Pixie is the one who sleeps by him. He goes after Cali and Roxie but they know he can't hurt them. Latley, Roxie will go sleep in his bed when he's not in it and when he comes back he will lay next to her. When I am not home my DH says he hangs out with them in the hall. When I am home he is glued to me.

The vet called tonight with the test results from the outside lab. His BUN was a little lower than 2 months ago and his ceatinine was a little higher. Everything else looked good. She is going to give me a powder to put on his food. I was at the gym so I couldn't right it down, but it began with a P and it has to do with phosphorus levels. After a month she will check his level to make sure it is ok and go from there. I can't find the name of the powder so if anyone know could you please let me know.

No it began with a P I think I found it online last night but forgot it already! lol Nikki's not the only one getting old!

I sounds like you have been a very good mommy to Nikki. Imagine living to be 17. I will keep you and Nikki in my prayers.

Was it Epakatin? That is usually what you get from the vet for phosphorous levels. I would ask about aluminum hydroxide powder as this is a more effective solution in addition to diet etc. ♥

That might be it all i heard was placatin so that makes sense. I was at the gym and it was noisy when the vet called. So instead of Epakatin I should ask about aluminum htdroxide or would he go on both? Thanks for the information.

The Epakatin will not hurt, it is a natural supplement but has not been scientifically proven to lower phosphorous levels though we think it helped Giz in the beginning. The aluminum hydroxide is proven. I would not give both. Your vet may have suggested the Epakitin because that is what they are given. Most vets are not CRF specialists. We also gave Gizmo Azodyl; another supplement which did not harm but not sure if it helped either. Anything that can keep the phosphorous and anemia in check is what is needed. We did tons of research online and afterwards stuck with what seemed best for Gi. Do not give the Epakitin and Aluminum Hydroxide Powder gel at the same time. Also your vet may not have the AlumHydrox. We had to special order it from Home page - Thriving Pets .
