my new addition to the family 2 Attachment(s) This little guy was dumped in the streets of Vegas (a growing problem here). People had posted up that they found him but no owner claimed him. A lady offered to foster him until a forever home would take him. I got him today & am taking him to the vet tomorrow. I'm hoping all is well with him. He is an old man & is a little scared & thin. He's pretty cute! I haven't come up with a name yet other then little guy. So far with me, he has no interest in the food she had been giving him. I hope I can get him to eat. :aimeeyork |
Awwww, Poor little old man. Bless you for giving this little guy a home. |
He looks like a little Australian Terrier in that picture. Sweet, red little fox face! Awww, I am sooooooooooo glad he found his way to you. Give him a big hug from Tibbe and me and let us know how he is doing, with pictures, if possible. |
Glad you are able to give this little man a good home. He looks sweet as can be! He does have a red fox face. :) Maybe Foxy is a good name? Is that too girly? Maybe Jamie for Jamie Fox? Or Redd for Redd Foxx? I guess you have to watch his personality to really pick a name that fits though. |
Names are just part of the fun of any new dog, aren't they? Watching their personality and pairing that with their physical appearance and trying to figure out just who this little dog in front of you is going to be. And boy don't they love it when they do get a name. It's like they know, "Yep, that's me!". Can't wait to see this little boy's new name to go with his new life. |
Congrats...make sure the vet scans him for a microchip...I don't mean to be a bummer but he could be someone's lost or stolen baby...and in the least you would find out and be able to have his registered to you! Hope it all works out...he might not eat the first couple days until he's hungry enough or feels safe enough... |
The poor little guy being dumped like that. :( I hope he will pass his checkup without any problems. You are so kind to take him in. I hope you find a food that he will love. Good luck with your new pup. :) |
How adorable! You have a wonderful and very big heart for taking in a senior. I'd feel inclined to give him a distinguished gentleman kind of name like Charles, Richard, William or something, unless of course he is a little goofball. |
Congrats on your new baby boy, i always wonder how people can sleep at nite after having a wee pet then just throwing it out, thanks to you this boy has a second chance in life x |
Yeah, he is a sweetie, very quite & afraid. The girls just want to kiss him :) He's tolerant of them, which is good! lol I have back tracked all the lost dog ads on craigslist & the local newspaper, nothing. Other then a health check, the 1st thing to do is have the vet scan for a chip to double check. If he doesn't have one, I'll want to get one for him. I'm curious on how old the vet thinks he is also. I gave him some moist Stella & Chewy this morning for breakfast ~ it's was a hit with him & he did his first poopie here. Looked alright, Yah!! I'm taking that to the vet also. |

The vet scanned him & he has a Home again chip. She called & checked - he had not been reported lost/missing. She also got the contact number for the owner & the number is disconnected. My vet said this has become the normal thing here. So he now belongs to us. I will register him now that he is named. She looked him over & her main concern at this time is his teeth. He will be loosing some of them. They are pretty bad. That is why he's having trouble eating. He will go on Saturday for the cleaning. The dental special they have is with the cleaning they do a complete blood panel for a GREAT price. Pebble's had hers done last month. He got all his shots & I'll know the fecal test results tomorrow, vet wasn't to worried about this. She estimated him to be 8 years old, so his birthday is 3/8/2003. So :bigbdaypa to Aussie ~ sweet boy!! |
I was pretty sure from what you said about the bad times there and resultant loose dogs that all the vets there routinely scan dogs brought in as possible recovered strays. Well, sounds like he is stray no more and little Birthday Boy Aussie has wound up in the catbird's seat with you! He'll get those bad old teeth out and get all caught up on current tests, treatments etc., and be ready to start his new life in earnest. As you have Yorkies, you are used to being routinely "terrierized" so adding an Aussie Terrier should just add to the all around fun. Enjoy this special little guy and let us know all of his cute stories! |
That's great he is safe with you. Nikki who I took in after his owner/rescuer had a stroke was so thin and didn't want to eat. He is estimated to be 17 and he had to have all his teeth pulled. Once he was in with my 3 chow hounds he eats like crazy. He has filled out. So maybe after his teeth are taken care of he will love to eat. He is a handsome guy and I love the name Aussie. |
I'm so glad that Aussie found you and has a nice family to belong to. Shame on the people who dumped him. Give him a big hug from me and Sammy! |
That's very kind of you to take him in and give him the care he needs. |
