I do not dress my girls up every day. But I dress them up a lot. :D However, when it is 107 degrees outside we say forget the clothes. My main reason is special occasions. Every holiday we go to my parents. Rosie always has a dress for that holiday. And now Mikki will too. Pictures of course is another reason to dress them up. As far as the material, I am not that picky. However, tend to like cotton. Why I dress them up....hmmmm, because I think they look so cute! :p I have my first pj's for both Rosie and Mikki (thank you Jenny!!!!). As far as bows go, I have so many it is ridiculous. Yes, I like to have ones that match their outfits. However, I do just buy them if I think they are cute. I buy way to much for my girls. But I think it is fun!!!! |
I only dress mine in the cooler months and winter. Also, I dress them for the occasional holiday and when I buy a new outfit and do a photo session :) Finnigan absolutely loves having clothes on...he even gets excited when I grab a belly band. Gwenni is indifferent. I would never dress them in the summers, I had to shave Gwenni down because of the heat I can't imagine having a layer of clothes on top of her fur right now. I forgot questions I dress them for warmth and because its so darn cute! Yup, we have pj's but those are reserved for the really cold winter nights. |
Halloween! That's another reason I dress Kaji up. |
Oh yea, I didn't answer the questions. I guess I dress Gracie up because i think she looks so cute in clothes, and others do also. I don't put anything heavy on her, because we live in Florida, so it is something light. She usually has something on every day. Sometimes i let her go without any clothes, and we tell her she is naked. :D |
Callie is dressed most of the time except when she hot them shes nakie. It the summer the ac makes her really cold so when she is going to be inside she has a light shirt on but if she is gonna be outside or running around like crazy with my moms yorkie Sammy then she is nakie. In winter mostly she wear sweaters all. All in between months she normally in a tshirt of tank top. I do like to make the close dressy if we are going some where or have people over. Callie loves her clothes after I change her she prances around to everyone in the house so they can tell her she pretty and they do, she has worn clothes sense she was a puppy and she will on her own when I hold the shirt out put her head through the head hole then lift on leg while I hold the side out and slide her leg through then do the same for the other side. Callie also wears a fleece night gown at night because I like my room cold and have a ceiling going all the time. I think because I dressed her starting when she was a puppy that she relied on the clothes a lot for warmth because she really gets cold nakie now. |
I take Allie and Noah in Home Depot with me. They claim to be pet friendly..... Quote:

Home Depot mulls ban on pet dogs after attack | CHFI Found this dated April 2011. I don't dress Allie and Noah everyday, but do like to dress them. My kids teasse that the dogs have better/bigger wardrobes than they do. |
I put Copper in t-shirts and sweaters if it is cold. He does tend to get cold at times. I make his harness vests...so when we walk in the park or go in the car, I put him in a harness vest with a ring on the back. I don't attach the leash to his collar because of possible neck injury. When I got him, I bought him at least 3 fairly pricy strap type harnesses. What a joke! They were mostly too big or appeared ill fitted or uncomfortable. The last time I tried one of these....I put it on him and made a quick run to the bathroom before our walk - when I came out, I discovered he had managed to wiggle around enough that the thing was now on upside down with the ring hanging from his tummy. I said, "Ok Houdini, we are done with this kind of harness." (I still can't figure out how he did that.) The velcro harness vest is easy to put on and take off when our walk is done. I try to make them cute. I've had a couple of comments from people who think dogs in clothes are ridiculous, but I find them practical and don't care what others think. I'm not a person who would usually put clothes on a dog, but yorkies seem to have times that almost require them. |
I usually only put Levi in clothing during cooler months because he gets cold. I'll occasionally put him in something holiday or special occasion themed as well. He's never minded wearing clothes, and if he did, he would be naked all the time. :) His wardrobe consists of sweaters, hoodies, jackets, coats, and T-shirts. Prefer cotton or fleece for comfort. |
I have learned a lot since my first yorkie, Rocky. I wish I had started putting clothes on him as a puppy. I can put clothes on him now, but I don't think he ~really~ likes it. Where Gracie, I started putting clothes on her right away. Rosie is Gracie's mama, so I have Always had her with me. I just think our babies look soooo sweet with clothes on. Males, or females. |
Hmmm, I was in Home Depot Saturday with Mina. However she still pretty much fits in my hand. Even had to ask for help from an employee. |
I used to dress mine up all the time but now when they are 6 it is just usually special occasions or when I take them somewhere |
This has been a fun thread for me and I appreciate everyones response. Its nice to know that I am not just a crazy doggie lady or atleast Im not alone in my insanity. Hopefully others will respond. |
Bella has her dresses and pj's. I dress her special occasions and not so special. She wears her jammies in the winter time. We sleep without heat in our bedroom so she has to have something on. She also has a winter coat with boots. They diffently came in handy this past winter. Bows of many many colors. I love it. |
We've had Ozzy for a month and we just got him first clothing item last night; a blue sweater. I'm concerned about him getting cold/wet since it rains A LOT where we live (fraser valley, british columbia). He is ok in the rain but I can tell he'd rather be dry. I'm trying to find him a good rain coat, but haven't found the right one yet. Surprisingly, my b/f won't let me put a top knot on Ozzy, but he absolutely loved having the sweater on him... go figure  P.S. I'm glad someone started this thread, since I was thinking of asking the same questions! |
