Remy’s horrible terrible no good bad day Remy’s horrible terrible no good bad day My dh and I walk our three furkids twice a day. Yesterday we were taking them on their afternoon/evening walk. They were on leashes on the sidewalk past one of our neighbors, the family was outside and their standard poodle came out to greet us, she had just been groomed and looked so cute. Remy got all excited and tried to lick her face!! The owner came over to talk, A little latter Remy rolled over onto her back (you know what I mean if you have a Yorkie lol) .. The poodle was playing with her then…. omg…. the Poodle attacked Remy!!!!! There was not a warning that I saw, even my dh (who is really a dog whisper in disguised) did not see anything. The owner pulled the poodle off and I grabbed Remy. She (Remy) was screaming and crying.. I think I was too. The poodle hurt the owners hand, didn’t break the skin but her hand was bruised. She was more concerned about that then Remy. I did not find broken skin or blood, but I think Remy peepee herself. My dh said it looked to him like the poodle got more hair then anything - we calmed down and went home.. Poor Remy was shaking and whimpering and I held her. She was limping a little, so we think the Poodle may have bruised her foot. I called the vet, gave Remy a nice warm bath and she seamed her old self. It sure could have been a lot worst!! I have seen that dog thousand of times, never seen any aggression in the dog!! Lesson learned.. don't trust any dog!! |
Wow, I'm glad Remy is okay. |
Im glad Remy wasnt seriously injured |
That's terrible, I'm so sorry that happened, thank goodness Remy is okay!! |
I am so glad Remy is ok, it could have been a real tragedy. I don't care what an owner says, I will not let my babies by a bigger dog. |
Poor Remy. I am so glad she is okay as that could have been a tragedy. You know we forget they are dogs and just for the moment when we think all is okay, they start acting like dogs! My sister's standard poodle was like that - capricious and occasionally untrustworthy. I am just so glad your girl is fine. This kind of sharing is a cautious tale to each of us to watch dogs like hawks when they are together. Give little Remy a big hug from Tibbe and his mom and all the treats she can worm out of you! |
I'm so sorry Remy got beat up. I am glad she is feeling better though! I too never allow my dogs near larger dogs - if I see larger dogs when out walking, I pick up my dog and make a dash across the street. Who needs to deal with some oversized oaf near my precious cuties!! |
I am glad Remy is okay. I know you must of been terrified too. Over the years I have heard many horror stories of big 'sweet' dogs turning on a smaller dog that they had been raised around. I would not trust any big dog around a small dog or a child. You are very lucky Remy was not hurt badly. |
You never know! We have two larger dogs, 50 and 75 lbs and we always watch them together. We don't let them play chase, it gets our Viszla, a hunting dog, too excited. We don't let them play tug of war, Brandi has learned to just let Shadow have the toy and wait for her to tire of it. Even though they are raised together it only takes one wrong step for Shadow to get hurt. I'm glad Rdmy is OK, just too bad. |
Oh my gosh, my heart started pounding hard as I was reading on. Thank God Remy was not seriously hurt. Poor little girl was so terrified, I'm sure. I have always worried if a dog will turn on the spur of the moment. Yes, lesson learned here too, you just never know. Hugs to you and give Remy lots of kisses from me & Zhoie. |
I am so glad Remy is alright! I always pick up Sophie around any dog we meet on a walk because you just never know for sure what they may be capable of doing even if they act friendly toward you. |
I'm glad Remy wasn't seriously hurt. But I will admit, the title of your post made me smile a bit. Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day was one of my oldest daughter's favorite books when she was little. |
Oh that is so bad and i am so proud that Remy is ok..I was so afraid that something really bad had happened to her and it would have had you not been right there |
How scary for you and Remy!!!! I'm so glad that she's OK. Sending hugs to her! |
Oh no!! I'm so glad Remy is okay. Poor girl I know she had to be so scared! My Remy sends his love and puppy kisses to your Remy!!:) |
awwww, poor little Remy :( That happened to Apple, while on a walk...The dog came running up to Apple and the owner hollered across the street, she won't hurt her...Well, the dog immediately tore into my little Apple...Apple screamed, cried and shook for 1/2 an hr...I know how you feel...I'm so sorry this happened, but glad little Remy seems to be o.k... |
Now lil' Remy has to watch out for poodles and gators! She leads an eventful life as do most Yorkies. |
Aww I'm glad to read that Remy is ok! I'd probably be crying to if something like that happened. Hugs to Remy! |

So glad Remy is OK. I am sure you are giving her ALOT of love and snuggles after this incident. |
Poor Remy! How scary for you and DH. I'm so glad your baby wasn't seriously injured. |
That is so scary! I can't imagine a standard poodle being agressive (but I guess that's because I had one that was so submissive). I'm glad she is OK. |
Oh my goodness how horrible. I am glad that Remy is Ok. |
Wow! That was one mean poodle. I'm sorry Remy went through that and I hope she won't be fearful of other dogs. Everytime she has a poodle of the same color in sight, she'll probably let you know though. Hope her little foot is ok. |
I am so glad that your little Remy is okay after being attacked. That happened to Maddie when she was just under a year old. She had been around the bigger dog before and he had never hurt a flea. Up to that point, Maddie loved other dogs, but after that attack, she just doesn't trust any strange dog. I hope Remy does okay both mentally and physically. Bless her sweet, little heart! Sorry you had to go through such a terrible ordeal! |
First...I am so happy to hear that Remy is fine after being attacked by the poodle...what a scare for all of you. Second...I'm glad you decided to post this because we walk our yorkie with friends in the nice weather and their dog is a goldendoodle a little bit older than Trixie. We watch them both and they are both on separate leashes, but we were hoping they could be friends....nah....your story shows that you just never know. Thanks....you may have saved us from heartache. |
So glad Remy was not seriously hurt! I guess we all need to remember to err on the side of caution when it comes to our little ones! :) |
What a jerk to care more about her bruised hand than your dog! Also odd that the poodle attacked even though Remy was in a "submissive" pose. My older dog was attacked a few months ago when I was walking her by our new neighbor's dog and their excuse was "it's a rescue" as though that meant they didn't have to pay the vet bills! They didn't even come out of their house although I was in front of it screaming so loud all the other neighbors came out to check on me, and their window was open! They heard everything. And they avoided me so well for weeks I finally gave up on making them pay the bill. |

I have heard too many stories about big dogs injuring small ones even just in play- so I won't risk it. Mine play with other dogs their own size and thats it. Although, I am getting more concerned even with that- at the pet expo last month another Yorkie bit Chloe- at least she was too small to do much damage. I am lucky that I have two of my own and my parents have two small toy poodles so they really get plenty of fun playtime and socialization without having to interact with too many strange dogs. Sorry about your babies bad day- I hope everything is okay :) |

The funny part is I am so protective of my shih tuz because he is so protective of me I worry about a fight... them sweet little Remy is the one hurt!! I am sorry about the problem you had with your neighbor's dog. Was your dog hurt? I see you had to take him to a vet, is he ok now? What are the leash law where you live? |
