| Macy was spayed at 7 months. She had 4 baby teeth pulled at the same time. The 2 canine teeth had roots that were really long and the vet said they would not have come out on their own plus her permanent teeth were starting to poke through behind them.

| Hummmm I think I'll wait until she's around 8 or 9 months old then so we can pull any left over baby teeth and hopefully get her spayed before her first heat. Is it true that the little ones mature faster than then big dogs?? One of the vets told me that and I remember thinking she got it backwards cause I thought little dogs took longer to mature? Anyone know?

| Teddy was neutered at about 6 months old and he had 6 baby teeth removed at the time. No biggie. I would definitely spay before the first heat. Waiting until 8 or 9 months might be after a first heat although I'm not positive of this.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Each female will be different but a heat can occure anywhere from 6 months to even 18 months! The "norm" is 7-9 months. Just no telling when Bambi will have her first though. When you decide to get her spayed I would then at that time have the baby teeth removed. The canines I have had fall out on their own at over a year old so as along as there is no problem I always wait a bit. sometimes thats not possible though. and yes...she is growing up!!! TOO FAST! |
