Does your fur baby likes kids? I've heard so much that yorkies don't get along with kids but my Mindy loves them! What about your fur baby?:animal36 |
Can't stand them unless they are older and can give her calm attention or play with her.. |
Hmmmmmmm complicated question, mine like mine...I have well trained kids and mostly well behaved dogs... Mine like the children of a couple friends, children's friends, neighbors...who have taught their children to respect animals-there are a few children too excitable and well behaved that they prefer not to be around for no other reason than the kids are just too jumpy etc. ***Biggest rule in my house-the dog's beds are their "safety zone" do not touch, bother walk too close to even look too hard (just kidding-no touchy though) the dogs when they are on their beds-if they want attention they will come ask for it-we have beds all over the house for them, not for this but they like to change beds-but this applies to all their beds*** (mostly my daughter's preteen friends to be honest-they are just too unpredictable and loud and excitable at times-so my daughter's Yorkie will be with me when they are here not with my daughter mostly) I take Elvis almost everywhere I can because of his medical issues; he will more than sit on my lap calmly and enjoys watching the kids sports practices-basketball, softball, sports camp etc. Elvis is always taken with a carrier or a blanket to "get in" to "hide" if he chooses-he is not fond of little strangers or big strangers who try to come pet him so I don't let them...I tell kids "look with your eyes only please"...sometimes adults too |
Well, Mindy is only 10 months old, and she likes all the attention but she doesn't like to be hold. She sit by you, play with you, follow you everywhere but ah ah do not grab me... Weird. She is very playful and when I take her yo the park I got to be very careful because when ever she sees a person ( doesn't matter if its a kid or an adult) she runs to them like she knows them since ever. She is very social and I know she still a baby and hope it does not change. Her best fur friend is a huge Labrador and when ever they get together it's funny how they won't stop running. |
Nope, Zhoie doesn't like little kids. She does ok with older ones, just not the small ones. She loves people otherwise. I think it's a fear thing for her because they are so wild....freaks her out. |
My yorkie LOVESSSSSSSS kids!! He gets excited when ever he hears little kids voices!! Maybe cause the first person i introduced him to was my little nephew. But I do make sure my nephew always comes down to Pasquale's level. |
Troy loves everybody! He likes babies and is quite fascinated by them actually. My daughter is 8 and has her friends come by and he'll go say hi and snuggle with them if they are playing video games or sitting playing cards or something. He likes to watch them ride bikes or sit outside with them. I don't let him run around with them for fear that they'll fall or he'll get hurt but if I let him, he'll play chase and run around with them like he's a 70 pound boxer. |
My Bella loves kids! She is so crazy around them until they hurt her then its under the couch she goes. She also loves bigger dogs but hates smaller ones. I find that strange. Mati is a touch me not! She does not like kids or adults that want to touch her if she does not know them. She will start shaking and you can tell she is in freak out zone. So I don't let people bother her. |
Rocco is 81/2 months and he gets along with kids. I have a niece 5 and nephew 3 and he plays with them all the time. He also gets excited when we are on a walk an he sees and hears little kids. he wants to play with them. |
Jackson likes kids for the most part. He loves my little 7 year old brother and my 3 year old sister. They can be as wild and rambunctious as they want around him and he doesn't care. He really LOVES them! Other kids he doesn't 'dislike' but he gets nervous when lots are running around in a small space, like a house living room, etc, but outdoors and at public places he's fine with kids. He loves going up to a child at a pet store or whatever and I've been lucky that most parents are smart and ask first and the kid knows to slowly stick their hand out for him to smell first.... I really socialized him like crazy though, I usually always have treats in my pockets so he associates kids with positive things. Had I not done this, I'm not sure he'd be so tolerant of kids. |
The other day my sister came over with her kids, and one of her smaller one was chasing Charlie around... He kept running to me for cover.. lol.. I'm thinking that he's ok without them. :) |
Kody loves kids, mine, yours, and everybody else's |
Max likes a few kids, but for the most part, he and Teddy are nervous around them. They don't like screaming or rambunctiousness. |
My larger yorkie loves kids they make my smaller one nervous but she is a nervous kind of dog |
Mindy loves to play with my daughter (she is 8 yrs old) and my nephews. They play with her ( gently) soccer and when they are playing basketball she try to take the ball away. And if they are running oh my she chase them like crazy so funny. |
My babies love everybody but so far they haven't been around any young children. However my room mate has two very young nieces 2 and 1 so we'll see how things go when they come to visit one day. |
Bella likes kids, but is wary of them. She adores older kids, and loves my 3 1/2 year old grandson when he is sleeping or quiet. She loves to snuggle up to him and sleep with him. Jett has never been around kids other than my 10 year old son and grandson. He too is wary but likes to play with the little one when he isn't too excited! |
Tibbe's wary but interested but never gets to really be exposed to other than passing kids. I wouldn't let little ones play with him as both are unpredictable with one another. Whenver kids approach the back fence, he usually backs out of harm's way which is good I guess, as my sister said she saw a little kid throw a rock at her dog the other day. Unpredictable. |
I hope she hunted down a parent and let them know...then again these days that doesn't always mean will be done. Quote:

Pebbles loves kids. |
Oh, she's legally blind and physically ill right now and couldn't but she sure would have B4 all this! I would hate to be the parent of that kid were my sister her old self! |
Abby loves my son and is friendly with most kids. I think she can sense the really hyper ones and so she's a bit careful when around them - timid and scared, but if they turn out to be gentle and friendly, then she warms up to them pretty fast. (but then again, i think she's like that with the hyper ones because she saw one of my nephews being mean to another dog in the family, so she's cautious) |
Remy has never been around kids. I think he would do great though because he loves all people. Winston(schnauzer) LOVES kids. He ran to my neighbors once because her granddaughter and her were outside. Poor girl got slobber everywhere. He loves to give kisses and play chase :D! |
We have 16 grandchildren so our two girls have been socialized very well. All the children know how to play with the girls and to leave their "houses" alone. We are fortunate that the girls love our grandkids and that the grandkids love our girls. When we take our girls places they always love to be petted by children but we always tell them to pet them gently and so far haven't had any probems. |
Dudley loves everyone, grown-ups, kids, anyone that will give him attention. Kayla is alittle skittish around kids. I don't think she would actually bite but she seems not to take to kids like she does grown-ups. Any adult she will take up with immediately. |
Heidi is always delighted to see other people, but when she sees a kid, oh my goodness, she goes nuts. There will be a room full of people, but you can watch her face and she will zero in on a kid blocking out everyone else. Which is a good thing because we have begun going to the Childrens Hospital for visits. I taught her to ride in this little toy wagon & I pull it down the hall to the rooms. She looks so cute I can't hardly stand it. It always brings a smile on the kids' face. |
:) poppy is good with older kids  but she is not good with toddlers :) i dont let small children touch her , ;) love jill n poppy xx :aimeeyork |
1 yes 1 no Sophie, who we got as a pup, likes my grand children 7, 9 & 13. We introduced her to them slowly and carefully, but she doesn't like strangers big or small. Bella, who we got as a 1yo, likes any adults but no little kids. She tolerates the 13 yo. Since we have only had her since November I am hoping her opinion of them will improve. Plus they will be getting bigger. |
Khloe adores kids. In fact, when it is just Jimmy and I at the house, she lays around and acts like a geriatric. lol. But when the kids get home, she's playful, spunky, and really enjoys their company. They bring out the puppy in her. |
