UGGh Has anyone ever had a problem with their significant other not wanting another dog?! lol im running into that problem! He thinks that huxtyn (our yorkie) doesnt want another dog. hux loves to be around other dogs he is so playful. i think a little brother would be perrrfect for him! What do yall think? sorry to vent! lol  |
Heck, I had a hard enough time talking my DH into getting one Yorkie! It took a lot of persistence, a bribe, and the help of some friends to finally talk him into it...... Now, he loves her so much he calls her his daughter! LOL! Good luck! |
well..... my poor dh has never had a say in the matter!! I just keep bringing dogs home! He gets so mad, I thought one time he was going to leave me over the dog:eek: But now he loves them all, right now I am here on yk and he is in the family room playing with the dogs!! so.. I am not the best example:rolleyes: |
I think timing is everything.... If I were you, I'd just let it go for now... maybe once you stop wanting one, he'll give in. Sometimes you have to make it "their idea". Good luck. |

LOL that is kinda how i got huxtyn! He was not to impressed at the time...but now he loves hux, he gives him kisses and everything, although he dont like to admit it! |
I have always worked it this way. It is easier to get forgiveness than permission. |
I keep saying Rosie needs a sister. And my hubby keeps saying no she don't. I like Lil Sis's idea, just bring it home. Hmmmmm. Lil Sis you are going to get me in trouble. ;) I just keep looking on Petfinder.com. I found one I really wanted but she was gone by the time I contacted them. So, I am still looking. |
Well, my dh thought my baby was ridiculous, but since we have a new baby, he has adopted him as his own! That is his baby! I'd say just get one.... Cuz you never know what will happen! Perhaps your significant other will bond to it just like mine did! Then you get to make fun of them! |
We have 5dogs,our sixth passed away and he was MY baby. My sweet man has told me to get another baby, because I have been so sad. He is the reason that I am on YT,still a mommy in waiting. But soon I hope to find my next littleone. So I'm probably not a good person to give advice on this, but you have my support. Babies should not be only children, even furbabies. |
Well looks like i am GETTING ANOTHER YORKIE! yayyy! |

Congrats!!! So, how did you convince him? |
YAY! Yes, please tell us the secret, my sig. other I often refer to as insig. other (LOL) wanted a skin kid not a furkid...so we're 9 months along right now and I'm looking at a Yorkie in the next couple years...he's trying to say we need another mini schnauzie instead! |

very true... but getting that forgiveness was tough!!! I think he has given up on me.. I heard of a friend who wants to rehome her yorkie (all I can see in my minds eye is that little baby being crated all day and night) and he didn't yell too much when I said I wanted it. We will see. The first dog was the most difficult .. I slept on the floor next to his crate for almost a month. I honestly didn't think he would notice the dog in the house- that is how much I knew about dogs then (he was a sweet YAPPIE pom) |

:eek: Oh no!!!! I hope your dh doesn't come after me:eek: Now we will have to go shopping for a LARGE kb bag lol |
Having animals was a prenuptial agreement for me. :D:D They are my baggage. The day my hubby says no, is the day HE goes! LOL. Well that may be exaggerating (a tiny bit) but you get the idea. |

Oh I know what you all mean. I've been wanting to adopt or rescue a Yorkie for months now! It was hard enough to convince my dh to get ONE as well. To top it all off, my mom lives with us and she has a 13 year old toy poodle. Well, she found another one marked exactly as the one she has now, and got him about 3 weeks ago. I am happy for her, but can't help but feel a bit blindsided since she knew I was actively pursuing adopting another Yorkie! Now my dh said he is FOR SURE moving out if we bring ANY more animals home! I know he's teasing, but I have to take his feelings into consideration, and that let's me know exactly where he stands....bummer :( To the OP, Hooray you're getting another Yorkie!!!! Congrats!!:D |
[QUOTE=Bellasmom30;3487744] Now my dh said he is FOR SURE moving out if we bring ANY more animals home! I'd say let me help you pack darling no problem :) LOL |
My Husband would never let me bring an animal in the home when he wasnt in agreeance. If I did he would expect me to take it back. He just wants more say in our household than that. A little sexual bartering goes a long way though lol. I was lucky the first yorkie was my idea and he agreed and then it was his idea to get the 2nd |

Much as I love him my dh would pitch a hissy if I asked for another dog right now. I have been working on him lately though cause I want a little calico kitten!!!! (Jodi, he's weakening big time!) Here are a few things I have considered when I have thought about getting another one. 1. Just walk in and put the puppy in his lap and let the puppy convince him to let him stay. (It worked for Gracie!) 2. Get the puppy and roll it around in dirt and mud. Then bring it home. "Look what I found wandering around on that busy old highway. I saved it's life, poor little thing." 3. "I had to rescue him/her! He/she was being carried around by the tail by a two-year old!" or "No one was adopting him/her from the shelter! Poor little thing - he/she was so sad and wanted a home sooooo badly!" 4. Keep showing him baby pictures of the yorkie(s) you have now. my dh's heart melts every time he sees Skeeter and Adie's. Heck just keep showing him pictures of any yorkie. (He's hooked - he just doesn't want more dogs in the house right now.) 5. All of our yorkie's behavior problems will go away if he/she had a brother or sister. Hey, I didn't say any of these were honest! Good luck! |

I love this thread :D Out of the 5 pets in our house, the only one my dh wanted was the Akita. He didn't want my beagle when we first moved in together but I said "hey I had her before you so deal with it lol". With the 2 cats I did what a few others said - ask for forgiveness instead of permission lol and now he told me the other day that our orange tabby his "his" cat, not mine lol. My Yorkie, it took me two days of begging and cajoling, but in the end he said "You're gonna do whatever you want to anyway so I'm not saying anything about it anymore" - that was permission enough for me ;) He does like Alice now, he even proudly waked into his mother's house yesterday carrying her and introduced her as "our new baby" :lol tears |
Reading all of the posts in this thread has brightened my day! Thank you!! We have 1 lrg mixed breed,2 toy poodles,1chihuahua,1pom. Hopefully soon we will have a new baby yorkie. Still looking and waiting. |
