51 dogs rescued from hoarder
 
I just saw on the news tonight that they just rescued 51 small dogs from a hoarder near Baltimore. It turns out they are yorkies and poodles. They said that they have 12 yorkies, Bless there little hearts. The rest are poodles and mix poodle and yorkie. I can not believe this. I will be at the Animal control at 930 am to try to get at least one of these babies. Some of them are tiny little ones. 3 are expecting puppies and the SPCA has those until they are old enough to go to new homes. They are charging $56.00 for females and I think the boys are $51.00. They are to be fixed before they can go to there new homes. I hope they all get the best homes. Bless there little hearts. Not sure how to post links but the story was on Baltimore Marylands channel 13 which is WJZ it happened in Pasadena Maryland. They are in Anne Arundel Co. Animal Control.

This is horrible. Why do people hoard animals, its so terrible. Thank you for saving one of those babies.

awww I'm glad they have been discovered!! I wish I was closer! I would go take them in a heartbeat! I hope they find furever loving homes! Please keep us updated! :D

I read the article. The man said it was "breeding that got out of hand"! Yeah REALLY out of hand.
I just hope those pups find new forever homes. But I will not be getting one. I hope it goes well for you though, and you find some nice pups.

The news anchor said the dogs were in really good shape, so hopefully that will make it easier for them to get adopted.

Oh don't tell me! So sad! I'll end up a hoarder myself!
No seriously I don't understand hoarders...how do you even know all their names and not realize you are denying them the one on one attention they need...let alone I have a hard enough time working on training with 3! Okay 2 are special needs they count as two each so 5 is a serious limit for me LOL.

I got up at 6am this morning to go about 45 minutes away to look into adopting a new baby. I made a mistake and layed back down for a few minutes, I Woke up at a little before 10 am. I called Animal Control to see if they had a big turn out and they told me they had a line around the building. They said they would all be spoken for in about 30 minutes. I decided I would look into adopting one of the puppies once they are ready for there new home. Just wanted to update everyone.

Wow poor babies but at least they were found. I wonder what goes on in animal hoarders head. :( I wish I was closer.

Hoarding happens slowly, a pet here and there, and finally too many to care for properly. Sometimes I even worry about people here who yearly add to the pets. Are they going to have the money to properly care for the dogs as they age?

Let alone the minimums of care: cost of feeding 51 dogs a proper diet, flea meds, heat worm meds, supplements all for 51 dogs, the effort in cleaning up after them, basic training, and quality and adequate time spent per dog...ye then can you imagine the personal expenses just in commonly spread disses-even just eye or ear infections and the antibiotics, vaccinations, and yearly health checks...I've never walked out of the vet's office without spend about $100 on one dog at a time...

Exactly, I think all dogs should go in for a well baby check-up once a year, checking teeth, heart worm tests, and any necessary shots, and you're right $100.00 is minimum and that's if everything check out okay. I think Joey's last check up was $230.00, but if you have multiple dogs, it can really add up, and people decide to forgo those yearly checkups, which leads to more serious problems, and even more expense to treat.

UPDATE:
I wanted to let everyone know that all 51 dogs were adopted. The people lined up staring at 6am. they had well over 200 people turn out to adopt. I called them at 11am to see if they still had any left to adopt, they were all adopted. Thank goodness. Now I just hope and pray they are all good homes.

I am sorry you didn't get one, I hope that once of the puppies finds her/himself in your loving home but I am thrilled for the doggies since they all got adopted out. Great news for a tragic situation.

Aw I'm sorry you didn't get one. I hope you get a puppy. Keep me updated with that.

The news my grandpa watches every night had the story on there and they also said the puppies of the three pregnant dogs will be going at 8 weeks.

Thank you so much for adding this link. I was looking at the article and noticed how some of the people that made comments on the bottom of this article, Were making this guy that had all of these 51 dogs into some wonderful person. I have heard how wonderful he is because the dogs were all taken care of. So I had enough, I had to do it. I put my thoughts on the comment section, Well a jerk happened to write in on my comment. I thought I was ticked to see this on the news for the last few days and in the paper these last two days. How this Gentleman, Poor Guy, I feel sorry for him, ect. Was the good guy not the bad guy. What. Well this Jerk MICHAEL is his name had to write in and question me. Well, he made a mistake. Yep, I had to give him a little piece of my mind. So anyone that gets a chance , Do me a favor, please go to the link and read what I posted and what he posted andd if you want to give your opinon to this Jerk. Thank you so much

Lol, I love your reply to Michael!!!! Oh I certainly hope he doesn't find Yorkietalk, he reminds me of some of the trolls we've had. You argued point by point and blew him out of the water! Maybe you want to go to law school in your spare time?

Glad to see all the pups got a new home. I wonder about people sometimes...I know their intentions are good, but reality and common sense must be used. I have four dogs, and that is enough for us. We have the means to take care of them, the love to shower them with, and the heart o make sure they have one helluva fantastic life in our arms.

I wonder how so many people with multiple dogs can provide them all with individual attention...fine if you can afford 51 dogs, their basic needs, and medical attention go you, but how does one person do that much grooming let alone one on one love to them and training...maybe they are super motivated far more than I can comprehend. Large kennels and even small breeders often talk about their 'support people'...the effort it takes and their devotion in time, effort, money and still needing extra hands...hoarders not so much.

We have three dogs here currently and four people so we all do our part and it works we are in serious consideration of a fourth at a later date, but not until we can honestly provide another dog with not only their needs but the attention and care they are deserving of.

LOL, Thanks for reading it. I had to vent. Man, he made me hot. I only used my first name. The email address is private. Thank god. He is a nut case. He sounded guilty to me. Clueless! I have found that ever since I found yorky talk and have learned some of the things I never knew, I have a very hard time keeping my mouth shut. I was at the dog park one time and because I have more then 1 or 2 dogs people ask me if I am a breeder and I am so fast with a come back No I rescue I do not breed. I use to think that anyone with two dogs was a breeder, lol, was I ignorant! Seriously, these people were making him sound like some type of hero, and your message is an important one. Thank goodness, they all found homes, and they will be spayed and neutered first. I sometimes worry when a dog is sold this cheap though, I wonder if they will receive the care they need in the future. So far Michael hasn't responded. :D

Darn, I was hoping when I got back on here he might of responded back. I am just sick thinking about how many of these poor babies are going to be advertised in the local papers and on Craigs List. Some people see the word yorkie for sale and they see dollar signs. I Know it is going to happen. That is why I wanted to get at least one so I can screen the heck out of the new family, like I do when I rescue a yorkie. After I have full medicals,dental, and shots and groomed I charge the new family only what I paid not one penny more. Sometimes I have gone through 20 families. People may get upset with me but I want these babies to live there life living like yorkies are suppose to. I hope this guy, Michael will get back on and read my comment back to him because I am ready for him. LOL Like my husband said, he does'nt know what he is getting into when it comes to Brenda and her yorkies, LoL He said I need to be a advocate for the yorkies LOL I will be watching the papers and craigs list. Trust me.
