That is really cute ~ it's nice that they are up off the ground...

This seems like it would be a great outdoor bed if you used some type of outdoor upholstery fabric....My dog likes to sit on the lawn while I'm working in the yard, but I don't really like the grass rubbing on his belly...I think he may have some environmental allergies....As if I need another project though!

We just bought Valentines chocolate to support shelter dogs getting bed...they are the something brand an look just like this only mesh netting instead of soft cloth on them...anyways they're almost $100 a piece!

Soooooo I'm thinking like the shelter would really mind using home made ones verses none until the more durable ones could be afforded...PVC, cloth, glue and effort right? We'd not spend so much either I'm thinking we could afford to make a few to donate here...would you mind..anyone sending me some directions on how to make this...

No, I just put some matting in between the 2 layers of fleece, just for cushion. (although it was completely unnecessary!)

I wrote some instructions in an earlier post...although they were very specific!! Here is what you will need.....

PVC Pipe
4 3-way corner connectors
material
PVC glue (like the plumbers use)
4 rubber "caps" for the ends of the legs to prevent sliding. (not a must)

I used 1/2 inch PVC pipe because my yorkies are very small. I would say that the frame I built could easily support 20-25 pounds. If you wanted to use larger PVC pipe, it would make it that much stronger. I dont see these frames coming apart!! Once glued and "stuck" together, they do not come apart!!

The beds I made were 2 foot by 1 foot. However, you could make them as big as you would like! They dont have to be rectangle, they could be square! Its all up to you!

After we put the frames together, we spay painted them black just to make them look better. (again, not a must)

I used fleece because it is soft and fuzzy, (and because I dont sew!!). It requires NO SEWING! You just measure it out on your frame, cut the material about 3 inches wider than the frame, then cut approx 1 inch wide strips 3 inches long all the way around. The corners will end up with a square cut out. Use TWO peices of fleece, and then just tie them together around the frame. If you want to put some matting in between the two peices you can.

If you sew, you could actually save money by using regular material and sewing the material around the frame.

Cost wise: we made 3 beds (my daughter made one for her "future" yorkie):)....We only spent $65 for all 3, including matting and paint.

:thumbs up No that's perfect I might mess around with the size and design but I was really thinking I might miss a PVC piece or something and hmmmmm well with the projects I do around here the guys at the hardware store already look at me going "what stuff does she need this time to make something obscure now"...so ye it's not my favorite to explain what I'm trying to do and what I think I might need for it...

Last time it was a giant sheet of plexi glass, wall anchors and some metal tube pieces to hold a board away from the wall but steady...to make a full wall of a "writing board" in my son's room...white boards for dry erasers can be expensive...luckily they had unframed "ceramin" boards 8' X 4' for $29!!! apparently it's the same as a dry erase board (just not as glossy so ye we can't use red on it and have to use windex to erase it completely but hey saved a couple hundred on creating his "writing wall" :thumbup:

Thats an awesome idea!! My kids are too old for that now, but hmmm....someday might be fun for grandkids....someday FAR away!! ha ha...my kids are 13 and 15!

Graffiti board! The trick is to get the unframed "ceramic" board we got it at a local building supply for $28.99 8' X 4' we also bought some trim board to make our own frame...my 11 year old daughter wants on like her 6 year old brother now...went to staples and the 3' x 5' white board was $199.... we just put it up to see how surprised he would be so we still have to cut it to fit the wall better and put the trim on it...this was my son's Valentines' present poor guy had the flu so he's in his jammies and the board isn't finished in this pic we didn't want to be loud when he had been so tired, sick and irritable for the week...

Seriously though the hardware store guys must giggle every time I come in I'm up to something obscure and make shift on a budget all the time...PVC pipes, two shower rod anchors in large and some heavy duty mesquite netting-you can make a drop roll up screen for you garage to help cool the house in the summer.-or to give the dogs a shady large room with a massive screen door if you fully frame the sides with Velcro and use 2x4 boards to hold it there! LOL!
