| AbbyMax | 08-02-2011 05:11 AM | My little guy Max is going in to get fixed at the 6 month mark. He is currently 5 months so the time is drawing near. I would call your vet's office to discuss it and get prices so you will not be surprised or shocked at the fees. Depending on where you live it could be anywhere from $75.00 to $400.00 for the procedure. (My new vet charges $120.00, my old vet 2 miles down the street charges $325.00. Same procedure, meds, and stuff. The other fees are the same, so I am not sure why they are so much different for this.)
Max is doing well with the potty pad training and like yours sometimes has his feet on the pad and pees on the carpet - I still give high praise and rewards. I like to think he is exceptionally bright - he pees outside the box! LOL.
Max responds well to treats for rewards. I give him very small and very healthy treats - just a tiny piece does him fine. If Max sees Abby pee on the pad and get a treat, he runs over and makes a little pee for me and then runs up for the reward. One of my favorites is the Kong Stuff'N peanut butter. I squeeze out a tiny bit and let them lick it off of the tube. The tubes are a little pricey for peanut butter, but it is easy to dispense and lasts a long time if you only give a tiny bit. The first tube lasted with two pups for almost two months. |
