I guess I shouldn't hold him as much too. He would have more of an opportunity to pee on the pad but I hate putting him down. He's so fuzzy and he smells so sweet!

Lol, you tell it so funny, "he just stands still and looks all sweet and pees", it's really hard for them to tell the difference between a pee pad and the carpet. Joey learned much faster on the hardwood than on the carpet. You also have to use an enzyme spray on all the accidents; otherwise he'll think the carpet is a giant pee pad. The enzyme cleaners work because they get rid of all the protein in urine so the dog can’t smell where he went before. You have to spray on and allow to dry naturally. Deodorizing cleaners just aren’t as effective.

Ahhhh... I've just been using plain old Arm&Hammer carpet cleaner (I had a coupon). I am headed to Amazon right now to look that up. Thanks for the tips!

He is past 4 months now, so in a few weeks he would be 5 1/2 months and
most will be hiking by the time they are 6 months...over the years i have owned several males...i do believe they are more loving than my females

My daughter held Ahi for too long while lying down. Ahi tried to get away but my 5yr. old wouldn't let go. Ahi peed all over her chest. lol I thought it was funny. :D

My little guy Max is going in to get fixed at the 6 month mark. He is currently 5 months so the time is drawing near. I would call your vet's office to discuss it and get prices so you will not be surprised or shocked at the fees. Depending on where you live it could be anywhere from $75.00 to $400.00 for the procedure. (My new vet charges $120.00, my old vet 2 miles down the street charges $325.00. Same procedure, meds, and stuff. The other fees are the same, so I am not sure why they are so much different for this.)

Max is doing well with the potty pad training and like yours sometimes has his feet on the pad and pees on the carpet - I still give high praise and rewards. I like to think he is exceptionally bright - he pees outside the box! LOL.

Max responds well to treats for rewards. I give him very small and very healthy treats - just a tiny piece does him fine. If Max sees Abby pee on the pad and get a treat, he runs over and makes a little pee for me and then runs up for the reward. One of my favorites is the Kong Stuff'N peanut butter. I squeeze out a tiny bit and let them lick it off of the tube. The tubes are a little pricey for peanut butter, but it is easy to dispense and lasts a long time if you only give a tiny bit. The first tube lasted with two pups for almost two months.

I called the AKC and they said if the code was there, I have full registration. Period. So I won't worry about it again. Thanks for all the sound advice.
