♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Is there a clingy stage? i have 2 yorkies, Tia nearly 3 and a Olly nearly 2. I don't remember Tia going through a clingy stage but Olly just lately has started crying or screaming the place down when I leave them to go to work. They are only left for 3 1/2 hours and when I get in hes panting like crazy and getting stressed out. They have the freedom of the dining room with plenty of toys and kongs to keep them occupied. They get along great together but its me he wants. Some nights he jumps into my bed from his own lol. Is it just the terrible twos?

| Mine are the exact opposite. Buster is 3 and Maggie is 2. Buster yelps and cries and raises the roof when I leave, except when I go to work. I don't know why he doesn't stress and cry when I go to work. Maggie does not care when I leave the house. She would like to go, but she knows she has to stay. Buster is very clingy, he pants and stresses when I leave him. I don't know if it's the terrible two's. If it is, it's gone into the terrible three's for me.

| It sounds like separation anxiety

| I have 2 boys and my Dexter CAN be the way with me. He worries me when he pants and cries so hard. I worry he'll hyperventilate. Try putting a radio on in the same room as your babies when you leave them. It seemed to help my boys a lot. I think Yorkie boys in general are a bit more mommy clingy than girls are so that is probably why he seems different than your female. Good Luck with him!

| My boy is definitely far more clingy than my girl. He doesn't get upset when I leave, but he is really riled up when I get home, and he yelps, jumps and whines and wants all of my attention. I try not to give him attention when he does this because I know it just encourages the behaviour... but he still does it! I will have to catch him on camera one time to show you how crazy he is

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Thanks for the advice, I like the radio idea , Ill try that tomorrow. You would have thought it would have been our little princessess that were more clingy than our little princes.

| oh yeah, the boys are totally Momma's boys.. thats why I adore my boys to pieces! My boys went through MAJOR separation anxiety. They dug holes in my sheet rock walls, they barked so bad that I got written up by my condo association twice. Finally someone told me to put on a radio in the room with them. This must have worked because they never got written up again, the digging and chewing stopped after this. I think it helps to calm them and drowns out noises made from things they can't see which must have made them nervous. Good Luck!!!

| Hmmm, I think Heidi (2 yrs) is ALWAYS in a clingy stage. Even at home if I'm out of her sight for over a couple of minutes she'll come looking for me. When we go visit my parents (she's use to us being there a lot) they say she paces at the door till I get back. When she gets in her kennel while I go to work (radio is on) she barks at me like she's really chewing me out. But I can watch her on the web cam and as soon as I leave she gets in bed and sleeps 2 or 3 hrs as calm as can be until about time for me to come home for lunch then she starts her pacing again. Even in her doggy car seat, she pants & is anxious. It helps to put my arm up by her, but she's still anxious. If for some reason I let her go with me without the seat she acts as calm as can be. But she thinks she has to stand with her leg on my shoulder, which I don't let happen too often because its so dangerous. I wish I knew how to help her be more calm. I've had her since she was 12 wks old, so I know nothing really bad has happened to her.

| Clingy My Charlie has moods of clinginess. When I come home from work he is clingy to me, but when he hears hubby come home he is out of there and barking for dad. when we watch TV he goes back and forth between the two of us, with hubby he lays on his chest in a reclyner and hangs his head off the back of the chair, with me he comes and lays down right beside me. Now when he wants to be left alone he goes to the far end of the couch where no one is sitting and if you try to move him he digs his feet in real deep like hes trying to hold on LOL The other day for the first ime I pulled up in the driveway and heard him barking from inside the house I have NEVER heard him do that before. When I was looking for a yorkie I knew I wanted a boy because they are more clingy that girls (so I read) in my personal experience it has been true, my girl yorkie was much more independant never wanted to be held really but both my boys just hung on me (kind of like my human son ROFL) I love my boys.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | All this info helps. I didn't really research about little boys ways as i was so intent in getting a girl and he came about by pure luck. He was a rehome so I didn't get him until he was a year old. His background wasn't good. The couple openly told me that he was shut up all day for up to 12 hours! He was very underweight and vet suspected abuse so he didn't have a good start in life. Tia I had from 12 weeks and is a confident little thing and loves every living thing even cats.Olly seems confident when Im home and its not uncommon for him to take himself off upstairs to bed around 9. hes not happy when I leave the house though and even shakes. Tia used to shake to a small degree which is why I got her a soul mate to begin with. Going to try the radio on today for them, Im only gone for 3 1/2 hours lol. Just hoping this is a stage hes going through as it only started a few weeks ago.

If the radio doesnt work try the animal planet station maybe the sound of animals would make him more at ease.

| They are so funny. When Tina was younger and I left, her little bottom lip quivered like how a baby's does when they are crying. Dh didn't believe me until he seen her do it. Kayla wants me to stay right at home as well as Dudley. Dudley would go and love it. Kayla hates the car, outside, you name it. She only wants to be inside with her mama and daddy. Never, ever, seen a dog like her. Hyperventalates when she is took to the vet for at least an hr. after she is home. I think the little boys are more loving too. She is loving too but only when its on her own terms. lol!! |
