I am so glad that you are going to try to get her to get along with your Yorkies. It does take time for the dog to adjust to new home. Cesar rocks! I love the way he works with the dogs! How do your dogs do during the walk? I don't remember who said it but walking is the great way for the dogs to bond with each other and burn the energy so that they will be more calm. I hope the progress will get better and better! :) |
she is a cutie Good for you and your big heart and she now is a very lucky baby |
I spent about 45 mins this morning playing the "lap" game. Since then, I laid down to take a nap, and all dogs were able to come & go on the bed as they wished. Several times Jillian was on my lap first & other dogs jumped up....No problems! Jillian & Yogi were playing with the loofur together (Yogi's favorite toy) some tug-of-war action, and they are running together, walking together & in the back yard, they travel together for their little potty breaks for a few, till they move off to do their own thing. I can't believe that I almost returned her this morning. She only wants to please, and am seeing that she is enjoying her new canine siblings rather nicely now. Just snagged a pic of my non-yorkies napping together. Will post it after this posting. |

1 Attachment(s) Jillian is currently sleeping not in my lap, or under my chair, or by my feet. The dogs are starting to bond with each other. Here is a pic of her & Mercedes napping together. When the mailman came by today, I watched them. Mercedes barked first, then my ferocious little Button's, of course Yogi is barking loudest now & Jillian started barking. (first time I've heard this) The other dogs turned around, noticed her, looked at her & they all moved together to guard the front door from the strange guy that delivers paper stuff & sometimes cool snacks. Jillian had a rough morning. After snapping at another dog, her new mommy put her on the floor & ignored her attempts to come back up. Then she played a cool game where everyone took turns jumping on mom's lap. Jillian had a groomer tend to her this morn, a trip to the vet, her old shelter to get some papers. Good thing Jillian likes the car! Jillian has no clue that mommy worried that she might have thought she was being dropped off again when she left her at the groomers. But Jillian knows that mommy was thrilled when she picked her up and Jillian acted like Mommy had always been her owner & wriggled, wagged & kissed her to death. Even the other groomers were saying...."OH my! She loves her mommy! Jillian got a new sweater since mommy was worried she might get cold after her haircut. What Jillian doesn't know is how bad she had it in the shelter. What she does know now is that she has a family, & even though her new mommy got stupid for a minute this morning, she feels loved. |
1 Attachment(s) If you notice in the second picture my cat Punky is right in the middle. I'm telling you, it takes some work but I know it's going to work out. If not you can send her to my house. I Love Shorkies (lol). |

I love the picture so cute. Congratulations to you for taking in a rescue also. |
adorable!! |
1 Attachment(s) Jillian taking a stretch. Took this pic this morning. She decided to bite a friend from work yesterday who came to visit. But in her defense, Aimee did come towards me rather quickly to hold the pup in my arms. She is VERY protective of me. Might have to get a soft muzzle for her when folks come over until she adjusts. Can't explain the feeling I get when I see her face light up in the window when she realizes I am home. And her face as I'm pulling OUT of the driveway kills me. So glad my yorkies can't reach the window, as three faces looking at me like that would have me quitting my job...lol |
:):animal-pa Awsome!! That is so great for you to give her a loving home!!!!! It is so sad to see all of them at the pound, so happy for you!!:animal36:aimeeyork |
I am so happy you are going to get this to work. When I took Nikki in last year he became very possessive of me and would go after Cali and sometimes Roxie when they came near me. Fortunately Nikki has no teeth and can't really hurt them. I do leave them together when someone is not home (not very often) and they do fine. I think they just get so attached to us that they are jealous of any attention the others get. Yesterday for the first time Nikki went over to Pixie and snuggled up with her in Pixie's bed. It takes time and patience but it is so worth it. |
I am just now reading your thread....my heart just fell when I read you might take her back. Something inside me said no, she just needs time...please keep her or find a home for her, but please don't take her back to the shelter...she might be put down. Then I read that you found out it was a kill shelter and wanted to give her another chance. I'm reading this praying I get to the end and will read that it worked out. God bless you for giving sweet Jillian a chance, and a second chance. You are doing such a wonderful thing. Dont give up on her...she is actually making great strides in such a short time. She loves you so much already and is sooooo blessed to have you for her mommy. |
I'm so glad you are working through Jillian's issues! She got lucky when you adopted her and it would be heartbreaking to hear she didn't work out. She is so darn cute and sweet looking. When a dog joins our house, they do have to learn new rules and to some extent, new words and non-verbal language. It takes some dogs longer than others. Some just seem to fit right away. Also, for dogs that were only dogs, it sometimes mean they have to learn dog language and manners too. Also, the pack dynamics change and all the dogs are trying to adjust. Your commitment to Jillian is wonderful. She deserves a loving, caring home like yours. I'm just so happy for her. |
