Where else could I have gotten the support when I lost my Mia? This is where people understood how much pain I was in, and made me and my Sofia feel less alone. I've learned so much about these babies from people who love theirs as much as I do. |
I love being able to share stories, ask questions, get advice and to spend time chatting with people who are passionate about animals. It is so refreshing to see so many people gathered in one place who care about the health and welfare of their pets and others.....I am so tired of people saying "it's just a dog" .... to which I have found myself saying "you're just an a**" Yorkie Talk has taught me alot and I had my first yorkie about 8 years before I landed here. I have made alot less mistakes with Trixie because of the knowledge I have gained here. Love YT!! |
Well, I haven't seen that webpage, and if I run across it, I won't read it anyway. I'll make up my own mind if I like something or not ! That in a nutshell IS why I'm here on YT. Been on several other dog forums, and there's some truly nasty people out there, trust me !!! One of my areas of focus on a website, is how the Members treat each other. Ok, on training or other issues, there must be as many ways to do stuff like that, as there are Members on the Forum. But, just because we differ to some/a great extent, doesn't mean that we should slam/condemn the other. A respectful disagreement is to which I speak. I have a "theme" in mind in the way I train and what I expect from my animals, and if that differers from the "way you do it", that's just fine with me, but, it won't prevent me from offering a "try it this way and see if it works better for you". In fact, the way I do things, is frequently not SOP in another's opinion. Is this an Informational Website... Well yes, but it's a lot more than that, for many of us. Have a good Day ! :) S.W. |
Grooming foremost-I was clueless and so reliant on my groomer prior! Understanding and learning about Yorke specific medical issues, concerns and treatment care. Breeding everything and standards fo good breeders. Also understanding Yorkie specific breed traits. I have also had so much fun in seeing the various "projects" posted by people here...dog, beds, areas, innovative ideas etc...still planning the agility course in the back yard for the Spring, still searching for the right table to re-purpose into ta dog bed, building a better outdoor area (run) and still restoring the bicycle adn getting the dog basket-how cute are the dog helmets seriously!? |
I haven't seen the facebook page...don't need to. I love this website. I enjoy making friends, commenting on threads and designing my "page." It is a lot more fun to me than facebook. The facebook page has very little personality. Before I got my Copper, I found this website and found it a great source of information. It helped me prepare for Copper and stay excited while I waited for him to come home with me. :) |
This was/is my first forum experience and honestly it really has always been positive. I was a horse person when I arrived. I left the horse world due to family complications and decided I wanted a dog to live in my apartment at school. I knew everything you could imagine about horses after 12 years of training coaching and competing. I thought I knew dogs. I did not. This site has provided me with information to keep my little "cupcake" safe, information to make me laugh when I'm sad, stories that make me cry for my friends and a place I KNOW I can turn to if I need immediate help. This has been a place to share stories, information, and the love of the breed. I think it's really horrible when negativity appears on this forum. It should be a place where all feel comfortable and welcome. I know I always feel welcome here and try to extend that to all members I interact with. |
YT has helped me grow as a person and as a Yorkie Mom. I really love everything about YT :)! |
If it weren't for yorkietalk I wouldn't have my Wally!! He is my littlest baby and the light of my life. Yorkietalk has helped me with many questions that I have had. Everyone has been very nice to me here. I don't know what I would have done if yorkietalk wasn't here. No one understands like "yorkie people" do. Although I have seen some members be a bit harsh to others, for the most part everyone here is very knowledgeable and helpful. As with any public forum there are going to be "difficult" people, but their out there..what can you do? I try not to get involved with the drama some people like to stir. I admit, some people's approach is a bit harsh, but I believe they mean well. I remember one time my Coco was limping and my daughter said, "mommy go on that yorkie thing and ask about his foot". She was so cute. She has gotten attatched to some of the babies here because I tell her their story. Sometimes the outcome is sad but those little babies leave a tiny footprint in our heart. It's nice to talk with people who "get it" ya know??? |
I have learned so much here on YT. I've seen kindness, caring and compassion towards others needing advise or comfort. There are true pet lovers here and that what makes YT such a great place. I'm so very glad I found YT. |
In a sentence, some truly great people that help so much, that explain, mentor, and are available. In a word, Basil! Never would have got the little guy without finding YT. Made many great friends. No reason to visit a SUck site. That pretty much says it all...sucks. I feel sorry for the 3 bitter individuals that post there. If they only knew how truly stupid they look. But hey, that's their problem. |
I have been on YT for almost 4 years. Yes there are people here with strong opinions and while we may not always agree with what someone else has posted I think the one thing we can all agree with is we are all here for our dogs. I have been on other forums , YT has always been a constant for me. I tend not to post alot because I am one of those with very strong opinions and I would definitely hurt someones feelings or be banned for life if I posted on alot of these threads. That group on Fb in my Opinion is just comprised of people that got their feelings hurt because they didn't hear what they wanted to hear. My philosophy on that is if you don't want to know or hear what others think then don't ask. Simple as that. |
I've had a Yorkie for at least 25 yrs (not the same one of course!), but am constantly learning something new on this forum. I love all the great stories. And its wonderful to know that so many other people share a passion for these amazing, intelligent little pups. |
I wanted to give this thread a bump and also share this link again: https://www.facebook.com/pages/We-Lo...0321306?ref=ts |

Wonder why their knickers are in a twist? Must be awfully lonely and sad to find it necessary to make a facebook page devoted to hating a helpful website. Their main complaint is that YT rips apart "good business women". Last time I checked, raising 1lb "Posh puppies" does not in fact quality you as a business women. In fact to me it qualifies you as someone like Paris Hilton, a know nothing waste of space who uses animals as accessories. I don't mean to vent, but if you're going to stand up to a website like YT, know your facts before you waste your time creating a website full of your own self hate. Sounds like to me that the creator of that website feels the need to point the finger. Guess it's at us, loyal YT members who have healthy puppies and personal experiences that we love to share. And that's my venting Thank you all! |
