I emailed the person and they emailed me back, being that it was on craigslist I am not sure if its real or not.. This is the add: Foster/furever home needed for a rescued yorkie!! I've seen that pup before! The rescue is legit. It's Jennxling. Here is her other thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ever-home.html |
Oh ok, cool. That makes me feel better. |

I'm not familiar with this particular group, but those are legitimate questions that rescues ask those who apply to foster/adopt. The big thing I see missing is her asking for your veterinary references. Most rescues insist on confirming that info on anyone who applies. |
Please provide the name, address & phone # of your veterinarian: Please provide the names & phone #s for 3 references: Are you talking about those questions? |

Does she know you are a fellow YT er? I hope it works out. |
She does now, i just emailed her :) |

She was recently complaining about another rescue and said she would rescue on her own. That is not a simple task. And, to top it off, she listed the pup in the sale forum??? Personally, I would never foster for an individual. Too many questions here imho. |

My problem in all of this is that this is an individual...not an established rescue. I would never give my information out to someone that I met on the internet like that. |
OMG this is the pup she is trying to sell on the Yorkies For Sale Forum. If she rescued this one, cannot help but wonder why put it in another foster home??? The next home for that poor darling I would hope would be her furever home. OMG...and seriously, listing it on Craig's List? :( This makes me so sad. |

Also, if you were fostering her and she needed medical care, how is that going to be handled??? I have never heard of Yorkies & Friends Rescue. I guess she just made the name up. While she is trying to help this girl, like LadyJane say's there are still too many unanswered questions since it's not a legit rescue group. |

I did not see that name.....but maybe she IS now with a rescue? She had said she was rescuing on her own. I would be very surprised that any rescue would allow their pups to be listed for sale on a forum...and for a placement through CL. But...anything is possible. |
OK...I just went back and re read her post....she said that she independently "rescued" this pup...and now does not want to keep her until she is adopted. :( Sadly, I have seen other independents do this. One unwritten rule in the rescue world is that you take a pup and keep them until their forever home is found. Looks to me as if she took the foster application from the website of Yorkies and Friends...not that this is THEIR pup. Be careful....unless you are willing to keep this pup indefinitely, I would be concerned. Also, is she going to allow you to play a part in choosing the home for this pup....I know I would want that if I fostered. AND...if the pup has a vet emergency, is she going to pay for it? You need to know such things. |

I looked and there is a rescue group called Home - Yorkies and Friends Rescue BUT when you go to that web site, it takes you to their Petfinder list. I don't see this Yorkie listed at all. I hope she isn't using this reputable rescue's name??? |
I dont think she has bad intentions. I know that she rescued her, and she is paying for her out of pocket. I think of it as she is trying to help, just bc you are not in a rescue group that is known doesnt mean you cant help dogs that are in need... |

What I will say is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. This same person bad mouthed a very well known, established rescue and somehow held herself above them as an "independent" and now she cannot fulfill her obligations for this pup. This is all very concerning to me. I just hope that if this pup has a veterinary emergency, you or her are ready to handle it. Established rescue is difficult enough...cannot imagine winging it on my own. |

Just letting you know of possible problems. You do as you please. I just hope the pup is ok and finds a wonderful home. |

I know she is trying to help, and we all told her way at the beginning to let a Rescue Group help her and she wouldn't have it, she wanted to do it herself. It's not easy at all to do it on your own as there is no help available. I still wish she would turn her over to Reputable Rescue Group, and just learn from this experience. |

I know I agree with of all you, all the point questions that I haven't asked I will make sure I do, I am so confused now, I don't know what I am going to do. I do agree if she "saved" this little girl then she should take all responsibility and keep her until she finds her the forever home, I agree that this doll baby should not be bounced back and forth. Thank you guys for the head up, I know that you all have good intentions. |

Which is something that puzzled me about why she was asking for an adoption fee for Hope of $350 on another YT thread...especially after telling me that she had already collected donations:confused: I guess Jen needs to post and explain herself. Jen are you a foster mom for Yorkies & Friends Rescue? If you are, why is Hope not listed on Yorkies & Friends Rescue site? If you are not a foster mom for Yorkies & Friends Rescue, why are you using their application form or similar? If you collected funds towards her spay & dental, are you shouldering the cost of these with those monies? Most of all, I would wonder...if you can't finish fostering Hope, why would you be wanting another Yorkie, Bella? Please Jen, do what's right for your dogs...do not add to your population till you are in a more stable situation. |
I didn't mean to cause all this..I was just curious to see if it was a scam, I found out from posting that she was a YT member. I hope nobody gets hurt or mad. :( |

Fostering (and especially Rescue) is something not to be entered into lightly. It takes a tremendous amount of commitment! And, although I commend Jen for taking Hope in in the first place, I fault her for not assessing the reality of whether she could feasibly foster from beginning to end as a busy student with two Yorkies already.;) If Jen is reading this...I hope "if" Hope is not already surrendered to a reputable rescue group, that you will do so now and let them secure a foster home for her to find that furever home that she deserves!:) |

I CAN be a foster, I don't know why I wouldn't be able to. Seems like that is what some of you are saying. |

Trying to Foster for an individual that has just taken in dog and now doesn't have the time is not the way to go. I know Jen is finding this out, she really needed help with this and should have turnd to rescue group, instead of doing it herself. |
