Jackson is honestly the pickiest dog ever. There are treats that he will love one day and then turn his nose up to the next. He doesn't really eat Zuke's Mini's anymore -- used to love them. Anything crunchy and biscuit-like, he generally won't touch. Fruits and veggies are a definite no-go for Jackson. Cheerios he is iffy on. Some nights he will love them, but usually he looks at me like I'm crazy if I ask him to do a trick for a Cheerio. So my options are limited. We use |
Great Thread! I have gotten soooo many ideas on things to try, thanks. Mina doesnt like the store bought treats that we have tried and she doesnt like the homemade treats that the other 5 dogs wills scarf down. So far the only thing that I have found are green beans and real parm cheese ( not the dehydrated shakey stuff). But cheerios and Gerber fruit treets are definately something that I am going to try. She really doesn't like crunchy kibble food either,,,well unless the whole pack is eating together. Then she likes it because my red poodle is eating it. |
My puppy is rewarded with Zuke's after potty time and SHE loves them so much to the point that she will fake potty just to try and get some! She is a bugger but I love her! :animal36 |

Oh gosh no! She is such a stinker! And when she does go, she jumps up and cries when I am getting it out of the bag, you would think that is the only time she eats! lol |
Sophie loves the small Mother Hubbard baked treats by Wellness (all natural). We break them in half. We also feed her Wellness small breed kibble. She also likes any fruits or veggies we have let her try. :animal36 |
I seriously doubt that Tatum would turn her nose up at ANY treat but the main thing I allow her to have is Cheerios. Those are her potty treats and "getting in the kennel" treats. She gets 2 each time - well, almost... she doesn't get a treat every single time she goes potty. She's old enough now that a "good girl" works just as well. I do save one special thing for bath days. She gets half of a beggin' strips after her bath and blow-dry, followed by a bully stick. She really likes Cheerios though and it's cheap. |
Moshe likes the Wellness puppy treats. They smell like beef jerky and are soft and easy to tear in two. |

On the treat topic, my Dad used to give our Beagles "Snasages" treats all the time, well one of them had frequent loose stools - I told him to stop with the darn crappy snasages, he did, no more loose stool:rolleyes:. I personal have a strict rule that I don't give any treats sold in a grocery store (except the occassional Cheerio of course;)). |
Louie likes Wellness treats and apples, also Charlie bear treats. |
We're also having a difficult time finding small treats that Sugar likes, so really appreciate all the suggestions here. I have a question about how many often and how many at a time. Assume Cheerios, since everyone knows how big a Cheerio is. Someone just mentioned their pup getting 'two Cheerios' at a time for a treat. Is this about normal? I assume the number of treats varies depending on the treat given (meat, vegetable, Cheerio). How many and how often do you give (esp when training)? My husband likes to give treats but we don't want to go overboard and give too much - don't want to spoil her dinner and especially don't want to give her too much of anything not healthy. We've avoided all the grocery store treats after reading YT, but she's not been fond of most of the good stuff. She will eat a bit of carrot now and then and likes Fiber 1 (original). She's not a big Cheerio fan, though. |
Zoe likes BilJack "Lil Jacs"...she gets those for "come inside", bathtime, or when she needs a treat. We discovered them when she was tiny and wouldn't eat well. I know they're not the healthiest, but she doesn't eat many. For potty she gets small bits of dried beef liver. But, she will eat any and all treats we've tried so far. :) |
The one treat that both of my boys cannot do without is the Beefeater's Sweet Potatoe Fries. This is the go-to bribe and reward! Neo in particular, is SO picky about his treats will just scarf these things up. Connor is not as picky, but will absolutely whine if I don't get his out of the package fast enough, lol. The only other treat that they both like is the Pure Bites. Especially the chicken. |
