it happened here in Uk as well a few days ago... but this one got inside the property to get the dogs.. for them it was easy to jump a 6ft fence...:eek:

This is horrible it makes me sick to think of this happening to my dogs.

It should be a reminder to EVERYONE to be a little more careful with theirs.. i cant imagine what that must feel like. It really does make me sick to really think about it.

Another horrible story, my stomach just can't take it any more today. The terror of what the owner must be thinking.

Wow...do people actually plan these thefts? How do they know who owns what dogs? Do people spy on people or something? Those people should just go and get a job spending that much effort to steal people's baby! :thumbdown

Do you guys think it's safer to live in an apartment or a house?? :confused: I've just been wondering about this after this incident in Woodland Hills.

We live in an upstairs apartment and i feel its safer, apartments have less places for someone to break in through.

Okay so this story is really making me think. In less then two week my babies and I are traveling to a very large city for my cousins wedding. We are staying in the nicest hotel that I can find that allows dogs (Hilton). My grandmother has been telling me for a month now that I should not take Jezebel and Olivia because someone is going to take them from the room when I gone. Do you guys think that is a real possibility? Have any of you traveled with your Yorkies and stayed in a hotel? I will be there for 3 nights/ 4days. What precautions should I take to keep my babies safe when I gone from the hotel room and can not take them with me?

I stayed at Ceasar's in Vegas with my two girls. Everything went well. They did put a tag on the door dog in room. We were in a suite where you had to open two doors to get inside but i do not think you will have any problems. Have a great trip and enjoy.

We have a lot of doggy daycares here, Also kennels for people needing to leave their pets for a certain number of days. You expect your furbaby to be cared for and protected in these places but lately it is not the case. There have been several fur babies going missing in these places and leaves you wondering what in the world is going on. It's hard on the kennels as far as rep goes as no one wants to leave their pets there.Every day I realize just how many sick people there are in the world.

For a 3.2 pound dog... vaccines should never be given together with a Rabies shot. Always separate by 4 weeks....

What's the weight cut off for that? I have a 3.5 lb girl and a 5.5 lbs boy. Do they both need it separately or just the girl??

Also, as for microchip, my little girl got it when she was little...2-3 lbs and she was fine afterward. He squealed when they did it, but it's only temporarily. My little boy got it when he was 3 lbs and it was fine too. I guess different vet do it differently??

Not to go off topic here... but it is important: Vets 'in the know' are doing it for all dogs, regardless of breed or size. It's so much safer and much more effective to separate the vaccines, all the time.

Microchips now are smaller than a grain of rice and goes just under the skin. The needle used to implant the chip is scary looking, but they are specially designed to puncture the skin in such a way that it will close back up immediately. There are risks involved as with anything, but are generally considered very safe and effective.

This gets me thinking , because we are going to Vegas in October for a wedding/bday and ive already asked my mother if she can watch lulu for the weekend, but i dont know about leaving her now... its scary to think about the "what ifs".....

There was just a report on the news here in Georgia that someone broke in a mans home and stole one of his Golden Retrievers, he has 4. These dogs were being trained as service dogs and are worth $5,000.00-$20,000.00.
