LOL. Pigs can make good pets..so I hear. My sister's bf's mom owned a pot belly pig and it was litterbox trained and stuff. Hehe...

i remember seeing them on the animal shows and thought how cute they were!!!!
but i am glad i got a yorkie instead (hehe)

Like most animals, they are very cute as babies, but the micro pigs still grow to be about 50lb adults....hardly a purse pig

. . . hmmm, I've never had a pig, but it doesn't seem very soft and cuddly . . . like a Yorkie!!

Had one about 20 yrs ago. Very smart, exceptionally clean, etc. She hated walking on lineoleum floors though & wouldn't step into the kitchen at all. She was a cuddle bug. The problem was when I moved back to Ohio from SC, I couldn't find a landlord that would allow me to have a pig as a pet. So she went back to the breeder who had started taking her for therapy visits at a local boys orphanage. The last pics they sent me were of her with about 12 boys, & one of her lounging on a bed with a dress & sparkly shades on.

The bad parts about having pigs are....they are incredibly smart & will outsmart most owners...they have no sweat glands so will find ways to keep themselves cool, even if it's the proverbial rolling in the mud thing, but then they hate the dirty part afterwards, they have no sun protection, so cannot be in direct sun for long as they will burn. They have a natural dislike & fear of dogs, so combining the two in your household is difficult.

I loved my Myrtle (named for where I bought her), & hated leaving her behind when I had to move back home. I don't think I would buy another one now, but that's only because I have 4 dogs, & don't believe one would be happy here.

One of the first books I had purchased concerning the pot-bellied pigs summed up what the owner was in for by sharing this story....

First week of having the young boar, the owner had to keep correcting the pig from eating the catfood from the spare bedroom she had turned into a cat room. She would walk down the hallway, catch the pig in the cat food & yell for him. About 3 days had gone by when she realized that she hadn't had to yell at the pig for being in the cat bowls. So she walked down the hallway, noticed the door was "almost" totally closed. When she opened the door, there was the pig happily munching on the cat food. It was closing the door just enough so the owner couldn't see him in the bowls & got away with it for 3 days.....lol

I guess I should have known what a wealth of information I could get here! But who would have believed I could get the info. on PIGS!!! Thank you guys so much!!! You know, as her Mom, I'm just a "stupid mom" who doesn't know ANYTHING!!

But maybe, if she reads this thread , she will be a little more educated!!!!

P.S. She doesn't literally call me "stupid", but hopefully you all know what I mean!

Oh Cheri that is hysterical!! My daughter also asked for one of those pigs. hehe. We gave her a stern NO. Is she crazy?..A PIG!!! I know what you mean about us being "stupid". I ask my kids all the time if they think I was just dropped onto this planet or if I have lived 50 yrs worth of experience. It is amazing that I have been able to raise 4 children 21, 20, 16, and 12. And they are all living!!! haha and surviving!!! and not to mention my 4 precious babies. That's how stupid I am!! They slay me sometimes!!!
