One more try... Hi everyone. I posted a few weeks back but my thread was locked. That's never happened before so I was a little hurt; especially since I don't know why, but I thought I would give it another try . This weekend we are going to visit a breeder in Pennsylvania. I'm pretty excited because I didn't expect it to happen this quickly. IF anything happens. I'm putting it in God's hands-- from the surface they seem like a nice family (they do rescues). I promise I won't post often, I'll just continue to lurk. I am happy to be here. |
I know your heart is in the rite place but remember if you don't buy from these kinds of breeders they will eventually have to stop their nasty breeding programs & the breeding dogs will be retired & no more pups will have to suffer. |
Hello! Good luck in your search for a yorkie puppy. :) My last yorkie passed away over 3 years ago, and I just got my new yorkie puppy 8 weeks ago....I don't know why I waited so long. Getting a new puppy is such an exciting time. Inform yourself and search carefully. Yorkies are a long term commitment. |
Hello and welcome to YT. Good luck with checking out your breeder. I hope everything checks out about them. If you have been lurking than you have read about the red flags so remember them and the important questions to ask while visiting with the breeder. I am glad you are ready for another furbaby. I did not do my research with Buster and rode an emotional and financial roller coaster for my first year. Buster is worth every cent or should I say in his case 700,000 cents the first year in vet bills. Be excited, do your due diligence, and enjoy your new Yorkie when you find the right one. Best Wishes. |

just wondered what leads you to believe that she is buying from "these type of breeders"?? There is only one other post from her and nothing in that thread leaves me to believe that it is not a good breeder... hmmmm.. I am with the OP... cannot figure out why it was locked. Anyway... to the OP: welcome to YT. I hope you find the furbaby of your dreams. |
Hi, welcome to Yorkietalk, I looked at your last thread and I have no idea why it was locked, you were the only one that posted, did you ask for it to be closed? I'll ask Wylie's Mom to check it for you. Pennsylvania has lots of puppy mills, and you are wise doing a home inspection, I would make sure it's a legitimate rescue though, many breeders are masquerading as rescues because they can get more money for their dogs this way, so be cautious that you are not supporting a poor breeder. Really, finding a good breeder who is breeding for the right reasons is a difficult thing, but you will have this puppy in your life for a long time, so it's well worth the wait. |
I agree with Nancy... Don't know why your other thread was locked. We would love to see you post more! Don't let that one locked thread slow you down :p Let us know what happens when you visit the puppies... Make sure to go with your heart. You will know if they are good breeders. How old will the puppy be? |
Welcome and good luck with your search for the perfect furry new family member! |
good luck on the trip. ask tons of questions and be really really skeptical...MAKE them prove why they are worthy of your money and why their puppy will be the best and healthiest puppy you could buy. get genetic and health testing and guarantees from them. make sure they breed to standard... good luck and happy puppy finding. |
Pennsylvania is known as "The Puppymill Capital of the East". Please check the USDA "puppymill" list to make sure this breeder isn't on it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ills-here.html |

Thank you everyone. You have made me feel much better! I AM skeptical about this breeder/rescue. My choir-mate got her Yorkie from this family a few years ago and when I went to prayer meeting I mentioned I was on the lookout. She came up to me and offered to drive with me out there. It's only a 4.5 hour drive, so no big deal if it doesn't pan out for me. I will absolutely check the list; I didn't know it existed and I certainly didn't know PA was the puppymill capital. Nervous now... I better type up a list of questions to ask now. |

Just so you know how this probably happened: your first posts/threads on the board will usually go into the 'moderation queue' (this is just to avoid spammers). When one of us goes into the queue to moderate the posts and threads, we can select/check-box various things like - 'approve post', 'move thread', 'delete as spam', 'lock thread' - etc etc. I must have accidentally selected 'lock thread' by mistake. There was no reason for your thread to have been closed, other than my mistake. WELCOME to YT, and I'm glad you posted a second thread :D! Do you want me to open the 1st thread, remove it, or just leave it? |

Congradultions in finding a breeder. Just do some checking , and make sure the breeder is reputable. Check to see if the breeder has a health gaurentee on her pups, and they are not prone to any genetic defects , Hopefully both the parents will be on site so you can see them too. It will help you knowwhat your baby will look like when older and possibly how big the pup will be full grown. Check to see if the pups are at least 12 weeks old. Reputable breeders always wait until the babies are 12 weeks. Remember that their is no such thing as a tea cup yorkie , or mirco mini yorkie's . Those would be a couple red flags . Best of luck in your search for your perfect little yorkie puppy:) Welcome to YT as well. |
welcome to YT and please post more! we especially love to see pictures of pups!!! it is amazing to see that you are researching first. the only way that bad breeders stay in business is by people buying their puppies. :( Quote:

Hi yorkiemomsoon Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I'm so glad you have come here to do a bit of research before getting your pup, you can avoid some potential problems that way. Your first post was such a delightful introduction (accidentally locked), I hope Moderator Ann will re-open it so you will get the warm welcomes that you so deserve. Good luck with your puppy search. |
Welcome to Yorkietalk!! I hope all will go well for you with the puppy breeder and puppy choice. Look forward to seeing pictures!:) |
welcome welcome welcome welcome!! Just like everyone, no clue why your post got locked!! but I hope you find your perfect baby! & remember don't try to rush it! make sure you find a great breeder who is passionate and loves her dogs. and don't just get one because u want one right now! be patient and wait for the one you truly want! I had to wait a while after finding my breeder to get the puppy I wanted and I didn't care about the cost. |
Glad you tried again. Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |

I'm so glad you came back and gave us another chance. Ann is the best moderator there is so please try to forgive her very first mistake. ;) Please, please do post often!! You sound like you're going to be a great yorkie parent - you're asking good questions and you're really listening to the answers. I think you're going to have a lot to contribute to YT! :) My one peice of advice for you is to listen to your instincts. If you're already uncomfortable with this breeder there's probably a reason why. Try doing a little more searching for a reputable breeder in your area before choosing your new yorkie. I promise you the wait will be worth it for a perfect healthy little pup. Hugs, Bonny |
Welcome to YT :wavey: I hope you will post often and post of photo when you find your little one. Best of luck in your search! :) |
