Clothing??what, when, why?? For those of you that love to dress your babys,I would like to know how often do you dress them up? Everyday? Just special occasions? Any outing? Do you prefer cotton clothes or knits? Why do you dress them up? For me..Its because I can and she likes the clothes. Actually gets excited when I open her closet,,ya she has her own closet. Does your baby have pjs? If a girl,do you have a bow to match EACH outfit? If a little boy do they wear bows or have special leashes? Ill start: Mina wear cloths most of the time. My DH said today that he is so used to seeing her in clothes that she looks funny without,,naked. Her hair is fixed and out of her eyes most days, but she kind of likes the Ringo Starr look too. She does not own any shoes, but I have seen them on others and they are cute. Pretty sure my man would draw the line there. Yes she is my little girl. She does not take the place of a daughter,I have three and got to experience ALL of the fun stuff that goes with daughters and the not so fun stuff. My family and friends respond ONLY with "AWWW she is just so cute". Im not crazy, just possessed and having fun. |
I like dressig Kaji too. It's harder for the boys. There's a much smaller selection and it's very repetitive. He spends 90% of the time in the nude, with just a tiny hair clasp to keep the hair out of his eyes. he does have a few cute bows, but he wears them rarely. My brother tends to get mad and says things to hurt my feelings, so I only put a topknot with a bow when I know he won't be around. Kaji is the proud owner of a snowsuit and boots! We haven't had a chance to use then, but I'm hopeful we will this winter. :) he tends to wear clothes more often when it's cold out. I love putting jammies on him!!! I save those for winter as well. he has a huge collection of tees, and I'm currently pining for a cute polo that I saw at Petco. It sucks not having a job. |
When Sophie was under a year old I would put sweaters and hoodies on her because of the cold Michigan winter. Now she is just over two and she might wear a hoodie when it's cold out. She also wears a coat for her walks when it's cold. Sophie wears a scarf almost everyday because I think she looks cute with a different scarf on everyday and because she refuses to wear a bow in her hair for more than 30 seconds. During baseball season she wears a Detroit Tiger T -shirt and during football and basketball season she wears a Michigan Sate T-shirt and scarf. |
Bentley has a snowsuit and boots for winter time. He has mostly cotton shirts that he wears on chilly days or nights. He has pajamas for the really cold nights. He gets brushed every morning and I put up his top know in a band and scrunchie. Oh, and he has a tux for those really special occasions!:D |
It depends on the season. In the winter Chloe almost always has something on- she gets cold very easily, even in the house- so she will wear little cotton dresses around the house, hoodies when we go out, and pjs at bedtime. Armani doesnt get cold easily so he will get a hoodie or jacket when we go out. In the summer I dress them a lot less because they don't need the clothes and it is less hassle for me if they are naked because then I don't deal with knots and such. I will dress them on special occasions in the summer though, like Chloe gets a birthday dress each year on her birthday and Armani has this cool Hawaiian shirt. Mostly, I dress them out of necessity when they are cold- but that doesn't mean they can't be cute outfits at the same time. haha! They have accumulated a pretty extensive wardrobe even though they don't spend that much time dressed. I prefer simple cotton outfits because that is what they seem most comfortable in- they love their hoodies, t-shirts, cotton dresses, etc. but if I try anything too elaborate on them they will complain until I take it off. My two won't even let me put bows in their hair or anything. If they complain about something or seem uncomfortable I take it off immediately and do not try again, so the only things they wear are things that they actually like wearing. I have said it before, but I always find it funny that people say how horrible it is to dress dogs, that it is abuse, etc. and then turn around and buy these huge leather collars with spikes all over them and stuff- I can only imagine that is way more uncomfortable for a dog then a hoodie or t-shirt. |
Princess has limited clothing items & most no longer fit her, but I like t-shirts & dresses for her and usually only in the cold weather. She also has a winter coat if we go out & play in the snow. On the rare occasion the A/C makes it cool in here I put on a tee, esp. at night when I can't see if she starts getting cold. I wanted to initially dress her up because it's just so cute but now I do mostly for practicality. She looooves getting dressed, she lunges head first into the head opening, it's so funny. She has a lot of general bows that I can match her clothes to but nothing specific. I save the bows for special occasions or pics. Most family events I don't use one because my mom's dogs always get them out of her hair. I don't like knit because I worry her nails or something else will get caught, but I would like to buy some plain tee's & customize them myself.:) |
The first year of Suzi's life I would buy her clothes. So we have a good selection of them. I don't dress her much anymore. However, in the winter she will have her jacket on, or her rain coat. If you start putting clothes on them as puppies thy are use to it. I have also put clothes on her for special occasions. A yorkie +clothes =pure cuteness:) |
Yeah, Zhoie has something on most of the day in the winter, mostly t-shirts around the house and a nightie to sleep. She's not real fond of pj's. She has several coats for winter, a snowsuits to play out in and a few rain coats. She does own 1 pair of snow boots. I love dresses on her, but she is more comfy in a tank or tee around the house. We dress to go out or occasions. We mostly do bows for the same reasons, she's not fond of them either, so we use colored bands. Even with the A/C on, she will come to me if she is cold and I'll put a tank or tee on her and she's a happy girl again. Oh, and I like mostly cottons, we not big on sweaters at all, but do like fleece and hoodies. However, she doesn't care much for the hood, so I usually have to alter it and take the hood off. ;) |
isabella dressed daily with matching bows have been doing it since she was 10 weeks old.She likes it holds her paws up to help lol:) |
My brother tends to get mad and says things to hurt my feelings, so I only put a topknot with a bow when I know he won't be around. I am probably alot older than you, number 2 child with ONLY brothers. My response to my brother when I was a kid and dressed my tiny poodle was "stuff it".Today it would be the same. Dont let people make your decisions for you. If he can keep you from doing something fun by making a comment, then he will. I tell my kids "be an Eagle, not a Sheep". Save your pennies and go get the polo shirt. Ive seen it and it is adorable. |
I'm a middle child, and only girl as well. I would love to tell him to shut up, but I look up to him and I'm scared to stand up to him. If it were anyone else, I wouldn't care. I am saving up for that polo. Kaji's birthday is in about 2 weeks and he needs a new shirt to wear on his birthday :) |
Both Emma and Carmel have tons of clothes and a pair of shoes. Oh, they also have socks...lol...why have shoes when there's no socks?? :p They also have tons of bows :p My bf thinks I'm crazy cuz I spent so much money on "accessories". I just tell him that it makes me happy and it's MY money. :D They don't like the socks and shoes...I tried to sell them, but then I find it hard to part with them  I will try and see maybe they will like it later :D They have more stuff than me! I enjoy spoiling them...it's and addiction...it honestly makes me happy when I buy stuff for them. lol As for clothes, I dress them up when ever I feel like it :p...of course, when it's super hot, I would not dress them up. I prefer dressing them up for winter and for special occasions. |
Love this thread...very cute! Lexi is always dressed, as she too looks naked without clothes. She has been dressed since the day we brought her home and she will be 3 in November. She too has matching bows and wears jammies to bed. After her bath and when she is completely dry she will go stand by her dresser to get dressed. She sits there and will whine until you come and get something on her. Even my sons (who are 27 and 26) think she looks naked when she has nothing on...too funny! I too like cotton best but it depends on the weather. I have to laugh sometimes I put 3 different pairs of jammies down and she will pick the ones she wants then get her blankie and little piggy and she is ready for bed :D with us of course :D |

AAAAWWW that is just tooo cute! Mina has been wearing onesies and tshirt type dresses for the summer. She too likes to pick out her own clothes. Everyone makes a big deal about her picking out. Even my kids (20 and 16) get into it,telling her what they think. When my youngest daughter was little she had a dress that I loved and she hated. Cute pink and white with a watermelon wedge for a collar. She started teasing me about it lately,so I looked it up in her photo album. Mina's watermelon dress will hopefully be finished sometime this week. |
Gracie is my youngest (she Just turned 1 this month) and is the littlest @ 3.9 pounds. I didn't get into dressing my first one, Rocky, as he just needed to be tough, and for some reason I think the girls look so sweet in clothes. Most places do not have real cute boys clothes. Anyways, then came Rosie, and she never really liked wearing clothes. She would try to take them off. Sooo, when I got my little Amazing Grace, I started putting clothes on her right away, and she loves it. Like others have said, she looks naked without clothes. She wears them all the time. I brush her daily, fix her hair, change her outfit, etc. I don't brush her teeth, which I guess I should do. LOL !! She will sit on my lap real still so I can change her clothes, and never pulls on them to take them off. Then of course I have Candy, my dachshund, 13 yrs. old, and I have never tried to put clothes on her. But I love buying clothes for Gracie and she loves going shopping with me. I even take her to Lowes with me. Home Depot won't let dogs in. Ok I have talked enough. :aimeeyork |
