who has the largest and who smallest pop I have a friend who has a son who has a wonderful job with Pepsi and just moved to Hobokan, N J. and he said it was such a small town. I wanted to see how far he was from Megan and it's not too far but I thought if his town is small what's the size of Megans.....her's is 7.000 Hoboken much larger. My town is so small and it's much much much larger. I thought it would be fun to see out of all YT members in the US and outside the country who lives in the smallest and largest towns and tell us your population whatever the size. NYC doesn't necessarily have to win being the largest since we are working with the world. If you don't know the population google population of _____ |
yay!! yup mine is 7,000 i'm sure there are smaller ones in the world!! :D hang on, i'm going to go find out the exact population! ok...its 7,148!!! :D |
Brooklyn, NY (Kings County) - Population is....2,475,290 |
We have around 60k in our town. So, it's not too small or too large. |

14,361 residents here in my town in NE Ohio. :D :D :D |
Now when my husband and I got married, we moved to the booming metropolis of Byers Texas. I would not be exagerating to say that there were under 175 people in that town! No stop lights but did have a blinking light in town, a post office and a gas station/grocery store. REAL small town! |

Small town My husband grew up in a town called Wamsutter and his mom still lives there Wamsutter is a town located in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 261 |

Seattle I live in Seattle Census 2000 Population: 563,374 Households: 258,499 Median household income: $45,736 Adults with college degree: 53.6% |
Schriever, Louisiana. Terrebonne Parish. Population around 5,000 according to the last census. There is nothing much here. Schriever rarely shows up on a map. But, I am right in between Thibodaux and Houma and those show up on a map. Houma is getting to be pretty big and spread out. Almost the size of Lafayette now. Houma is just 9 miles south of me. I live 60 miles or an hour drive southwest of New Orleans. I live near the hurricane prone coast. "Cajun" country and proud of it. |
When I saw this and read POP, I was thinking stud or daddy doggie... LOL Population in my town is 66,327, but the 'township' consists of a lot of smaller neighborhoods like Megan's. NJ is decieving because in most of the state (especially metro NYC where we are) there isn't any open space between towns, so there is no way to tell when you've left one town and entered another. An expression I had never heard until I moved to Jersey is 'town center', which refers to a 'Main Street area' amid the suburbia. As a whole, we're pretty heavily populated... Which makes me want to do a google on state size and population. I bet NJ is way at the top. :p As congested as it is in Northern Jersey, South Jersey is actually very agricultural. Hence the state name 'The Garden State'. Back to google I go.... |
Dork that I am, I checked... Here is what I found on Infoplease.com. The stats are for 2004. Here are the top 10 plus Alaska. The first number is population. The second number is population per square mile. And, yes, Jersey is up there!! :D 1. Callifornia - 35,893,79 - 217.2 2. Texas - 22,490,022 - 79.6 3. New York - 19,227,088 - 401.9 4. Florida - 17,397,161 - 296.4 5. Illinois - 12,713,634 - 223.4 6. Pennsylvania - 12,406,292 - 274.0 7. Ohio - 11,459,011 - 277.3 8. Michigan - 10,112,620 - 175.0 9. Georgia - 8,829,383 - 141.4 10. New Jersey - 8,698,879 - 1,134.5 47. Alaska - 665,435 - 1.1 Jersey made the top 10 population, but we blew everyone away in the per capita numbers. Probably nothing to brag about... :p The only higher per capita was DC with a little over 9,000!!! That's a lot of hot air per square! Now Alaskayorkie - you were reversed!! I started by looking for the ranking of most of states where we seem to have a lot of YT members, and realized that we were in line with the top 10.... Okay, I'll take my dork/nerd hat off now!! :p |
