so sorry for your experience, & so in agreement with all the comments, makes me sooo crazy that someone who goes to church whatever their denomination can be so uncaring. unfortunately some people just are not animal lovers & just don't get it, their loss!!!! i would have said & done same as you & could care less if others laught @ me, dogs are more loyal than most people & i treat people & animals the same & as a real christian would. my mantra is & always will be treat others the way you would want to be treated & that certainly includes ALL animals. Bless you & just feel sorry for her because she just dosen't get it & probably never will so don't try to change her or let her make you feel like you are a crazy animal lover. you sound perfect !!!!!!:) |
Wow. That was really rude and I'm sorry you had to hear it. Some people just don't get it. Even so, she should have kept her mouth shut. Laughing loudly at someone is just plain RUDE, no matter what the circumstance. Just let that ignorance roll right off your back. |

Jersey Boy that poem is awesome. The life of an animal lover is not without its critisism but I don't care. I just tell people who say things like that "well I'm sorry you feel that way but to me it is more than just a dog". I feel sorry for people who don't have the love of an animal in thier lives. Good for you for loving your baby like you do  |

I am so very sorry for the pain that she caused you. I think of you and Tina a lot, and I am grateful that she has a mom so devoted and loving to her. I know most people didn't understand why we turned our lives upside down for Ashley, but fortunately I didn't experience such insensitivity. It’s difficult for some to understand a love so pure and unselfish that we receive from our babies, and we owe them the love and protection that they need in return. I didn't think I could love Ashley more than we had before, but with her dementia we had a little girl with such innocence and the biggest, most loving heart. That stage of her life was very difficult, but I wouldn't have traded a second of the precious time we spent trying to protect Ashley and trying to make sure that she was able to comprehend our love. I know how much you love Tina. She is not “just a dog”. She is your baby and your heart. I know some people can’t comprehend that, but they are losing out on something very wonderful in their lives. You and Tina will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. If you need some support, I am always available. |
Im sorry your feelings were hurt :( that was so insensitive on her part, I beleive i have lost a few freinds because of my furkids and my devotion to them, I never leave for more then 2-3 hrs tops, like i always say....some of my BEST friends have 4 paws :) when you have a sick baby its just like leaving a child, all i think about when im gone is how she is , so i really never enjoy myself and would rather be home. |
I really appreciate your kind words and the poem. Should give her a copy of it. Its hard not to associate with them because they are on the staff along with us and my husband is ministering in our pastor's absence. He had a stroke and will not be coming back. So, its hard not to associate with them, but, I have just made up my mind I will not mention my babies again. We were just leaving and I just made the comment that yes we did need to go. She made another comment one time when we with them. My husband thinks her husband doesn't want her to have a dog and that she may just be acting like that because of the way he feels. Don't know.... But, people never cease to amaze ya! She would really think we were bonkers if she knew how we treated and loved them. lol!!!!! Dementia is a very hard thing to deal with, but, we will until its her time to go. |

Just remember that for every one ignorant, mean spirited person that you meet and make comments like that, there are 100 that totally get you  I wish I had been there I would've given you a HUGE hug :) Take good care of your baby, you'll always be glad that you did ;) |
I am sorry that you had to hear that. A lot of people dont understand the love you can have for a four legged baby. Good luck! |
You know the old saying, "The more people I meet, the more I like my Yorkshire Terrier". :p |
I'm sorry you had to deal with such an insensitive comment from someone who should feel very differently. Unfortunately, many people feel that way and just don't understand how much we love our furbabies. After Lulu's luxating patella surgery I has someone (an acquantance, not really a friend) say that if she was theirs he would've "treated" her with a bullet. Really?:( He had just had knee surgery himself to repair an ACL and I said perhaps the doctors should have given you that same "treatment". What\'s the difference? |
