I finally found the perfect breeder to buy from!!
 
Thanks to all of my reseach and help from u loyal YT members I have finally found a GOOD and HONEST breeder in the South FL area her name is Lois Maggio(her website http://loispreciousyorkiesfl.com/Home.php) I found her on AKC.org(http://www.akc.org/classified/search/index.cfm) she is really sweet and I can hear the love a passion in her voice while we were own the phone talking about her furbabies what made her stand out to me was out of all the website I been on she was the only one who mention on her website that I raise Standard Yorkies not Teacups.And that was a big deal for me since most YT members say run from a breeder that mention teacup. Also I think it really cute that she give u a baby book of your new baby from when its born to its first bath...etc now thats dedication I'm so happy right now that I went from almost buying at a pet store to finding a honest breeder that care and love her babies once again THANK YOU SO MUCH YT!!! U GUYS ROCK

I don't see any information regarding the parents of the puppies. Yes, there is a picture of several yorkies sitting together so you are lead to assume those are the dogs she uses to breed but there is no information about them listed anywhere. PBC is this:
Breeder Permits

She lives in Boca Raton~have you need there to visit with the parents as well as the breeder?

I will be visiting her when i get back to fort lauderdale Boca is only 30 to 40 mintues from were i stay and when i spoke to her she said when i come to the house i would be able to meet the parents of the pup

These posts are about an hour apart and so I am confused. Here you state that due to expenses associated with puppy ownership you are going to wait to get a puppy:

u right i did post that blog because i didnt understand y a dog would cost so much thats b4 i did any research now that i have done the research i understand y they cost so much and she want 1300 and its call having a boyfriend who is going to give me the rest of what i need because i spoke to him about the situation and he can tell this something i really want lets just say im lucky to have someone in my life that like to keep me happy but what i dont understand is what r u trying to prove by calling me out on what i post

AKC.org offers classifieds. However, AKC does not monitor. All one has to do is pay the $35.00 fee to advertise.

Maybe just another thing you have to have a permit to do these days, and just means you have to pay the city/county to be able to breed? That's all I got out of it. Kind of like me having to have a permit to put new windows in my house. :rolleyes:

Then again, I'm not well-versed in these things. :p

I wondered about that since when I started looking for breeders I checked the AKC ads. I never saw one ad from a breeder that I recognized and that spoke volumes to me.

Now the one thing is that there are questions that are asked, such as testing, bill of sales, guarantees, and membership to all breed clubs and breed clubs.....So, one can make their determination whether on not to respond to an add.

i posted on your other thread. basically just please ask a lot of questions and check out the health and gentic testings done on the parents of the dog you are buying. if no health or genetic screenings or tests were done i would prob. just walk away if it were me. AKC is a great place to make sure a dog is registered to, but it doesn't guarantee a great breeder. the YTCA is a better place to find a good breeder who is usually breeding to standard in both looks and genetics and HEALTH which is most important to me.

good luck on the visit and i hope you get answers to all your questions that i know you will be asking. GOOD JOB! on all that research. it will pay off in the end.

Sounds like you are on the right track! I don't know anything about the breeder you mentioned, so I can't give any recommendation there. I will say that you can't just go off of what you see on a website, or what they tell you over the phone. Good place to start, but you will want to find out so much more. The next steps are really important.

It was really important for me to talk to the breeder in person, at their residence. Then you can see the sire and dam and the living conditions for the dogs. Take a list of questions to ask when you visit. When you are there you don't want to get too distracted with the puppies to actually get the info you need. Ask about the breeding lines the dam and sire come from, ask about testing...so much more, I'm sure there is a sticky somewhere with all the info.

When does she let the puppies go home? This right here will tell you a lot about the breeder, IMO. The best breeders want the pup to be 12 weeks or older.

You've been given a lot of good advice. I commend you so much for listening to it. Don't stop now! :) You buy the breeder first...and the puppy second.

Please plan for other expenses.. such as vet visits, flea preventive and more. The biggest cost of the puppy is not the price you pay. The biggest concern is emergency health care. Pet insurance may be what you need.

-purchase price
-first wellness check
-shots, including the rabies vaccine
-spay/neuter
-microchipping
-grooming
-1 year wellness check
-pulling of puppy teeth

Sorry, didn't finish my thought in my last post, but I think you get he idea. This year, aside from piddle pads, food, and new toys; Kaji will be getting his yearly wellness exam when he turns 3, and a dental. That does not include emergency situations. It's still adds up though!

Good that you mentioned this as a big factor. The cost of the puppy is the cheapest part of the deal! We spent nearly $4000 in the first 6 months on veterinary care, most of which was emergency and unexpected.

I think that is what a lot of us are trying to stress when people are looking to purchase Yorkies for a low cost. The purchase price is just the tip of the iceberg and all the costs change drastically if you purchase a sick puppy or the potential of a sick puppy due to a bad breeder.

She wasn't "calling you out" on anything. She was looking for clarification on things YOU posted. You have to admit, it is a little strange to read about having issues with money and then it disappearing an hour later. If you post something on a public forum, it is up for comment/question.

Now, as others have said, the AKC website doesn't mean your research is done for you. You have to continue with the diligent questioning and warning signs and continue to research this person. They may be a good breeder and they may not.

I agree with what everyone else was mentioning price wise. The price is NOT the biggest cost of the puppy. We've spent a lot of money on Rylie with just vetting, excluding all the other costs (such as food, toys, etc.). Her price and pick up costs weren't a huge deal in comparison.

I sound like the voice of doom..but in south Florida you will not find a vet to do dental under $400..and that is cheap..average runs $600 where OP is....
