There is not much different in male and female yorkshire terriers !! The only different is that the bitch goes in heat 2 a year for about 3-4 weeks at a time (that is propably why someone said to you to get boy not girl, many people can't stand having bitches in heat but its not really a big deal you just have to watch out she isnt around males at that time unless they are neutered, if you spay her this heat deal will go away!). Male yorkies often have more energy and are much more hyper, but bitches are often very calm (but not all, I know very calm male and a hyper bitch !). Dont change your mind becouse of something some person said, I love both male and female dogs :D |
Welcome to YT! I am a first time mommy to a little girl who lights up my life with kisses and cuddles. Enjoy your furbaby, I know we would love to see a picture if her :) |
I have both 2 girls and 1 boy, our lil man Harley...Get what you prefer...cause with the right training, both are equal as far as potty training/training in general...both are very loving and full of personality. I would trade her for nothing keep her...cause sooner than you think...you will be adding another Yorkie to the family...they are VERY addictive! Only drawback I found with my Boy is...personal hygiene, leg lifter or not, when they pee pee it gets on their belly hair and if their coat is long, the peepee gets on that as well :thumbdown yuck!!...so I decided to give him a boy cut or what I call a boy cut LOL...he still has the part down his back and his coat is still one lenght, not layered at all...but I keep it cut short, right at his belly and I have all his belly hair shaved off...no problems at all now with his personal hygiene and it so much easier to take care of...I love it and he's sooooo cute.:D |

So the saying girls tend to be more of daddy's girl and boys tend to be mommy's boy isn't true? |

I have 2 girls and 2 boys. I got the girl first because I wanted a girl ( i have a boy skin kid), but 6 weeks later I got a boy so she would have a friend. Then I added another boy and girl. I love them all and everyone of them has a diffrent personality. Neither one of my girls likes bows or to dress up so I don't get to buy cute, pink clothes. They are al spay/neutered. |

To the OP, most breeders will say boys are more affectionate than girls, but there are enough individual differences that it depends more on your particular dog, not some obscure average. The idea of pet ownership should be YOU giving love and affection anyway, not really a dog loving you isn't it? That said, I believe girls are more fun to dress, but there are a lot of cute things for boys too. |
