Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice We're attempting to feed Gizmo Blue Buffalo Puppy, Lamb and Rice Formula to see if he likes it and to see if his pooping is a little more under control. We put it down tonight and he seems to be turning his nose up at it. :thumbdown I'll give it a few more days and see what happens. I love Yorkies, but if I could change one thing, it would be how picky they can be. Bah! Sorry venting. Discouraged. |
When you change the food, do so gradually by mixing a little more of the new food in with the old food each day. He might like the chicken and vegetable a little bit more. You could try that. Most seem to appreciate that variety.:) |

Yeah, we mix it. I don't think I remember seeing the Chicken and Vegtable. We got the lamb because we thought the less protein would be better with the constant pooping situation but who knows. All I know is I wish Innova didn't go to P & G:mad: |
We just switched butters from blue buffalo puppy lamb n brown rice last month. He liked it for a day, and after a couple of weeks we returned the unused portion to petsmart and started feeding him orijen. High protein but he has been doing great and loves it. |
I forget everything you've tried, but I do remember something about a very long list of foods. lol Is the P&G thing the only reason you aren't using Innova now? Honestly, all I can say is if I was in this spot, I'd bypass Blue (and most other newer kibbles that I used to like). |

Hi! I feed my Hana "Blue Buffalo Co. ~ Natural Chicken & Oatmeal recipe". She seems to like it a lot, however there are some days in which she will ignore her food...so what I do is I steam some mixed veggies such as broccoli, peas, & carrots. I chop them up and will mix her dog food with it. She absolutely loves it! Hana is now 6 months old and she still eats the same thing. I also give her Blue Co. treats etc... and give her veggies and fruits. I guess I just mix it all up! :) So far so good :) I hope Gizmo gives Blue a chance and ends up loving it :) |
Just fyi, Ellie's vet office sees a fair amount of dogs who are gassy on Blue (at least enough for one of the techs to take notice. lol). How is his tummy now? Is he having diarrhea? For how long? Well, let's start with, what foods have made his intestines unhappy and what were the ingredients in them? That is, has he shown sensitivities to any ingredients that happen regardless of brand (particularly the protein)? |

He seems to not like the lamb at all. No sensitivities to anything, just more eye gooey on some things. Only food he has diarrhea on was Orijen. Think that covers it. |
Gas is definitely not good. If he doesn't like this food, and he has gas on one of hte other holistic foods, and he has diarrhea on Orijen, etc., have you thought about going with something a little less holistic? Are there certain foods you are looking at now? Which ones? Part of the choice should be based on what is easily accessible to you. |

What do you think? |
For many reasons, I believe that is a great choice. That and the one I'm feeding Rylee (SD Nature's Best) are at the top of my list. If he doesn't do well on the current food, we will be going to RC also. And the nice thing about it is that it's easy to get at PetSmart. |

FYI Cammie the baby I had who had Cushings was on SD rx and it helped to much. So, I'm not one to turn it away. I'll let ya know how he does. |
Hope it works for Giz. IMO, it's a better option than anything holistic. ;) |
