Smart and spunky Yorkies. :) LOVE that fun temperament! |
Biewer for me! I will have one some day...soon as I can talk hubby into another one;) |
I loooooooove my Biewer Reesie!!! I am biased obviously!!! ;). He has the spunkiest personality ever!!! But yes, very different from my Yorkie Snickers!! Reesie did pick up on things much quicker than Snick- potty training, figuring out toys, puppy kdg commands, routines etc BUT Reesie is my barker and he is crazy!!!! He is still a puppy, at only 5 months old so he will prob settle down but wow, he is my Lil SPAZ!! But I love him that way he is hilarious and has brought nothing but happiness to our lives and we love his differences compared to Snick!! :) Viv |

My vote is for Biewer. I think its mostly because I like the darker coloring in contrast with the light. I've seen some beautiful Parti's too. As far as personality, I think a terrier is a terrier. My two fall at opposing ends of the personality spectrum. |
1 Attachment(s) I am for the Parti yorkie because that is what they are, I believe that is what the Biewer is too and to say it is a separate breed when it came from 2 yorkies is Like saying you got a pug(another breed) from 2 yorkies. Color does not a separate breed make. Not all biewers have dark heads. Some are just as white as some partis. There is so much misinformation spread about the parti. It's truly a shame. The parti yorkies can have the dark heads and dark coloring too, it is a matter of selective breeding. My parti male is very dark. |
Parti Docked tail for tail injury prevention (long tails are beautiful too though) and have dew claws removed also for safety, and Partis are registered with AKC as Yorkies. |
Ok.. I'm a newbie...and my vote is for BOTH! They are such beautiful babies... I have been reading the previous threads on the "parti" etc. issue and the bottom line is we all have a love for dogs! I was very educated on the history of the breed... but I don't know about you but I wouldn't turn my nose to any color, fur, etc..... LOVE MY OLIVER! |
I love them both and hope one day to have a "painted baby", but I would prefer the full tail because I love how they carry them AKC or IBC ~ no preference since I won't show or breed.... |
I don't really see the difference between the two except for the tail. I don't find the tri color appealing at all because I just love the blue and gold yorkie with it's long silky coat..... Next to that, I will admit to finding the chocolate yorkie absolutely adorable...the little chocolate nose and paws and lips are just so cute. If I had one, I'd name her Puddin' :aimeeyork |
2 Attachment(s) Not all parti yorkies are light. Here is another example of a very dark AKC/DNA parti yorkie. |
Man, looking at pictures on different sites I'm really having a hard time seeing a difference. I think its ignorance on my part. I think they're all adorable. I really like the darker coats just gorgeous! |
Those of you with the mainly black partis....are you trying to breed the parti to be mainly dark, as opposed to being equally white? I am just curious because I have seen a couple of breeders now trying to breed a much darker parti. I know everyone has their preference (mine is to an equal amount of white and dark with a bit more lighter face)...I also love a dark saddle across a white back because I look at an all black body (and dark face) and see more of a carrier than a true parti. |
I have both and both are equally pretty. I am striving for the dark head/full mask. I am seeing way too many white headed dogs in both the biewer and the Parti. They should have color over both eyes and ears. Fen has more white than you can actually see because the black hair has grown long over the. white hair. |
2 Attachment(s) Thought I'd post pics of my Biewer: Attachment 341895 If you can't beat 'em Attachment 341894 Join 'em! (Notice one foot is in the bed!) |
Both of my boys are Parti mixes, but I wouldn't turn down a chance to own a Biewer, either!:p The only really telling feature in Neo being a parti is the tiny little white soul patch on his chin, and if you look closely you'll see the white and dark speckled patch of skin on his chest. Connor looked like your standard yorkie baby, but by the time he came to me at 11 weeks he started sprouting white/silver hair on the top of his head. At 5-6 months after his first groom his entire body had turned silver! Only his muzzle is tan, now, and he is just gorgeous! That being said- I resent anyone telling me that MY BOYS are NOT Yorkies! They may not be AKC or "ring quality", but they are most definately Yorkies! That is like telling an adopted person that they are not "really" family!:mad: You know who you are. |

Since owning both the lighter and darker parti yorkie...I myself prefer the darker parti. I know...the first thing many say when I say that is...then why don't you get a Biewer. Well, I do have a Biewer..and she has lost all her dark color. LOL Here are a few pics of my boy "Cabo" as a puppy. His white shows much better on a shorter coat. |

This dark parti is new to me so just curious. Do you guys think that these darker guys are more cottony because I know that Livi is very silky where she has her gold and then a bit modified with her black markings. |

1 Attachment(s) I dont mind if the body is white as long as the head is gold and black because most do lighten up as they get older. This little girl in my last litter to me was almost perfect, just a little less white on the head. |
