the consequences of a walk cut short. yesterday i took Tikka for a walk, and realized i forgot to put her harness on. she is in the process of being leash trained and she is a totally puller! she pulls so hard that she chokes herself out so we turned around after a couple blocks and went home, I couldn't find her harness anywhere but i knew a couple blocks was nothing compared to the 2km she needs. so i took her and pooter to the ball park to play off leash that lasted a good half hour but i guess it just wasn't the same! she got into bed at 10:45 like she does everynight and I thought she fell asleep BUT! at midnight... :rolleyes:she brought me her rope toy and whined for me to throw it... I hid it under my pillow and went back to bed. at 2:30am... :(she brought me a pair of my husbands socks and whined again to play... i hid those under the covers. at 3:00am... :eek:I heard Pooter get mad at her, and looked up to see her batting him in the face like she was a cat! finally at 4something am... :mad:she brought me her squeaky stuffed bone and laid down at my head squeaking it and whining... i was SO tired. Pooter was SO mad. and Tikka was WAY too hyper lol. I learned a lesson... 1. never lose her harness again. 2. 2km minimums for her walks. 3. neeeever skip a day. Lol do any of your furbabies have midnight energy or habits as well lol? |
Yes. :) If Levi isn't exercised enough during the day, he wakes me up around 2 AM with a toy in his mouth, ready to play. Needless to say, I try to make sure he gets PLENTY of exercise during the day! |
So, is she sleeping now during the day to make up for it? :D My girls sleep as long and hard as I do, thank goodness, and don't need a lot of exercise to get them tired. They are just snugglers. |
Every once and awhile mine will do this. However, I have taught them to play on their own- so they will usually bug each other to get up and go play together somewhere, or they will just take a toy and go off on their own and play. |
If Boobie doesn't get enough exercise, she'll chase the cat around the house at 3 a.m. & they make a lot of noise. |
Scooter is always ready to play no matter what time it is. The other night it was around 3 am and his toy must have gotten kicked off the bed. Well.......he took this as an opportunity to say Mommy let's play NOW. He sleeps with at least 3 or 4 toys right next to him. I wish I had just 1/10th of his energy. |
oh you poor thing!! Remy doesn't do as bad as tikka..but she is up at the crack of dawn with a toy.. ready to play EVERY DAY... geeezzzz you would think she would know the week ends :( |
Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one lol... I was like "you have to be kidding me" once she realized I wasn't having any of it she tried Pooter too, but he's just a big lazy fur ball he spends half of his day sleeping and sleeps ALL night... he got so mad at her last night I thought he was gonna start a brawl with her... good thing she's good at taking those hints from him though. @zcb that's soooo cute. Pooter takes all the toys and puts them away in his kennel, he doesn't sleep in there but it drives him nuts if all his toys aren't in his "man cave" lol when i try to play with tikka sometimes pooter isn't in the mood so he races down the hall and steals the toy and puts it away as if to say "not right now guys, these are mine. i'll give you permission later" |
Yes, my bobbi used to do that all the time. I would firmly tell him NOT NOW and to go to sleep and he sure did. Hes a polite little guy, lol |
Thankfully Jackson won't do that in the middle of the night, lol (thank God!) but if he doesn't get enough exercise, he will bother me in the evenings or whatever... I can't ever just sit down and watch TV or get on the computer if he's under-exercised, haha. He whines for attention! Luckily, he LOVES to sleep at night... the other day I had off school so we slept in til 11am together! |

@Britster... Tikka is the same wayyyy, she's a whiner when she wants to play, go potty, go on a walk, sit in my lap. Some days it's a little unnerving but she's so cute I can't get too mad. Most days we get enough exercise and it's not a problem. We also slept in today until 11am she slept... mind you she was up until 4something am haha! I just love Jackson btw!!... I wish Tikka would learn her tricks. I've taught pooter 7 tricks in 2 months, I think Tikka is going to be a challenge though. We'll see!! @Buster Brown... haha yes, they keep me entertained while the husbands away that's for sure! idk what i'd do without them :D |
early in the am for me because I sleep in and i go to bed late or right after I go to bed, ya goota laugh at the little burger heads |
Well Razz needs his exercise for sure. If he doesn't get enough too cold, too icey, too much rain, then we play, find the toy. It is a game he loves and he runs around and sniffs, and looks under things, till he finally or sometimes real soon finds the toy. I reward him. And we play the game again. After about three times he has worn off his energy. Then he is crated to sleep; if not he will chase the cat at least 2/3 times a night, and well with big dogs too, it is just not safe to leave him uncrated when we sleep. We are early risers here, so when I start to stir at 5am or so, I have two or three furbutts faces in mine, and tails a wagging to wish me good morning Mom, time to get up! |
small kong toys=life savvvvver here. i got her a small pink rubber kong bone with places for treats in both ends...wore her right out lol. |
