Thanks so much for posting this thread.... getting April's (soon to be Harlie Dee's) brother Austen, I have the same interest. So far, I feel that my initial instincts are affirmed with: - Neutral meeting ground - Give equal attention - Allow Zoey (my two year old Yorkie) to get fed first, etc. (although not at different times - just before Austin) - Never leave them unattended until confirmed they are good together - And of course some of the regular puppy stuff (e.g., Nutrical, puppy food) And I love the idea of having a new toy set aside for Zoey, to aid in preoccupation. Of course, she already has more than she could ever need and Austen has a few already waiting for him... but shhhhhh, we will just keep that our secret ;) I can hear your excitement and I feel exactly the same.... only a few days left!! :happyboun :woof: :happyboun |

Do you think the car would be acceptable "neutral" territory? I could take Rylie with me to the airport to pick up my mum. I'm still learie of having Harlie outside before she has all her shots. I think our backyard would be relatively safe, but that's still Rylie's territory and wouldn't work. :( |

Of course, this is all new to me like it is to you - just my instinct. I saw that you too are in grad school - I hope it is going well :) OMGosh, I am beginning the hourly countdown versus weeks and days :D |

Almost a month ago I added a4 months old yorkie baby to my pack. Mattie is 10 yrs old and Abbey is 7. So far not so good......Miley wants to play and they want her to get lost! They run and hide from her and group together away from her :( I hope this changes or Miley will just have to get a playmate her age.....ssshhhhh dont breathe a word within 5 miles of hubby!!!;) |

I think Harlie will be okay in that department because Rylie is still a pup herself! :) Any excuse to get another is always a good thing though! :p |
When my buddy got her third yorkie puppy, she brought her home in her travel kennel. She kept the baby in the travel kennel when she brought her in the house and let the other dogs come to her. After about 10-15 minutes she opened the door. I don't think any of her dogs have really established herself as the dominant one - they are just silly friendly dogs. That was about a year ago and they get along great. Good luck. |
Found that post I was talking about. I was right, it was by Mardelin. Quote:

P.S. Rylie and Harlie got along famously from day 2 on (day 1 was filled with over excitement and over exuberant playtime). So we didn't have any challenges. :) |
