Basil is one smart little Pup
 
Today, not one accident in the house, or in his pen or on a pee pad! The little man goes outside, and knows exactly what to do. We started with it a few days ago, tons of praise after he finishes, and give him a word to get him thinking about what he is supposed to do!

He has one speed. All Out! He is eating well, sleeps thru the night, which we love, and has really bonded more with Marge than me, but she is better looking and a lot nicer. Maxine decided to sleep in our bed again, but she sleeps next to me :D. I guess she has to show Basil that she is still the top dog.

Basil will grab Carlo's massive bones and drag them, and chew them. He has lots of fun. A great little pup with personality. Forgot what a pup is like, but we are also adapting.

Great to hear, sounds like you are enjoying him and having fun with him :) He is an adorable little man. You are fortunate he has grasped outdoor duty so quickly!

I was surprised on how quicky he learned his name and come. He is very inquisitive. As far as outside, I am also surprised.

I am fostering a lil' girl, Gracie right now who is still very much a puppy at 8 mths and I know what you mean...oh the days of zoomies around and around the house are back again...lol:animal37

It sounds like Basil fits right in with his new family and you are having alot of fun too! How is Maxine doing? Hope all is well.

Maxine pretty much ignores Basil, but he makes it hard for her as he wants to run and play. Maxine is doing real good, and old Carlo is also doing great. He will get another Chemo pill in 3 more weeks, and then in April will go back to the Specialist for an Ultrasound and X-Ray and hope he is still cancer free. Carlo is very gentle with Basil, who jumps all over his head when he is laying down. Carlo does not even move fast when Basil is around.

Basil sounds like he is fitting right in to his new home. Why would it come as a surprise the little guy is after Carlo's great big bones? Obviously he thinks that they are the perfect size for his great big self. :D

Sounds like a lot of fun going on at your home!! Great that Basil is doing his bathroom duties outside! I love how you say he jumps on Carlo's head, my Bentley does that to his Boxer brother and Baxter just lays there. Love to hear they all get along well together!

LOL, I can just picture Basil on big ole Carlo's head, hehehe. That big guy is one great dog!
Wow, impressive the little guy has caught on so quickly...smart little fella for sure.

Funnnnn. Sounds like Basil is just a big dog in a little package.... and definitely out to claim his spot in your lives and hearts. Bless Carlo and Maxine for putting up with him; it must be hard at times.

I just now found this. I'm so happy he is showing you how smart he is and I'm sure he's ever so much fun.:D I'd love to see him dragging those big bones around. I hope you took some pics of that! I guess he is working on being the next generation marine in your house.;)

Basil sounds like he's got a great personality! I think we need to see this live on video.... Basil in action! And some more pictures, while you're at it. ;) He sounds like one smart pup.

Not one accident yesterday. He went outside everytime. Soon we will work on him not brutalizing Carlo.

You sound like one proud papa, and it sounds like you've got one amazing little guy! And, Maxine, well, someone's gotta take charge, right lol...I had an English Mastiff and a miniature dachshund, at the same time...She was too, unbelievably, gentle w/my little one...What flavor is Carlo?

Carlo Brindle, 135 pounds, and a great big goof. Basil now, I can tell he is very smart.

You certainly have a little gem of a puppy there. He does sound very smart. I can't believe he's going outdoors and sleeps through the night already. That's wonderful! He must be so much fun to watch. I bet Carlo loves him too, in his own way. Can't wait to see some pictures of him interacting with Carlo.. :)

I find it amazing how a bigger dog understands not to hurt a smaller dog. Both my boy know that Ivy can't play like they do and are very careful with her. But they both kiss her to death:D We now need more photos!!

That's my biggest fear, cause our big dogs allow Razz to run all over them, and he jumps in their beards and faces, I am so scared sometimes he will do that to strange big dogs. I've only allowed him off lead, at my friends places who have BRTs and Yorkies, and he is fine with those BRT's. Not too much jumping in their faces.

He has no fear of the big dogs. Good luck with teaching him not to brutalize Carlo, if you find a magic solution, please let me know:D

It sounds like he's adjusting beautifully to his new home. I'm glad that Carlo and Maxine aren't having too difficult a time adjusting to being a big brother and big sister.

Oh, I hope you get the hat - bet he will be darling. It sounds like Basil is pure joy and smart as can be, too. :D

Basil just got home from his first Puppy Kindergarten class. He was great. Got along with all the dogs, handled by everyone, and we are now working on Sit, Down and come. He is getting it!
