and eat it one by one off the floor. BF gets a kick out of it because they will eat it in the same room I am in. So if I am down the hall in our bedroom, they will walk back and forth down the hall with 5-6 pieces of food in their mouths, drop them in the bedroom, eat them and then go back for more. LOL

| ![]() There's another thread somewhere about how people's Yorkies will only eat off the floor or off plates. Mine is the same way. I don't know what it is about Yorkies wanting to eat off flat surfaces! |

| ![]() My Duke would never eat out of a bowl. If I put the food in his bowl he would play hockey with it around the kitchen and bang it off the walls until the food landed on the floor. We tried paper plates, same thing. I used to put it on the floor but that was messy. We got one of those pet placemats from Walmart ($5). I would just dump his food on there (had to spread it out too) and he would eat it from there. I guess its just a Yorkie thing, but we love them just the same. ![]()
