How's Gizmo doing? What a wonderful support system TYers are thats' for sure! What a freighting time for Denise. Maybe Admin can post a sticky about what if your Yorkie eats chocolate in the 'Sick' Forum. That way the info will be there for the next person that needs help. Please let us know how Gizmo is doing. Hugs, Wini |
Yeah, Gizmo. Everything I have read says that if it is the first eight hours that are really telling. He could still have side effects for up to 36 hours. Poor little guy. Maybe he will associate chocolate with being sick next time and leave it alone. I don't know if dogs learn that way, but here's hoping! :) Keep us posted. |
I am so glad you got help here for Gizmo and he is recovering well. Chocolate is the third highest cause of poisoning in dogs and it takes very little for our yorkies to be ingest a toxic amount. It only takes ONE OZ of milk chocolate for each pound a dog weighs It only takes ONE OZ of dark Chocolate for every 3 lbs of body weight So you can see with our little 3, 4 and 5 lb dogs it wouldn't take much at all of either milk or dark chocolate. I am so paranoid about this that I don't even feed my dogs anything "chocolate flavored" like the dog treats they make like that beause i don't want them to get a taste of it and crave it and try even harder to get into it if it is left in an accessible location accidentally. Her is a link to another thread on here from July where alot of useful info was posted. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ocolate+poison |
I am glad Giz made it through the night. I hope he continues to feel better! I am worried about him!!! Hannah |
