I bathe mine once a week, but I wouldn't recommend two times a week... I would think it would dry out their skin. Mine really start to stink after 6-7 days so I could not imagine bathing them any less. I guess it all depends on your lifestyle :)

This may be a dumb question lol, but what do you mean by "self rinse shampoo"? I've heard that mentioned before, but never used it. Is it a powder like waterless shampoo?
Its a liquid shampoo that does not need to be rinsed out with water. Just spray, rub, and dry. ProLine SELF RINSE PLUS Shampoo - Cherrybrook

You are absolutely right Nancy....every 7 to 10 days is normal. However, I begin bathing my pups at 8 weeks of age and it's every 7 days from there on out....that is until I've decided to keep one for show....then it's every 4 days, it's what most exhibitors do....the secret to growing a good coat is diet and keeping it clean. Never brush a dirty or dry coat.....

Chris Christensen also puts out a great self-rinse "Show Off" I prefer it, especially on my show dogs. If an accident happens before ring time, it leaves no residue or stiffness...coat is still silk to the touch.

yeah CC's Show Off is excellent too. They also have a product called Magic Foam which i like to use on the feet if they come in dirty from outside.

I use to use other types of Self Rinse...until one day at a show I found myself running on empty and one of my dogs had an accident....thank goodness I had plenty of time....ran to a vendor and they had "show off" (I'm a great fan of their combs and brushes and scissors), but not their other products...but, the vendor did a hard sell and I went with it...I loved it....and always keep it in my tac box.

Will that work well with a soft coat and my allergy problems?

I just came back from a grooming trade show and took a seminar with a fantastic handler sponsored by CC. She did talk about CC products but also told us if there were better products that she preferred out there. (got some great product tips!). I love CC products. I haven't found any of them yet that i didn't like. Picked up a few at the show as well as a new oblong fusion brush and brass/bristle brush.

Gatsby typically gets a bath every 5-7 days (so sometimes twice a week) when i switched to the bio-groom it did not dry out his coat or skin.Just make sure you have a good shampoo and rinse really really well (don't be afraid to dry them out from over rinsing ) Gatsby is two but I've been bathing him 5-7 days science he was 8 weeks old

Thank you! I didn't realize I needed conditioner too! I've only had her for less than a week and for her first bath I just used shampoo. There are so many things to learn:)

Sure will.

Most of the time I use the drier, instead of letting it air dry...but, letting it air dry works well too. I just brush later.

As a exhibitor, I prefer other products....CC just doesn't fare well on a silk coat. They contain silicone, truely a disaster when you're cultivating a coat....

I prefer Plush Puppy, Laser Lites....and other products....it all depends on the coat.

I love their scissors, Show-Off and of course their Waterless Hairspray....
Their Brushes and comes...well I can't say enough about them; expensive but worth every penny.

What food you give to you yorkie to grow a show coat??
