Oh My, This is discouraging to read, I had one Yorkie die at fifteen> She was the healthiest and came from a family just breeding a pet. The two I had from Reputable Breeders seemed to have the most problems....I think a lot of those have inbreeding which makes genetic problems worse. I still believe good breeders are very few and far between. Of course many will tell you they haven't had issues. I say get references, some of the good ones can be pretty snobbish. |
I will definitely keep Gio in my thoughts and prayers today. I hope that all goes well. |
*Prayers for Gio* |
Gio is home and doing well he is in a little bit of pain but the good news is he is shunt free! Now just waiting on the biopsies thank u for your thoughts and prayers! |
Gio is going in and out of shaking since he's been home has anyone experienced this after surgery? The vet said it's normal but it's still scaring me. Has anyone experienced this? |
I know that people will shake for a few hours after surgery. The shock of what has been done to your body and he may hurt. He doesnt understand what is happening to him. All he knows is he went to sleep and woke up in pain and probably a bit confused. |
He had the surgery on Thursday night. I think he is in pain because he doesnt do it when he finally falls asleep. |
Gio is in our prayers. |
This is not ment to stir up controversy. This was the answer I got, when I ask this person why they after years of breeding Yorkies, they were now breeding mixed designer type dogs " I did not breed my Yorkies for pets. Mine were show dogs. If a puppy was rejected, then they became pets. People buy Yorkies for the look, they want a small, long haired beauty. They know nothing about the probems that affect the breed, or if they do, they think it will not happen to their dog. I did everything I could to breed for beauty and health. I tested for every thing I could. But, Yorkies are living creatures and have been selectivly breed for so long, it is like a copy, of a copy, of a copy. We have achieved the look but what is the price ? I wanted to breed small dogs that were healthy." She laughed here and said, "If they really want a dog that is affordable, doesn't need a special diet, is easy to care for, no groomer needed, with few health problems, easy to train, easy to housebreak, loveable, loyal and long lived ? I tell them to go to the pound, pick a brown mixed breed dog, that is about 25 lbs full grown. That brown mutt will not need baby teeth pulled, get liver shunt disease, be allergic to anything, get bad knees, hips, hypoglycemia, collapsed trachea or have pancreas problems. If they still want a puppy after my speech, I let them adopt one." |
Prayers for Gio for a good recovery and painfree. If he continues to shake, I would ask my Vet about if any pain relievers could be given. |
sending out prayers and get well wishes to your gio! i would also think the shaking is from pain and confusion. hope he's all better very soon! |
Emee came home on Saturday after being spayed, rear declaws removed and 2 baby canines pulled. She was shaking so bad yesterday early evening. We gave her the pain meds at 5:00 and she calmed down. The shaking stopped and she fell asleep. I think you might need pain meds for your baby. |
