Tall and skinny Yorkie :)My Keno is 6 months old and weights 9 lbs. He is tall and skinny, anyone else have a Yorkie like this? He is square, he is as long as he is tall. |
Myself personaly have not seen that but lots on here breed and raise and know far more than me. But I wanted to at least respond, Until the others come on. Welcome to YT |
3 Attachment(s) My baby boy Max is 10 months old and weighs about 13.5 pounds. He is really tall, long and skinny. I believe that having the square shape in a Yorkie is desirable, however I'm also fairly certain that 13 pounds is not! But it is to me.:D Here are some photos of my lanky one. His legs go on forever. I also just remembered I created a thread when he was 13 weeks old. Wow, he was already long then! Attachment 341049Attachment 341050Attachment 341051 |
Whether a Yorkie is a small 4 lbs or a big 14 lbs, they are supposed to be square proportionally, with their height at the shoulders and hips equal to the distance between the shoulder and hips. I have two Yorkzillas (12 and 14 lbs) that are also "square." |
The AKC Breed Standard (for showing) is from 5 to 7 Pounds. But, that's where it ends !!! I've seen numbers for Yorkies ranging from a few ounces, to over 20 pounds, with DNA/Papers to prove PB's. But, when you get down to it, PB, Square, Papers, Blood Line.... it SO doesn't matter ! ;) :2hearts2: |
My Bailey Blue is like that. He has never ending legs! There are pics in my folder... :) |

My Lizzie is tall and long leg's and weighs 11 1/2 pounds. It doesn't bother me one bit at all. She has been this way for 14 yrs. |
We have a big boy too! Our big boy Bandit is 11 months and almost 16lbs. He looks so big compared to his sister Jinx but she is catching up too! At 18 weeks she is 6.79 lbs already. |
