Anyone's kids jealous of their Yorkie??? Anyone's kids jealous of their yorkie, or it is just an empty-nest thing? Both my kids (daugher 20, son 18) were home from college this past Easter weekend and while there was alot of joking about it, I seriously think they're a lil jealous of ZoE! Within an hour of being home, my son looked at my daughter and said, "we've been replaced by a dog!" and began jokingly blaming each other about whose idea it was to get mum a dog. My daughter said, "how come I don't get treats & love when I go pee?" and said, "you must love your furbaby more than your skinkids cos her Easter outfit is way cuter than either of ours!" To which my son replied, "what the hell is a skinkid???" It was all said jokingly & they were having alot of fun with it, but I think it bothered them just a lil bit to come home & see how happy I am with ZoE. Funny thing is, THEY, having grown up with a yorkie & knowing that's the only kind of dog I'd ever want, bought me ZoE after talking to each other & deciding with them both away at college, that I needed a pup for company. Anyone else notice a lil pup jealousy with their kids? |
My kids (21 & 17) are jealous too. . .:p . . .my philosophy is I raised them to become responsible young adults and they basically don't "need" me like my fur babies do . . .:p ;) |

My kids are grown and married. But they do tease me on how much I spoil Andy. |
My brother and I used to teased my mother too but she had a cat. I swear that cat ate better than me and my brother at the time. Turns out I'm just like my mother....apple doesn't fall to far from the tree because I now do the same thing with my furkids that my mother used to do. |

My daughter is 15 and loves my yorkie to death. (so much she Wants her own and will be getting one soon) my 13 year old son on th other hand is quite jealous of Bevo. Although he babies him too, he quite often throws out comments like....you love him more than me, huh... Or, if you had to choose between us, you'd pick him huh? Most of the time I know he's joking, but I often wonder! |
When I use to work I had more pics of my furbaby on my desk then my daughter. She use to tell everyone. |

Yes..and my "kids" are 45 and 42... When the younger one was about 7, she told a visiting friend to be careful and not hurt one of my mothers Yorkies...she will kill you. |
My grown son asked me the other day if when he was a baby I treated him as well as I do the fur babies now--- my DH also gets a little jealous:D |
My almost 14 y.o. daughter has jealous tendencies that I try to ward off. She gets mad that every time I walk into a store I have to go to the pet section,:rolleyes: I try to explain to her that I did the same when she was a baby. (not pet, but baby section:p). It's hard now, I can't just walk into the Juniors section, see something cute & throw it in the cart-it's not going to cost $5.00!! As for attention, I have drilled it into her head that it's our responsibility to lavish Princess with love & affection as both animal lovers & responsible pet owners! She does seem to understand that.:) |
Welcome to Michigan...I too live here :) And yes my 10 year old has always been the baby in our house but since Izzy has come she thinks she needs to remind my daily that Izzy is just a dog..lolol.. |
