A friend has a extremely tiny yorkie & My friend, who has a ver tiny fully grown yorkie. She has been letting family members take care of her because she works. She has not even seen her yorkie in weeks. I met up with her , because she is a caregiver to an elderly couple in my complex. I was able to see her little itty baby. It was shocking:( This yorkie is pretty energetic , and everything, however, IS STARVING to death. It was grossly thin, I could feel all her bones up her spind and fell all of her ribs , their is just nothing left to her. Nancy, my friend did say something is wrong with her.... I first thought of worms, but she has been wormed, and has had 2 series of vaccines. Nancy my friend was allowing two teeager girls be responsible for her baby, and told me they they just leave her crated all the time, and she just get filthy with urin and poo. When we got to her families house we ended up waiting because one of the girls were bathing her. Probably because she was very smelly. and the girls did not want Nancy to see her that way. The poor little one , and I mean extrmemly small yorkie had her hair grown out, but they kept tying her hair into a pony tail. The pony tail was out, and the yorkie was matted there on top of her head. Nancy gave her a dentatix and she had eaten it like crazy. I gave Nancy a super high organic canned food , 95% protien from wellness , I only had one can, then I gave her what I had left the rest of my bag of Wellness super 5 mix. Nancy told me to give her some, and she ate like crazy, They were not giving her enogh to eat at all. I am feeling so sad about this yorkie. No dog ought to ever be in this kind of shape ever. Her wee one has a lot of energy too, despite being soo dang hungry. I let her know that I could watch her when she works , and stuff. Nancy says she hasa little room she can put her in at her house, but we all know yorkie's want to be with people. Aparently, her family members did not like to clean up after this little one, and just kept her crated all the time. So she is not trained to potty or anything, even on puppy pads. Being so tiney, I am sure she is not making a huge mess . I got to hold her and she was sooo wiggly , it scared me , Nancy told me the yorkie loves to climb up to her neck. Nancy told me she is keeping her for a couple weeks , to show them that she was starving. I advised her not to take the yorkie backover there. i have never seen such a starving, anorexic , dog before. Especially such a tiny yorkie, that could of not weighed even a pound. Their is just nothing to her. I told her if she were sick she would not be eating , and she was eating , starvingly. I hope it is not too late to save her. This has been very upsetting to me. She is the most cutest little it bitty yorkie too. my gosh this yorkie is neglected , and her owner did tell me that. I just do not know if she will survive . Such a shame . In their back yard they had a really pretty Boxer, that dog looked great, very healthy and their was a huge bag of dog food for the boxer.... |
How sad. I hope that the owner can step up and take care of this dog. |
how sad.... :( |
that is so sad and I feel badly for this poor baby, how can they sleep at night the way they have been taking care of her |
If I understand correctly, your friend Nancy is the owner, but she is allowing family, 2 teenage girls take care of the little Yorkie and they are starving her. Why doesn't Nancy provide food to be fed to the Yorkie? |
Would you be able to take her in if your friend agreed to it? You sound like you love and care for this little dog and could give her a good home. |
Not only is it sad it is abuse. OMG this poor baby. I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE CRUELTY OF PEOPLE. I hope the Nancy takes better care of the elderly people than she does of her OWN DOG. If she can not take care of it she should rehome it. I hope you can watch over this poor puppy and be her/his guardian angel. I am praying that this poor puppy finds someone who will look out for her. It is just not right and I am sick to my stomach thinking of this poor starving and neglected baby. PLEASE HELP IT OR CONVINCE THEM TO REHOME IT. Why does Nancy need a dog if she is just going to ignore it. I am sorry I am just so upset! |

Well I am glad she now knows that they were not taking care of her. What a shock when you assume your family members are taking care of your dog and then find out otherwise. I hope Nancy can find a better solution. I understand how difficult it is to have to work and the demands of a little dog. I am glad she has the dog now. It is sad that she is so busy she can not see the dog for weeks. I hope it works out and thank you for looking out for the little one. |
I was told that the dog has recieved vet care , vaccinated 2 times, and dewormed. BUT, if a vet had seen her reently, I would think the vet would Call animal control, or SPCA to come and get her. the yorkie was all kissess towards Nancy , and so energetic that I was afraid to hold her ... Scared she fall out of my hands. |
This is so very sad. Tell your friend straight up that you are good friends but you cannot live with yourself knowing this little helpless dog is being starved. Beg her it necessary to take her, offer to buy her or see if she will atleast let you care for her. Surely, your friend could not be that selfish and heartless. Good luck, please keep us posted. I will pray this girl sees reason. |

It should probably be at the vet for whatever extra boost they can do to bring this starving pup around before it's to late. Sorry, to just go on....I'm worried sick about this little one. :( |
I agree the dog needs to see a vet. Malnutrition is a serious thing, the organs will start to suffer. It just breaks my heart for these poor little dogs that get neglected! Try and talk to your friend please!! |

I have to say reading this nearly makes me physically ill!! I think you can only be so nice, and then you have to step in and take control. How old is this little one? Why does she leave her like this for so long? That is not love. She is not responsible enough to have a little dog, can you take her? I hope I don't have bad dreams tonight, just thinking about her makes me so very sad. |

Your post just made me cringe for this poor baby. It is insane to keep a dog and then make someone else watch it (and they are doing a horrible job). Why not just find a loving home for the little thing? I can't even let other people feed my baby because I fear they won't do it right, or give enough food even one time! Its just horrible to know that the little thing is so hungry and dirty too. :thumbdown |

I do not understand this at all. I free feed my 2 girls , and both are at a healthy weight. The really scary part of it is that if ths puppy is not getting enough water, she could also be dehydrated too. Especially that this is a extremely little yorkie. one thought crossed my mind was that those girls were delibertely underfeeding her so she would not grow any bigger. She was already on the super micro mini size yorkie. I have seen tiny yorkie's before, but never suffering from malnurishment. I am a little scared to take her , because of her size, but, if I can get her, she would be seen by the vet, and fed well. I have seen a lot of Chi's.. Nancy's yorkie is smaller then them as puppies. I am uncertain if Nancy even realizes the severity of her puppy's condition. I was NOT prepared to see her yorkie in such bad shape. |
Yikes, she is only 1 lb??? Can you convince your friend to turn her over to a rescue? It does not sound like she is in tune with her dog's needs at all. I know it's tough when it's not your dog, and you have limited power to change the situation. :( |

This poor little baby's heart could be losing muscle tissue due to her severe state of starvation and she must get to an Emergency Vet ASAP. If this woman won't agree to get this littlest and most helpless of angels some help now, please put in an emergency call to Animal Control and beg them to intervene to save a dying dog's life. If your friend won't get her dog vet care now that her condition is life-threatening, she needs to take responsibility for what she has allowed to happen and relinquish this dog to others who will help her. Thank God you are there for this poor baby and what you do next could be her only hope, even if all you can do is call Animal Control. I thank you so much for being willing to raise the alarm for a little dog in trouble. Oh, I just pray someone gets to her in time. |
Please do tell your friend NOT to over feed her baby as a starved dogs organs can shut down completely if fed too much at a time. You have to feed several small meals a day or her system will go into shock & just shut down. She really should take her baby to a vet ASAP. If I were you I would BEG her to let me puppy sit for her instead of her nieces. It would be like shared custody for the 2 of you so you would know you were always going to see her again. |
I don't get it how could you or would you ever call someone like that your friend? Sorry that's when I'd end the friendship why would you want to even know someone like that? Do something...take her dog away...call animal control, take a picture post in in the paper shame her...sorry but I just don't get he whole kill 'em with kindness and honey catches more flies...if I wanted to catch flies I'd get a fly swatter...i don't think the words kill or kindness belong in the same sentence unless the premise is human euthanasia... Either or if my dog was left in someone's care and then I found her that way, we'd be at the vet the moment I saw her like that...and afterward not taking her around showing people, we'd be at home recovering...I just don't get this it's absolutely sickening that someone could do this to a dog...any living creature and furthermore, equally as sickening someone could sit idol and do nothing...especially when its their dog! Me too...the nightmares part! Quote:
