Your baby's name ? how did you chose your yorkies name? Does anyone ever comment to you about it? whether they like it or not? what and how do you react if so? |
My husband and I made a list of names we thought would be appropriate. Since Pixie is so small, we tried to stay with words that portrayed her tiny stature. Then I asked a few people what their favorite name on the list was (everyone had a different favorite). In the end, my husband and I just picked our favorite... |
Well we waited until we saw her and we really like either Lilly or Bell, but we couldn't decided so we decided to use them both lol. so we are calling her lilly bells ;) I think it fits her perfectly |
Well we chose Riley's name because Riley means like brave. When Riley was a little puppy he was very small (compared to our old basset anyways) and sooo helpless and scared. The name is alaso Irish (so are we) so we really loved it! TJ's name came about in a different way. TJ took us about a week and a half to name. Nothing seemed to fit at all. I just loved the name Theodore but I didn't want anyone to call him Theo. My mom wanted to call him Junior. We put them together (Theodore Junior) and came out with TJ!! :D |
I guess alot of people don't really like the name Taylah--as I found out yesturday! Me and Tay went to my grandmas for a bit to spend some time with her and visiting other family that was there and my Mom and all, and well my Mom's BF is such a rude guy--honestly. They have always picked on me about Taylah's name and say it just doesn't fit her -- mostly because *they* don't like it. Sooo to pick on me and so forth they decide to confuse my baby and call her Ta-wan! Which makes NO sense.. and I've asked over and over why they do this and they are like, "Well Taylah is a stupid name and so is Ta-wan, so whats the difference? Grrrrrrrrr.. it makes me so upset! And of course Tay doesn't answer it to it, but its just the point of it. :( |
haha I forgot to anaswer the part where I got the name from! Well since my Dh technically named Daphne (our pom) I wanted a sassy name by ME for our next baby. First I wanted all sorts of names.. but fell in love with Taylor (I LOVE this name for a skin-baby but my husband doesnt like it, so I wanted to kinda use it for our furbaby :D), I just decided to *sassy* it up a bit and got Taylah... I LOVE her name and my husband does to. He says it fits her to well and shes starting to grow into it, and I love it. :D |
I think Taylah is a very pretty name. I dont think they know what they are talking about. My husband and I thought up Chachi's name. My daughter wanted our female to be Jewels. Our breeder had a jewels and my daughter liked the name. I have gotten comments that Jewels is a pretty name. No one has really said anything about Chachis. |
The breeder named her Trixie. She did tell us we could change her name if we wanted too. And we were planning on it, until my mom said 'Oh, you named her after the queen. That's so cute' (I'm originally from the Netherlands and the queen's name is BeaTRIX). Plus I figured she'd been Trixie for 14 weeks by then and really listened to her name. When I tell people her name they always say that it's an old-fashioned name. That a lot of dogs were named Trixie back in the days. |
Well since Simon was a rescue, I never thought of names so I watched his little personality for awhile and was debating between Simon (after trash talking Simon Cowell on American Idol) and Emmitt (after my favorite xmas movie Emmitt Otter's Jugband Christmas) but he preferred Simon! Hallie was 2 when I rescued her and that was her name, I thought about changing it to Sadie but figured she had been through enough and kept it. I get a lot of comments on Simon's name (people think it's a "funny" name) but I ignore them becuase frankly I don't care what they think ;) |
With Cali we had weeks to decide on a name before we brought her home so we had a list on the dry erase board on the fridge and we added and subtracted as we changed our minds. I really wanted Abby or Hailey but Cali short for California, where we wish we all lived, was the only name my hubby, dtr and I could all agree on. Everybody pronounces her name like Kelly, if drives me nuts, my dad calls her casi? |
Peawee actually picked his name. I wanted his name to be Charlie and after a couple of days that I had him my dad was sitting outside and was talking to him and said that he was a lil peawee he got so excited and came running up to him and would never answer to anything but peawee. So I guess it stuck. It's what he wanted but I have to say I prefer the name Charlie. |
My son named Jeter. He admires Derek Jeter of the Yankees and thought it would be neat to name the lil guy that. I must say that everyone that comments on his name, has something positive to say. :D |
me and one of my friends were talkin about names, and said she always liked the name yoshi, but her uncle was named yoshi so she couldnt name her future dog that. then i go to the breeder, and the husband of the woman goes "you should name him yoshi." done and done everytime someone finds out his name, they are always like "AWW THATS SO CUTE" |
we named our 5 month old yoshi tanooki that was a chracter from my boys video games. also have a doxie named zelda[legend of zeldavideo game]. you can get alot of name ideas that are cute just from the games.cathy and yoshi |

I said to a friend yeah I should be funny and name my dog Rambo. She was like, yeah you should. Told my mom and she loved it. I did try to think of other names but none of them stood out like RAMBO!! :p |
Well my cats name is Mercedes so I wanted to keep a car theme so Porsche turned into Porscha is was a last minute thing because when I went to the breeder I was getting a boy until I saw her! lol Now I am having trouble picking a nam for my new boy puppy when I went to get the first boy I had picked out Ferrari and now it's went from that to Carmine or Bentley. Everyone loves Bentley but I love Carmine....boo |

These are all such cute stories I feel like I need to pay you all back by posting mine. Hefner~ Most people laugh or giggle when I tell them his name which I consider a good thing...anything to make people laugh and feel godd..right? Hefner's breeder called him Lil Soldier because he marches around like he owns the room!! I almost called him Soldier but we kept trying to come up with a list of macho names since he was so small but soooo macho and charming too. My daughter said how about Hugh Hefner and call him Hughie? We named him Teal's Macho Playboy as his registered name and we call him Hefner. It's different! Chai~ My daughter chose this name from a huge list that we had compiled for several weeks before we got her. My daughter is a vegan, very natural, and into organic things plus she loves tea. Chai is the color of Chai Tea and our last name is Teal so Chai Teal is sort of cute. Her formal name is Champagne's One in a Million because of her unusual color, her mother's name was Champagne Lifestyles and her father who was Maximillion! I had never heard the name for a dog before and then there were only four dogs in the puppy kindergarten class and one was an apricot poodle named CHAI!! Most people react positively to the name. Buddha~ Buddha is my oldest daughter's dog and she chose this name because he is very wise, like an old man and always seemed older even as a young puppy. While he is playful and has energy, he is also mellow and seems to know when to behave and when to goof off. His formal name is Zen Warrior Buddha. Ava~ Ava is our baby and her formal is Southern Belle's Diva Doll Baby of Avalon....Her mother's name was Southern Belle and she has a babydollface. We love to vacation as a family at Avalon on Catalina Island so we thought about Catalina, but then Avalon fit because we all loved Ava as a call name. Most people like the name but think it is for Ava Gabor or Ava Gardner because that is how we pronounce it and because she is usually dressed like the diva she is!!! |
1 Attachment(s) I don't really know how Chattie became Chattie..... she was supposed to be Wicket but when she was very young she would make all sorts of chattering noises, hence the name Chattie. Peppy was already named when he came to live with me, but his name suits him well..... LOL he is a Peppy Tag-A-Long. Chizziewink is after a children's book The Chizzywink and the Alamagoozulum, which was a nonimee for the Georgia Childrens Book Award two years ago. For those of you who aren't from Florida, a chizzywink is a mosquito. And somehow the name Chizzie just fit the little ankle biter. |
Edith Jones Somehow, I think it is really funny to give animals serious people names. So I picked Edith. Since my last name is Jones, she is Edith Jones. She has become somewhat of a celebrity (TV, newspaper, radio), since my jazz band is named after her...The Edith Jones Project. Everyone also wants to know who Edith Jones is, and they laugh like crazy when I pull out her picture onstage. :D |
When I went to pick up Gracie, I thought of the name along the way. I had to go up to Houston to get her so I had a couple of hours. Rebel, I did a poll here and since he was such a turkey, Rebel stuck! |
I had origanially started making list upon list of names that I thought would be cute and ran them by my boyfriend, since he's picky and we didn't have the puppy yet he didn't like any of the names that I had down. So when we got Tigger we just watched him to get to know a little of his personality. He went nameless for a couple of days and I was thinking either Romeo or Prince because he's such a sweetie and cuddle bunny. But my boyfriend was thinking Rusty. I didn't care for it too much and then my boyfriend pointed out one day that he hops around everywhere and he thought that Tigger from Winnie the Pooh would be the most appropriate. Needless to say... It stuck. The only thing that people have really said about it is "That's a nice name." or something along those lines. |
Mine have "people" names. Gracie's name is Lindy Grace, named after my sister Linda who passed away 1 1/2 years ago, and my grandmother Grace. If I'd ever had a daughter I would have used Grace as her middle name, but since I didn't I gave it to my furry daughter instead! Griffin's name is Griffin Tucker, and I just picked Griffin because it went so well with Gracie. (Griffie & Gracie, Griff & Grace, etc.) Tucker is his middle name because when I was married, my husband and I wanted to get a male black lab and name him Tucker. Turns out, a year and a half into the marriage my husband had an affair and we just got divorced back in September, 8 days after our 2nd wedding anniversary! So I basically used Tucker as Griffin's middle name because I like it for a boy, and now if he ever gets his lab named Tucker he will know that I had Griffin using that name first! |
My husband kept saying "You don't need a little dog it will be a Pain In The Ass" but I wore him down and when we got our baby there was no choice but to name her PITA! LOL My husband's name is Pete so it's a little play on that too. Her registered name is Pita Pocket tho. I thought maybe the real version wouldn't be acceptable :p |

I've always liked the name Kelsey. I went to Walmart one day and they had a yorkie stuffed animal and it's name on the card was "kelsey". Since then whenever I saw a yorkie I'd call it a "kelsey dog" and when I got my Kelsey, it was only appropriate to call her Kelsey :D And boy does she know her name her head turns so fast when I call her..cute! |
Well, i had the hardest time picking out a namr...we were thinking of one before we ever even decided to get him....then his name was Dollar from where we got him and we were going to change it but when we got him he was sick and I didnt want to tramatise himmore by changing his name so we kept and!!! Oh his name is Dollar. actually we registered him as Thousand "Dollar" Baby |
