I cannot get Bella out from under the bed!!! I am not sure what is going on with Bella today. She was in my bed this morning, we went out and went potty. Then came in.....and about an hour later I couldn't find her. She was under the bed in the guest bedroom. I tried to coax her out. (I was in complete PANIC thinking she had gotten out somehow.) She came out, and RAN at break neck speed to my bed upstairs and under it before I could even touch her. She has been under the bed for 3 hours. I have called, coaxed with treats, even rang the doorbell and knocked on the doors, and she WILL NOT come out. I even tried to use Jett to get her out, by playing with him right next to the bed. (Normally she wants to play too and will not leave us alone, but NOT today) I cannot move the bed, it is a king sized sleigh bed with a VERY heavy wood frame and headboard with a HUGE mattress!!!!!! I don't know what to do??? I am worried she is sick or something, but I can't even 'see' her. I am getting really scared something is wrong. Any ideas please?!?!?!?!?! |
Sometimes they will hide when they are injured or in pain. Could she have gotten hurt while out this morning? Even something small, like a thorn in her foot. I would be worried too. You've already done all the things I can think of to get her out. Hope you find the problem soon. Let us know. Good luck. |

This may sound gross but...our first yorkie Baby would hide like that if she had a ..um..."dingleberry" ;) stuck on the hair of her butt. That being said, Sophie likes to go under our bed to nap or chew her bone occasionally but she never stayed under more than maybe 45 minutes. Was she accidentally frightened? Sophie sometimes goes there when I run the vacuum. |
Sorry for the double post, had a computer problem. |
If you put your arm under the bed to reach her does she growl at you or is she just laying there? Sounds like she got scared by something or maybe isn't feeling good. I hope you get her out soon. My sons have the sleigh beds and they are very heavy. Hope Bella comes out and is OK! |
I'm thinking that if you have a noodle (those foam pool toys) or other soft, long object like that, you could try to sweep her over to you without hurting her. Or maybe encourage Jett to go under there with her? She may not like him encroaching on her space and leave. |
I agree with yorkie lover, Probably has some poo stuck on her and freaked her out. Mine do that, they either hide or they wont move. Stand like a stone until I go get them. |
This may be a stupid question but is she pregnant? It's late in the day and I hope all went well... |
Tibbe is a rescue and will have a sudden fear from Lord knows where, though it doesn't happen now except occasionally. He goes under the bed or behind the far bathroom toilet way in the corner. I coax him out(use high value treat/food) and we go outside and play to get his mind off his fear and he's fine. First of all you need to be sure she is not ill or injured, etc., and if she checks out fine, then it might just be a sudden fear from some sound she heard or who knows. Distraction works well for my little dog. I hope you find out what is going on with her as she undoubtedly is not happy this way. |
Could she have something she shouldn't. When my pom use to get something she wasn't suppose to have she would hide under the bed and not come out. I use to use a swiffer with the extended arm and gently chase her out. I hope Bella comes out and is not sick or injured. |
I hope you can persuade her to come out and that she is not hurt. |

Ok yorkies must be really silly creatures!!!!! She did in fact have a BIG dingleberry. I finally got her to one side of the bed, and reached under and grabbed her. Luckily she had a dress on, so I grabbed the dress, and pulled her to the edge. I felt kind of bad, because there is about 3-4 inches of room between the bed and the carpet I kind of had to lay her on her side, and mush her head into the carpet to get her out. But she really didn't protest at all!!! I got her cleaned up, it was NOT easy, was stuck on quite hard after that many hours. Now she is back to her old self. (I really can't believe they hide because of poo stuck on their butts. LOL) |
I THINK she was embarassed. Seriously!!!!!! She would not even LOOK at me, when I found the flashlight and was looking at her. She kind of hid her head under her legs and would peek out a little to see if I was still there. She would not even respond to her name at all. (I thought she had lost her sight and hearing.....LOL Thank goodness that wasn't it.!!) I got her out and she just tucked her head into my shoulder but wouldn't even pick her head up to look, me in the face. Once I got the poo off the butt hair, she was back to her old self. |
LOL got to love them. I am so glad it was just a hanging chad! ;) |
Love to hear a happy ending ! YUP Yorkies are very clean about their butts ! :clapsmile Noq you know AMEN to a happy puppy! |
Mystery solved and now can I just :lol tears |
I'm glad you got her out from under the bed and that it was just a poop problem!!:) |
OMG....this is hilarious!! :D I can't help it...but I'm cracking up. LOL. If Zhoie's get a hanger....she use to stand totally still, you had to go to her, now she run zoomies all over. She'll just let her fly now, LOL :D Such a silly goose ;) |
OMG this is the funniest/saddest thread I've ever seen. I can't believe she was so embarassed that she hid like that. Poor baby. I was thinking when I first started reading this that maybe something like a loud noise scared her. When Teddi was little I "lost" her for an hour and it was because I was vacuuming and she got so scared she hid by the side of the fridge in a ball with her eyes closed and wouldn't make a peep even when I called her. This was when I realized that she was scared to death of the vacuuming!! Now she goes up on my bed with the door closed when I vacuum. I'm so glad she is OK! |
That is great! Glad she is okay! I really thought it might be that! Sophia acts embarrassed too...she will take a step and then sit down. She just keeps sitting, that is how I know! |
Glad she is OK. When this happens to Chloe she just stands perfectly still by the pad and waits for me to help her. If I happen to be busy elsewhere, she will make the most horrible noise I have ever heard until I come racing to her to see what is the matter. They sure do keep us on our toes. |
i'm glad she's alright and i too, cannot stop laughing! when the first person suggested that was the problem i thought there was just no way. see...that's why i love YT, literally learn something new everyday! when princess has a straggler she usually gets this disgusted look on her face & freezes or rubs her butt across the carpet. i have to tell her "come here, mommy help you" and she'll usually back up in front of me. it makes you wonder what these prissy lil babies would do in the wild? they'd prob be extinct as they'd all be hiding eventually! lol. |
Your sweet little one felt that something on her , and it freaked her out... It is pretty funny, they can be so sensitive to anything out of the ordinary.. Glad you were able to get to her and clean her up. Silly girl.. ;) |
Alls well when the end is well :eyetearss When my guys have Klingon Aliens they run and then pop their potty butt down and scoot across the wood floor and squish those Klingon Aliens until they are an unwordly stinky mess! |
Very happy to hear it was a Klingon and not something more serious! :D Poor baby. My boys are so accustomed to me being up close and personal that they come to me to rid them of the little monsters. :p Always make clean up a happy experience and then celebrate wildly, and hopefully she won't want to hide. |
That is so funny! I keep laughing reading this thread. I can't believe they will actually hide because of some poop stuck on their butt! I wonder if they think something has latched onto them and is following them around...:D That dried up poop is so hard to get out! I have to take scissors to mine's butt to get it out. |

I was going to say the very same thing - if Darcy has a problem with 'poopie' stuck to his bum he runs straight past me and under my bed - I think because he knows its bathtime when this happens! |
