Thanks everyone! Glad I'm not the only one. I was beginning to think I was a pretty irresponsible Momma! I spoke to my husband about putting a gate up at the front door (we have one on the back mud porch) and he said it wasn't very plausible due to the way the door sits. We have been working with Moshe and Rudy. Moshe is very young and eager to learn anything while Rudy is old and a rescue (Schnauzer mix). Mostly Rudy won't rush out the door...but...for what ever reason he did that day. What ever Rudy does Moshe does. Usually I can get them to both sit down as the door is open. We do have another dog named Bella but she is 10 years old (chi mix) and doesn't really care to much for going outside and also doesnt really get into accidents as she just lays around observing everything and "correcting" the other dogs if they do things she doesn't appreciate. We chose due to weather and family coming in (that wasn't suppose to come in) to push the sub floor back to next weekend. The weekend has been crazy with cooking and stuff but no more accidents for the dogs. The cat accidentally got locked in the sun room....for ....well many hours, but Hera is fine now. She probably didn't really mind as she is still kind of "above it all" and hates the dogs and most people. (She was also a rescue and I'm pretty sure was not treated well). I did think about getting the bread maker out and making some bread....but thought against it ;). |
There are many different kinds of standalone pet gates. These are a few examples, but if you're interested in looking around I'm sure you could find something that would work with your particular door. Freestanding Dog Gates / Stand-Alone Gate for Wide Areas -- Orvis |
That's quite the ordeal... lol I've gotten lucky with my pups, never seen a vet for anything other than rabies and other vaccines/boosters...actually I had a dog get hit by a car and had to be put down :( other than that nothing medically. I\'ve been taking care of my own dogs since I was 9... parents wouldn\'t do anything except buy the food, lol good thing too because I\'m not sure if they would have been willing to pay for broken limbs or special meds :/ Hopefully it\'s been smooth sailing for you since then... they say all bad things happen at once and it only gets better after that! :D |
