| If you own a dog, cat, or human, this is a MUST READ! If you care about the health of pets and loved ones, read this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...ntibodies.html This is 'why' many of us ask " When did your dog last get vaccinated" on many threads when dogs are exhibiting neurological symptoms! PTL and the reseachers for this study! Off to do a Happy Dance! It has begun.... vaccine reform! WooHoo!

“Our ongoing studies of dogs show that following routine vaccination, there is a significant rise in the level of antibodies dogs produce against their own tissues. Some of these antibodies have been shown to target the thyroid gland, connective tissue such as that found in the valves of the heart, red blood cells, DNA, etc. I do believe that the heart conditions in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels could be the end result of repeated immunisations by vaccines containing tissue culture contaminants that cause a progressive immune response directed at connective tissue in the heart valves. The clinical manifestations would be more pronounced in dogs that have a genetic predisposition [although] the findings should be generally applicable to all dogs regardless of their breed.” I must mention here that Dr Glickman believes that vaccines are a necessary evil, but that safer vaccines need to be developed. "Dogs’ and cats’ immune systems mature fully at six months. If modified live-virus vaccine is giver after six months of age, it produces immunity, which is good for the life of the pet. If another MLV vaccine is given a year later, the antibodies from the first vaccine neutralise the antigens of the second vaccine and there is little or no effect. The litre is no “boosted”, nor are more memory cells induced. Not only are annual boosters unnecessary, but they subject the pet to potential risks such as allergic reactions and immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia."

| You're very welcome. I just hope that everyone reads it. It's critical to dog ownership to know. JMHO.

| I read a majority of this - so basically in a nut shell, they're saying no vaccinations are needed after the first ones as puppies? I've only ever done every 3 years, but it looks like they're saying not even to do that? By law we have to do rabies vacc. every 3 years, but I'm seriously considering drawing the line there. Makes me seriously wonder about vaccinating my 6 yr. old son ever again. I cringe now thinking of everything he's been pumped with, especially in his first year of life Funny thing too - I'm transitioning my pets to a raw diet and most raw feeders don't vaccinate at all since the dogs and cats are "naturally" healthy and their bodies should be able to fight anything off on their own when being fed a species appropriate diet. I've also just started reading a book about how we should eat only whole foods since my son has ADHD symptoms and I refuse to give him drugs, so I'm seeking a dietary resolution. The book doesn't talk about vaccines specificaly, but it does talk about health in relation to diet and how so many drugs that are used could be eliminated simply by eating properly. This is all very timely for me since I'm really looking into and re-thinking what's going into our bodies; pets and humans. I think we're all brainwashed by companies making tons of money on vaccines, pharmaceuticals and processed foods. It's freaking me out lol.

| Thank you so much for posting this!!! I've only ever vaccinated my cats for rabies once they've been altered. I felt it wasn't necessary for them to have any others since they are always indoor only pets. Now I will do the same for my dogs, and only because it is required by law. Previously, I would have them get the DHLPP every few years since they go outside and out in public. I thought that I was protecting them Maybe someday rabies vaccination laws will change and we won't have to poison our dogs every 3 years.

| I may be wrong but i think in GA you do have to vacinate from Rabies every year. |
