| ![]() I saw his mom and dad papers so technically he is purebred. But he is already 4lbs (well close too). I was reading up and everything keeps saying that 7lbs is the ideal weight for a purebred. Are there any owners out there that own larger dogs???/ |

| ![]() Yes there are many owners here that have larger than average yorkies. Does not mean they are not pure bred, just a little bit bigger than standard. ![]()

| ![]() That standard reads not to exceed 7 pounds.....It's there for exhibitors and breeders as a guideline for showing and breeding the ideal yorkie. However, there are smaller and larger yorkies....just like in humans. from your first post your guy should bee hitting on 8 weeks....sounds like you're gonna have a big boy....just love him and pray that he's gonna healthy......

| ![]() Oliver is 8.5 pounds of love and joy!!! I do get many comments though on how "big" he is.... from what I've learned ... they just don't really know the breed.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() Ymommie, YES, actually there are quite a few of us who have Yorkezillas ! ![]() MY Male Sneakers is at 12.5 lbs, 2.5 years old, and is PB. Actually, from what I've seen, Yorkshire is one of the most varied Breeds on weight. I've seen quotes from just a few Ounces, to over 20 pounds. As stated, the "Breed Standard" is from 5 to 7 pounds, but, that's a "regulation" (I think) by the AKC. A criteria you must meet, IF you wanted to Show your pup in one of their events. Beyond that, weight seems to have nothing to do with demeanor. I've seen complaints and praises on the full range of weight, and both sex's included. Attitude seems to not be an issue, which we customarily relate to a Male. ![]() my Female Becca doesn't take a second place, in this house anyway. ![]() So, all in all, you'll see a general sense of "more to love". Have a good Day ! ![]() S.W.

| ![]() My first yorkie (RIP/Canine Epilepsy) was purchased through a mill-scam - and being un-educated, I purchased him at a meer 8 weeks as well - and he was already 6.8 pounds. When he finally became a danger to not just himself but all around him (about a year old) he was nearing 25 pounds - AND he was sold under the guise of being a TEACUP ![]() My husband and I found a breeder 2 years later (when we were finally ready) and now Rock Star (also known as "Mr. Star", lol) was 2.6 lbs at 15 weeks; when we took him home. He is now going on 7 months and staying strong at 3.4 lbs. It just depends I guess ::shrugs:: - the breeder owned the sire and both 'bitches' - the sire was 1.8 lbs at 5 years old and with hair to the ground ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() It is nice to know that I am not the only one with a larger Yorkie. He wentto the vet today and he weighs 3.6 pounds @ 7 weeks and is completely healthy. @Yorkieusa OMG that link was too adorable I think Major is seriously going to be a "TEAPOT" Yorkie @Lovetodream88: Does your baby have the floppy ears |
