Has anyone ever said your Yorkie isn't a REAL dog! My husband's uncle asked us, after telling him we had a Yorkie, "Why don't you guys get a REAL dog?":mad::mad: (insert curse words here) |

I on the other hand was so taken aback..that I didn't respond! auugh! |
I havent ever gotten that because Callie is bigger at 16 pounds but it sounds like a really mean thing for someone to say. I'm sorry someone said that to you. I think if someone said that to me I would say well this little "non dog" sure has a bigger heart then you and walk away but I think that would be harder to do when it its your husbands uncle. |
I hear it all the time - doesn't bother me at all. I usually reply that they're my attack dogs and they'll rip your ankles off if you're not careful! Darwin & Mabel are extremely friendly with people so my threat is never taken seriously. |

Yes- I usually just ignore them and feel bad for them because they obviously don't have the love of a Yorkie in their life. |
I haven't been told that, but I did have a lady in the lobby of my building Jump one time because I was carrying Riley and he moved.... and she said: OMG! I thought that you were carrying a stuffed animal!! We both laughed. :D |
Love the Taco Bell story! I don't care if it's a freakin' doctor who says that to me about my dogs next time, I'm gonna use that line! I made this video after the last time someone said that to me. http://youtu.be/R6yo5FUgs2Q |
My grandfather asks me all the time ''Is'nt that a rat?'' , it really pissed me off at first but its just a joke to him so I dont mind it today. Fido is rather big though, he's 13-14 pounds (6,6 kilograms), he's too big to be a rat :D |
All the time. But I just think to myself you have no idea what your missing. Besides I think of them as part of my family not a dog. They get treated like one of us. I love all animals big or small. Some people have no clue what it's like to love a animal. And what a sad life they must have |

I grew up with big dogs. Both of my parents didn't too much care for small dogs so that's all I knew. When I got my first dog on my own it was a cocker spaniel. Medium sized breed. I got a talking to from family about small dogs them but they ultimately said that small dogs work for me and my family. I think what my family likes most about my "little yorkie" is that he's not yappy and he is inexpensive to maintain. I've heard the Why not a real dog speech before but once they get to know Troy they quickly change their mind. |
