**Update** on "blue born" baby
 
Hello!! First off, thank you to everyone who has given me information about the baby!!:) He is doing great and is 5 days old today! We have gotten both great news and discouraging news from different breeders. Some say, their pups have done great, just lost all their hair. We had one tell us most die in the 1st couple of days, and the 2 she knew of that lived, died at 8 months and 1 1/2 yrs.:( But, we will take him and love him for however long God lets us have him!! He is perfect to us, no matter if he loses all his hair or not! He has gained 2 1/2 oz and has a fat little tummy. Here is a pic from today..

He is sooo adorable! I love your positive attitude! You are so right just enjoy all your time with him no matter what he's here for a reason. Good luck!

Still undecided on his name although we have been referring to him as "lil" Smurf....just because of the whole "blue born" thing!! lol!! It may just stick! Im am very eager for his eyes to open as I have read some of these pups have blue eyes as well!

You talked to breeders, but what about your vet? I'm curious what a medical professional would advise.

Why is he expected to have a short life span? I really don't understand. Put him on home cooked food and see if that doesn't make a world of difference. I've been home cooking for dogs for over 50 years without any problems at all. It's the best and safest. ;)

OMGosh, he is just darling. I gotta say...his color is beautiful though.
He's one lucky little guy to have you to love him.

Yes, I have talked with my vet. He actually has yorkies as family pets, and had never heard of a blue born! So I rattled off everything I have learned and told him to educate himself and be ready for potential problems!

AAAHH he is adorable how could you not love him.So precious. I love both lil Smurf and Blue for names. I have a whole number of nicknames for Buster and you will too! Buster and I send best wishes to you and Blue for a long and healthy life together.

He is a "blue born" pup...there is another thread I initially started that explains more. He could possibly live a very long and healthy life, but a large percentage do not. Only time will tell.....As far as the home cooked meals, not only would the baby like that, but so would my family!! lol!! We are ALWAYS on the go, with 2 active kids that play every sport known to man. We eat out mostly everyday...A Mcdonalds hamburger patty is one of Bevos (daddy of the blu born) favorite things! :)

He is an absolutely gerogeous baby. I am sure he will give you many years of pleasure. My Patti is a Blue and doing abslutley fine. Her hair is thinner then my super coat. Last summer I gave them a short cut. Her hair seemes to be thicking up. The only thing heath wise is the vet said if she gets over weight her patela could slip out. Other then that she is in perfect health.

awww...thats a sweet name.:p Well, the battle is on here at home. Before the baby was ever born, my daughter had decided on the name Jordan, however she was really hoping for a female. My yorkie "BEVO" is named after the Texas Longhorns Mascot. "Jordan" would be after former Tx Longhorn, Jordan Shipley. My husband wants to name him "Mac" after UT's head coach Mac Brown....AHHHHH....I live in Longhorn land!! lol Im still loving Papa Smurf! So, the poor baby still doesnt have a real name!

so, Patti was born a blue?? How old is she now? Im still researching everything and anything I can to get as much information as possible so I will be prepared for whatever may happen!

Well, I am about to go visit the baby. I am taking Bevo along to meet his son!! I thought I needed to start introducing the baby to him so maybe he wont be as "freaked" out when a our new baby joins our home. Im not really sure how he is going to accept this as he doesnt really "like" other dogs! He doesnt bark at them or anything, just cant be bothered! He thinks he is human! I will post new pics of daddy and son when I return!!:animal36
