The dress is adorable!! and I love the harness Jennxling made too.
Both of my kids learned how to sew on a machine in highschool. I am self-taught on my grandmother's machine and I still have to read how to thread the thing!

I took a sewing class in H.S. & made DD a baby blanket on a machine. LOL! If you look at the thread you can see where I got lead foot & it's sewed really tightly, then elsewhere really loose. If I attempt sewing again, it will be by hand.:rolleyes:
The only thing I ever made Princess was a "tube dress" out of a cute legwarmer, lol.:eek:
If I remember correctly, you may need to adjust the thread tension on your machine when that happens... that's the small knob with the numbers on it. The knob next to it with the dashes sets the stitch length. Unless you have a digital and I'm clueless there. :D

ha ha.... I just saw this thread. I was just looking around and I saw my screen name... what a surprise!!!

The dress is really cute... great job!! It is better than the first one I made:eek::eek:

I teach my students both machine and hand sewing. A good hand stitch is always a nice skill to have.

As for the d ring -- I just looked at dresses I have purchased or even looked closely at pictures to see ways to attache d rings. You can make a little loop and sew it on with the skirt and cover it with the bow.
Many of my "designs" are from looking at other dresses and adding my own touch. Each dress gets a little better.

I am very proud of you!!!

Thanks!!! :):):) There are some flaws but hoping I learned from the mistakes!! :D Hubby says he will buy me a sewing machine for my bday if I want it.

Aww how nice! Now you just have to learn to use it. We have an old, very old sewing machine (not antique though) but I think it needs some internal work done, oil change or tune-up kind of thing? I don't know. The thread won't stay in the needle. The numbers dial is set to like 2 I think (mom keeps it at a certain number usually, it's her machine). I would love to make harnesses and stuff for Bentley but have no clue how to do it by hand, let alone on a machine. I don't think my high school had sewing classes. They had home Ec but I never took it. I think they learned how to cook in that class.

Those dresses look fantastic! Congrats on your hard work, both of you!

For old machines, I'd replace the needle, and vacuum out any dust. Google again on sewing machine maintenance for how to oil and clean your machine....
