My heart reacted before my brain kicked in & I rehomed a pup... 2 Attachment(s) Knowing my love of yorkies, a friend contacted me & said a friend of her friend was selling her yorkie cos she needed to get rid of her asap. I thought about getting another in the future once my 4 month old puppy is a little older and things are more settled at home (I'm remodeling parts of a little house I bought & am rushing to completely finishing the basement for when my kids are home from college this summer). Well, after being shown a cellphone pic and talked into "at least go & look at her"...off we went. Boo-bear (prolly needs a name change..lol) was a pathetic looking skinny little thing. 4lbs, scraggly hair, nails not clipped & way too long, and a bony little spine. The woman admitted she'd been kinda neglected of late due to the living situation & extreme marital problems. Then, the kicker...she mentioned during the conversation that she was selling her for $400, not spayed and has full akc registration!! I looked at this little girl & was so worried that someone was gonna get ahold of her & breed her that I decided there on the spot to take her. She is a sweet little thing, but has the most awkwardly floppy ears I've ever seen on a yorkie. I'm supposedly getting her vet records faxed to my vet tomorrow...I hope this is the case & that she has shot records. I'm still not sure if this is a permanent solution, I just knew I had to get her, feed her, get her nails trimmed & get her SPAYED before she went to anyone. My puppy, Zoe, isn't taking to Boo at all. Zoe is scared of her & runs & hides. I'm not sure if this will change. I, personally, have never had two dogs at once. This is the closest they ever got...chewing bullysticks while sitting on my daughter's lap. Boo is on the left, Zoe on the right. |
You are such a sweet person to save that little girl. If you are patient, you may find a few months down the road that the two become best of friends.:) |
Thanks for saving this little girl with TLC she will turn into a beautiful swan (yorkie) that you will be so proud of :) |
well I likely would have done the same good for you |
Over time they will probably become friends,it will just take time. I kinda like the name BooBear! She will be a sweet addition to your family. |
Little Boo-Bear is so lucky that you found her! Bless you for saving her!!! :) |
You did the right thing!!!! She will adjust and the two will be bff's before you know it. :) |
I've done the same things multiple times over the years (something I learned from my dad)...take the dog first, figure things out later... Neither one of us have ever had the heart to rehome the dog after that though, so both of our households have always been chock full of dogs. Some how, even after a rocky start, it always worked out and the dogs always got along. |

You did a good thing and two or three months from now, we will be seeing pictures of the two of them playing together. |

I've been googling how to introduce dogs to each other. They met on neutral territory, while both leashed, with my daughter with Boo and me with Zoe. But inside the home, unless I can keep them both with their teeth on a chew toy, they can't seem keep their teeth off each other. Any advice on how to help them get along will be greatly appreciated as I have no actual experience in this area. Thanks :) |

Are they fighting or playing? I think if you keep them in same room but seperated they will get used to each other. I would have done the same as you too. |
